Otam Aluminum Custom 115

Otam Yachts is locked, loaded and ready to fire another silver bullet on the high seas. The Italian yard has just unveiled a new 115-footer that it claims will be one of the fastest aluminum yachts on the water.

The sleek alloy speedster is the second model in Otam’s Aluminum Custom Range. The first award-winning vessel, Gipsy , measures the same length as the new design, though offers a fraction of the speed. Version 2.0 will reportedly be capable of reaching a breakneck 44 knots at full tilt while its predecessor tops out at 20.

The Rolex Swan Cup Is One of Sailing’s Most Illustrious Races. Here’s What It’s Like to Attend.

The vessel fittingly takes cues from the aeronautical and automotive worlds to reflect Otam’s self-described “racy DNA.” Featuring an exterior by BG Design Firm , it sports aggressive lines and chromed air vents to rival your favorite racecar.

“The keywords that directed the design were ‘sportiness’, ‘purity’, ‘simplicity’ and ‘modernity,’” the design studio said in a statement. “All the lines converge forward in a linear and almost horizontal way to give the shape tension, poise and dynamism.”

The deep-V hull, meanwhile, was developed by Umberto Tagliavini Marine Design and was designed to enhance seakeeping and handling on the waves at high speeds. There’s also a Seakeeper gyro stabilizer to keep things nice and smooth while cruising or at anchor.

Customization is, of course, key and clients can choose between two different propulsion packages. If you’re a thrillseeker, opt for the three-engine configuration with MTU 2,600 hp engines and a KaMeWa waterjet central booster for a top speed of 44 knots and cruising speed of 32 knots.

Otam Aluminum Custom 115

The layout can be customized to suit your needs. Otam Yachts

Since no molds are used in the aluminum construction, seafarers can also tailor the yacht’s layout as desired and tweak the arrangement of the aft cockpit, flybridge and foredeck.

Things below deck can be customized, too. As standard, the interior comprises two en suite staterooms, a large VIP cabin and a full-beam master suite, plus an airy open-plan salon and sizable dining room with panoramic sea views. The galley and dedicated crew quarters, meanwhile, sit between the owner’s suite and the engine room.

As for amenities, there’s room for a spa or gym on board as well as a generous amount of outdoor deck space. There’s also a transom garage that can house a 14-foot tender and a jet ski.

“This is a boat that wants to be designed in collaboration with clients, not just for them,” adds Otam’s sales director Matteo Belardinelli.

We’re sure a few seafarers will take up that challenge.

In recent years, a new trend has emerged among yacht builders: smaller super luxury vessels with sailing capabilities that allow us to move with more agility and have access to more marinas and piers around the world. This novel idea has paved the way for a series of models measuring 115 feet in length, which seems to be the perfect size for this new trend. Here, three 115 footers, all luxurious, athletic and charming.

Princess 35M

115 Foot Yachts

Princess 35M. The upper level is for leisure and includes a solarium, a Jacuzzi and a great table for more than eight guests, which can be protected by a sliding roof.

Twenty-three feet wide, the Princess 35M boasts generous outdoor spaces. The upper level is for leisure and includes a solarium, a Jacuzzi and a great table for more than eight guests, which can be protected by a sliding roof. The main level has a spacious aft deck with French doors that open to a splendid lounge decorated with leather sofas and fine wood paneling. On the lower level, you’ll find the main stateroom with panoramic views, a study, two closets and in suite, as well as other complementary cabins, a superbly equipped kitchen and quarters for the crew. From the point of view of performance, the Princess 35M has different engines; the most powerful are two MTU 16V 2000 M94 diesel engines capable of reaching a maximum speed of 27 knots.

Arcadia 115

115 Foot Yachts

Arcadia 115. This luxury yacht model places great emphasis on the amenities and comfort of its ten passengers and crew.

This splendid vessel— a little over 26 feet wide— with cutting edge design is distinctly modern and sustainable. This luxury yacht model places great emphasis on the amenities and comfort of its ten passengers and crew. On the upper level there is a large terrace for entertainment, a bar and a table for 8. In the interior, a stunning movie theatre with a posh U-shaped sofa faces a large LED screen. The command post below is close to a large Jacuzzi in the foredeck.

On the main level, a huge living room, a dining room with bar area, a table for ten diners and a fully equipped kitchen. The master bedroom boasts a dressing room and in suite studio. The guest quarters— all with private baths— and the cabins for the crew are also on the lower level. Arcadia, a company that offers sustainable solutions for yachts, provides alternatives such as solar panels for electricity, non-polluting materials and hybrid or electric propulsion systems, among other environmentally-friendly options.

San Lorenzo 118

115 Foot Yachts

San Lorenzo 118. The vessel highlights its main staterooms with hydraulic folding balconies, which increase the outdoor space and allow more expansive views.

This model is slightly longer than the others. Nearly 118 feet long and with a width of about 26 feet, its amenities are very similar to those offered by the aforementioned yachts, but San Lorenzo 118 stands out for its exterior design and more classic and conservative interior, which still manages to look clearly sporty. The vessel highlights its main staterooms with hydraulic folding balconies, which increase the outdoor space and allow more expansive views. Although the SL 118 comes with the same MTU engine of the Princess 35M, thanks to its design, it is a bit more agile with a maximum speed of 28 knots and a cruising speed of 24 knots. ■

Crew Information

Crew Main Image

Captain: Colin Horton

The Eros team comprises of five seasoned, professional and fun loving crew members. While they each have their own responsibilities, they work hand-in- hand to insure our guests enjoy the best vacation imaginable. Colin Horton, Captain - Colin began his sailing career in his home, the Pacific Northwest, while he was in college. He has spent the last 10+ years working on a variety of vessels all over the world. His experience includes multiple Caribbean and Mediterranean sailing seasons, two transatlantic voyages and many super yacht regattas. Colin holds his 200-ton Near Coastal USCG Cap- train’s license. In his off time, Colin owns and maintains his own sailboat and enjoys cruising around the greater New England area. Brieanne Buckey, Chief Stew - Bri grew up on Jamestown Island across the bridge from Newport, RI, where she naturally fell in love with the ocean, and boats. After a stint in the Hawaiian islands, she moved to the Virgin Islands to be close to her first love, warm ocean waters. Drawn to the yachts in the harbor she took a job on a charter boat and has not looked back. She has rounded out her guest service experience with several years working in restaurants and hotels and truly loves to make sure Eros’s charter guests’ expectations are exceeded every minute they are on board. Bri also prides herself on her excellent mixology skills. Heather Stout, Chef - Heather grew up in the southwest desert of Utah and migrated to the eastern coast over a decade ago, where she ended up in Maine and fell in love with classic wooden schooners, the rugged Atlantic shoreline, and the hearty New England agriculture. With over twenty years of experience in restaurants and farming, Heather knows the importance of promoting local food culture by finding and learning the expertise of farmers, ingredients, and practices from the different regions we visit. She places an emphasis on healthy and vibrant meals, and brings a clear message of sustainability and nourishment to her cuisine. Tami Stawicki, Chief Stewardess. Tami grew up on the coast of Connecticut before moving to New York to work as an actuary. After five years, she wanted to focus on traveling and made the switch to work as a host on yachts in Croatia. After a couple of seasons and working various hospitality roles, she is excited to join the crew on Eros. In her free time, Tami enjoys reading, walking, swimming, and running. Esteban Mogollon, First Mate - Esteban's passion for sailing began in south Florida, where he would race his older sister in a couple lasers across Biscayne Bay. He became enchanted with classic sailboats after working on a few schooners in Newport, RI and Connecticut. Currently holding a 100-Ton Near Coastal USCG Captain's license, he aspires to upgrade to a 200-Ton license. Beyond the sea, Esteban finds joy in woodworking, surfing, and watching fútbol. Brieanne Buckey, Stewardess/ Deckhand- Bri grew up on Jamestown Island across the bridge from Newport, RI, where she naturally fell in love with the ocean, and boats. After a stint in the Hawaiian islands, she moved to the Virgin Islands to be close to her first love, warm ocean waters. Drawn to the yachts in the harbor she took a job on a charter boat and has not looked back. Unlike most charter crew Bri threw in a couple of interesting side gigs, commercial salmon fishing in Alaska, and earning her Coast Guard captain’s license for up to six passengers. Look out, Captain Justin. She has rounded out her guest service experience with several years working in restaurants and hotels and truly loves to make sure Eros’s charter guests’ expectations are exceeded every minute they are on board. Bri also prides herself on her excellent mixology skills.

Eros team comprises of five seasoned, professional and fun loving crew members.

";s:14:"yachtCrewPhoto";s:81:"https://www.centralyachtagent.com/yachtadmin/yachtlg/yacht3042/3042brochure44.jpg";s:13:"yachtCrew1Pic";s:76:"https://www.centralyachtagent.com/yachtadmin/yachtlg/yacht3042/3042crew1.jpg";s:13:"yachtCrew2Pic";s:76:"https://www.centralyachtagent.com/yachtadmin/yachtlg/yacht3042/3042crew2.jpg";s:13:"yachtCrew3Pic";s:76:"https://www.centralyachtagent.com/yachtadmin/yachtlg/yacht3042/3042crew3.jpg";s:13:"yachtCrew4Pic";s:76:"https://www.centralyachtagent.com/yachtadmin/yachtlg/yacht3042/3042crew4.jpg";s:13:"yachtCrew5Pic";s:76:"https://www.centralyachtagent.com/yachtadmin/yachtlg/yacht3042/3042crew5.jpg";s:13:"yachtCrew6Pic";s:0:"";s:13:"yachtCrew7Pic";s:0:"";s:13:"yachtCrew8Pic";s:0:"";s:13:"yachtCrew9Pic";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtCrew10Pic";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtCrew1Name";s:6:"Justin";s:14:"yachtCrew2Name";s:5:"Jared";s:14:"yachtCrew3Name";s:5:"Aimee";s:14:"yachtCrew4Name";s:7:"Jessica";s:14:"yachtCrew5Name";s:3:"Eva";s:14:"yachtCrew6Name";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtCrew7Name";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtCrew8Name";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtCrew9Name";s:0:"";s:15:"yachtCrew10Name";s:0:"";s:15:"yachtCrew1Title";s:8:"Captain ";s:15:"yachtCrew2Title";s:10:"First Mate";s:15:"yachtCrew3Title";s:19:"Deckhand/Stewardess";s:15:"yachtCrew4Title";s:4:"Chef";s:15:"yachtCrew5Title";s:10:"Stewardess";s:15:"yachtCrew6Title";s:0:"";s:15:"yachtCrew7Title";s:0:"";s:15:"yachtCrew8Title";s:0:"";s:15:"yachtCrew9Title";s:0:"";s:16:"yachtCrew10Title";s:0:"";s:9:"yachtFlag";s:3:"USA";s:13:"yachtHomePort";s:11:"Newport, RI";s:14:"yachtWBasePort";s:25:"St Thomas, Virgin Islands";s:8:"yachtRig";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtGrossTons";s:0:"";s:12:"yachtAcNight";s:3:"Yes";s:16:"yachtAcSurCharge";s:4:"NONE";s:9:"yachtTubs";s:1:"1";s:20:"yachtLocationDetails";s:41:"Winter: Caribbean Summer: New England ";s:10:"yachtTerms";s:4:"MYBA";s:13:"yachtCaptOnly";s:0:"";s:15:"yachtSpecialCon";s:0:"";s:14:"yachtContracts";s:0:"";s:21:"yachtConsumptionUnits";s:10:"US Gall/Hr";s:10:"yachtRange";s:12:"3,200 nautic";s:11:"yachtPermit";s:1:"2";s:12:"yachtLicense";s:1:"2";s:8:"yachtMca";s:1:"1";s:16:"yachtDeepSeaFish";s:3:"Yes";s:10:"yachtSatTv";s:3:"Yes";s:9:"yachtIpod";s:3:"Yes";s:10:"yachtVideo";s:0:"";s:17:"yachtSailInstruct";s:3:"Yes";s:13:"yachtInternet";s:12:"Onboard WIFI";s:16:"yachtCaptainOnly";s:0:"";s:16:"yachtBrokerNotes";s:332:"Water Cap - 1,000 gallons per day

2019 Refit/maintenance list includes:
New saloon
Second water maker
New espresso machine
New fridge
New upholstery throughout – interior and exterior
New topside paint job
New galley equipment
New Yamaha underwater toy";s:10:"yachtNumGC";i:8;s:13:"yachtGC1Title";s:22:"Christmas 2018 in BVI ";s:8:"yachtGC1";s:178:""OMG! You treated us with such courtesy from the time that we arrived on Eros to our warm goodbyes. We especially enjoyed happy hours and dinners around the cockpit table with party lights strung around the deck for ambiance as we watched the sunset across the water. Eros was fun to sail on a reach with the rig powered up. The Chef and food were amazing and you even met our wish for a lobster bake onshore. He is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, with experience in search and rescue, and a graduate of the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding. He has spent years building and restoring wooden boats on the east and west coasts of North America. He is an experienced offshore sailor and deliveryman, and has been at the helm of various charter and privately-owned vessels, from the 103-foot gaff-rigged AURORA to a 12-meter racing sloop and a 112-foot Westport motor yacht. His credentials include a 500-ton USCG license, advanced firefighting, medical care, and rescue. He is adept at crew training, supervision, and all aspects of yacht management.

Jared Frith, First mate

Jared started sailing dinghies and other small boats on Lake Dillon near his home in Breckenridge, Colorado. He joined a steel l ketch carrying charter guests between Panama and Colombia through the San Blas Islands and fell in love with sailing and the charter business. From there Jared traveled by land through many different countries, but really missed sailing so he found himself on more yachts, gravitating towards larger and older traditional vessels, mostly schooners. Jared loves wooden yachts, the older the better; he enjoys their character. And he loves sharing time on these yachts with guests that he can teach and form friendships with. He enjoys long sea deliveries, seeing the crew become a team, standing watch and partaking in the ultimate nature outing. In his free time Jared loves spending time in the outdoors and traveling as much as possible.

Aimee O'Neil, Deckhand/Stewardess

Aimee grew up on the local waters of New England. From an early age she developed a deep love for the ocean. With past experiences in surf instruction, surf rescue, this surfer gone sailor is at home on the water. Her sailing experience began as a child on her father’s boat and working as a deckhand aboard 12 Meter “Heritage”. Her interests also include free diving and astrology. During your time aboard Eros, Aimee will make you feel right at home. Her years of experience in the restaurant and hospitality industries and knowledge on deck allow her to deliver a 5-star experience no matter what. She is ecstatic to serve on Eros where she combines all of her passions in one place.

Jessica Filkins, Chef

Jessica is a yoga teacher, health coach, energy healer, nutritional chef, and entrepreneur. Her highest joy is hosting wellness based adventure retreats. She grew up on Block Island and spent half her childhood home-schooled on a boat in the Bahamas. Jessica studied philosophy, anthropology and psychology at Colorado College. As a chef, Jessica is renowned in her community for the delicious healthy foods and has a gift for bringing amazing people together and facilitating joyful and transformational experiences.

Stewardess Eva Tash

Eva’s love for sailing began when her parents signed her up for sailing camp while on family vacation in the south of France. She began learning the basics on Hobie cats in France and when back home in New England, on small dinghys her neighbors had. When her family moved to Newport, RI Eva found her home with the high school sailing team where she hit, and excelled through a massive learning curve in the art of racing. Eva competed year round for 4 years, until she started college. During her short time in college, she realized how much she missed sailing, and soon paused her studies to pursue a career in the industry.

What an experience! The boat is beautiful - everything it's advertised to be. We hit surfing and snorkeling spots you can't get to without a boat. Eros is a spectacular yacht, the crew was excellent, the USVI were beautiful and the weather was good too! The highlight of the trip was sail down passage between USVI & BVI. We also had great time with anchored activities: diving off transom/swimming around Eros; snorkeling with colorful reef fish, turtles and a sting ray; seeing spotted eagle rays jumping out of the water; enjoying delicious meals; “skurfing” (one son learned to waterski, the other learned to wake board); spending two afternoons on uncrowded beaches; etc. Great family time!”

J.S., Orange County, CA (2017)

“The sailing and island hopping experience of a lifetime.”

January 2012

EROS

<meta itemprop="name" content="EROS" Crew 4 />

Christmas and New Year 2017/2018

Thank you for everything that you must do to keep this vessel available to those of us without your courage to undertake such a daunting task. You treated us with such courtesy from the time that we arrived on Eros to our warm goodbyes. Our cruise Downeast along the Maine coast featured wonderful sailing, cozy anchorages, a variety of options for shopping, dining, or hiking ashore, and wonderful meals on the boat. Thanks for the extra effort, and thanks too for entertaining us one night by singing sea chanties. -

EROS

<meta itemprop="name" content="EROS" Crew 9 />

March 2021 Charter - Caribbean

We can't begin to adequately put into words how wonderful our trip was. Most expenses are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), a fund that is added on top of the charter price. The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption). You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled). The remainder of the APA is returned after charter.">Price Terms: Plus Expenses

Location will play huge factor in food provisons and thing may have to be folws into remorte locations.

Crew is one of the largest expenses on a superyacht and critical to the owner’s enjoyment of their vessel. As the largest crew agency in the world, we know crew. Our cost calculator contains customized crew lists for yachts ranging from 80ft to 600ft with salary information based on our reference verified salary data.

Our users also have the ability to completely tailor the crew list to the specific needs, schedule and requirements of their vessel. Each yacht is unique and may have specific owner requests in addition to the yacht’s safe manning requirements.

Management of the supplemental crew costs and strategic budgeting can help avoid significant overspend on categories such as food and uniform. This tool contains default values based on our industry expertise and recommended budget for an efficiently and safely run superyacht.

To learn more about each crew position in detail, including salary ranges, please visit our yacht department directory .

Drag the sliders to modify your results. These are not linear scales and we expect most yachts to operate within the 20-80% window. Above 80% and below 20% costs increase or decrease at exaggerated levels and we only see numbers in these levels in very rare circumstances.

This sunburst diagram is interactive. You can click into each block to see the expense break down and mouse over each block for more details.

Our chart of accounts displays seven major categories, 20 sub-categories plus a further 80 detail categories for a total of 107.

Our yacht operating cost calculator is now on it’s third major revision. We start with actual yacht expense data from our yacht management accountants and then generate formulas to extrapolate out the budget for a wide range of yachts. We have been providing accounting services to large yachts for the past 18 years.

Our operating cost calculator is tuned for yachts from 80 to 600 feet. We find operating variables create the largest variances for yachts smaller than 100 feet and larger than 250 feet. We have tested the numbers the most in the range from 100 to 250 feet.

Our budget calculator factors in the fuel burn for a range of engine sizes typically seen installed on yachts by length. By dragging the green “fuel dockage” slider to the right you will increase the projected fuel burn rate and therefore the budget cost for fuel. Our default position would be for a typical displacement fuel burn. Position the slider in the 60-80% range for fuel projections for planning hulls.

Our default values produce a budget number that we believe is generous to run a yacht to a high standard. Perfect is a very expensive word to use in the yachting industry where standards are already high. Moving the crew and maintenance sliders to 80% will provide an “industry best” quality of crew and give them the maintenance budget to operate to a very high standard. If you need to go over the 80% area then you may have unusually labor intensive equipment on the yacht.

Yes, our yacht operating cost calculator can output a budget suitable for this situation. Adjust the owner use to 2 (minimum value), owner slider to 0, crew slider to 10%, Administration to 10%, Fuel and Dockage to 0, Maintenance to 10% and then Capital Repairs to 0. This will remove all of the large charges associated with owner use and vessel movement but leave the essential base maintenance and insurance in place.

Lift on and float in yacht transport is a popular way to transport yachts across large ocean passage. The yachts that this service certainly applies to are ones that may not have the motoring range or structural integrity for blue ocean cruising. The cost of transporting a yacht twice per year is put into our budget once the “Fuel Dockage” slider hits 75%. If your yacht has the range we recommend self-sufficient ocean passages whenever possible. Whilst the transport companies sell their services based upon reportedly well oiled operated schedules the reality is that your yacht may stay waiting for pickup for a week or more with no compensation due. When factoring in all secondary factors of self-sufficient passages (increased fuel, maintenance, potential storm damage, crew time off, extra delivery crew) compared with transporting your yacht (insurance, potential loading / unloading damage, loss of schedule control, no work whilst underway, crew flights, crew accommodation) we believe that there is a 100% premium associated with float in transport and a 75% premium with lift on transport compared with self-powered.

Abandoned yachts crash in value. We recommend that even if you are trying to sell your yacht that you use the yacht for a minimum of two weeks per year so that systems are tested and working every six months. There is nothing worse for a yacht than not being used. If you truly are not going to use the yacht then you should sell it immediately for the first genuine offer as every dollar you put into maintenance will not be recovered at the time of the sale.

We did not build this version with sailing yachts in mind. Early in our development of this version we decided to exclude sailing yachts as a few of the major cost drivers scale very differently for sailing yachts compared with motor yachts. For example: To calculate paint costs we reviewed the surface area of over 100 large yachts and created a formula for painted surface area to length. Sailing yachts just don’t scale in a consistent way. Similarly crew numbers don’t scale in the same manner that they do for motor yachts. If there is sufficient demand we may build a sailing selector switch into a future version of this tool.

We hate to hear when yacht owners were told by their broker to factor in 10% of the purchase price to operate the yacht. This over used saying is sadly right occasionally (particularly for newer yachts in the $20-30M range)… but just because a broken watch tells the right time twice a day you shouldn’t rely upon it to tell the time. As yachts get older their capital value decreases but their maintenance costs increase. There is no way that a fixed 10% of purchase cost rule can be true… if your broker told you this rule then you need a new yacht broker… we know some good ones. 😊
