EYC is always lovely. The atmosphere is chill and unpretentious. The people are friendly. They have the cutest events for adults and kids. Last night they were showing a movie out back in the grass overlooking the water. The regular menu is great. Lots of options for all kinds of eaters. The event menus can be a little lacking but the staff will make special requests if you ask. The staff are friendly and very kind.

Went there recently at 90+ F and their AC was out. Limited menu selection, not likely will go back. Service was above average

We came here as part of the "reward/fun" portion of our 2-1/2 day Board Meeting in Annapolis. And the planners had a reception on the patio portion of the Club after our boat (not yacht nor sail) cruise ride. Drinks available as we mingled with each other along with local guests from the Baltimore Section and including one from Naval Academy. We then proceeded to the buffet style dinner . . Various options from mozzarella & tomatoes, crab dip & bread, Mac & cheese, beef tenderloin (petite size and tender - I don't really like steak that much but was looking for protein) and then realize the other side had mini crabcakes! I used the veggies from the platter to dip into the crabdip. Since the room we were in was also how the wait staff entered/exited from the kitchen, it was very noisy as different people were rushing in or out. It seemed like all of our wait staff were good.

Horrible food. Service is top notch but cannot compensate for bad food specials horrible and waited for over 30 minutes for dessert finally cashed out without it

Hey! I'm with the Sea Scouts sailing group ya'll recently were so great to host, and I just wanted to say how wonderful a time I had, thanks so much for everything, it was so great to meet Ms. Burke, and I can't wait to again next cross paths! Thanks!

I was excited to go back to the Eastport yacht club after several years. The club has been tastefully renovated but done in a way that it is still comfortable. The food was good and I would love to go back if invited back.

One of my happy places! Eastport has great food and wonderful drinks at amazing prices, not to mention the incredible views. This is a great place to enjoy a drink after work, a weeknight boat race, and great company. Great people, wonderful, relaxed atmosphere. Truly a wonderful place.

Eastport Yacht Club

Not your traditional blue blazer club, EYC is built on activity, on the water and ashore. Its members are involved in a diverse range of boating activities, supported by social events and strong camaraderie. Known for a million-dollar view of the Severn River and Annapolis, EYC also is recognized in the Chesapeake Bay region and beyond as a club capable of managing major championship regattas, Friday night Beer Can races, and everything in between, as well as providing great social networking for cruising, parties, and charity events. It’s all about life on the water, and all about fun. All members are encouraged to volunteer and serve on committees so that EYC will continue to develop by the membership and for membership. Eastport Yacht Club has become a vital part of the community while continuing to be a fun place.

Stories from Eastport Yacht Club

Although the idea of an Eastport Yacht Club had been discussed since at least the early 1970’s, the actual organization was the result of the informal Friday night social gatherings at the offices of Kaufman & Ladd, Naval Architects on Severn Avenue in the Eastport section of Annapolis, Maryland, U.S.A. During the spring of 1980, eleven of the regulars at these gatherings formed a steering committee with the intention of forming the Eastport Yacht Club.

By October, two hundred people had been selected who were considered as appropriate for the charter membership and invitations were sent out. No restrictions concerning race, creed, or sex were considered in the selection of these charter members. The number of invitations was limited by the number of persons who perhaps could fit into the upstairs of Marmaduke’s Pub, where the first meeting of the charter members convened on October 13, 1980.

The idea of the club was received with true enthusiasm. It was determined by vote that a permanent clubhouse was to be sought after, although there were some persons who, understandably, suggested caution because of the cost of such a venture. The burgee that had been created by the steering committee was accepted. The burgee pattern was intended to represent the Eastport Bridge in an open position. While continuing to seek a permanent clubhouse, the EYC found temporary quarters on the fourth floor of a building at Annapolis City Marina on Severn Avenue in Eastport that opened on November 6, 1983. The search for a suitable property continued and on April 23, 1989 the membership approved the purchase of the present site. After much creative financing, the new clubhouse was opened for use on October 3, 1992. An additional section adjoining the present site was acquired during June 1999 and in 2004 arrangements were made to acquire the Paape property which is next beyond that towards Severn Avenue. During the spring of 2006, the program of expanding and rebuilding the marina was completed.

Eastport yacht club lights parade ready to set sail again in annapolis this weekend.

As the yacht club’s website describes it: “Every year on the second Saturday in December … boats suddenly appear out of the cold winter night illuminated with thousands of colored lights and crewed by jolly revelers.”

The parade, which takes place in the Annapolis Harbor and Spa Creek, was first organized in the late 1970s. It grew slowly each year, and in 1983 the yacht club formalized the parade.

Tom Stalder and Trudy Miller Stalder are co-chairs of the event and are hoping for good weather this year. Stalder has been involved in the parade since 1987 and Miller Stalder for more than 20 years. She became co-chair three years ago.

Stalder said they have more boats and sponsors than in years past and the interest in the parade has become overwhelming for the couple. Forty-one boats signed up for this year’s parade.

“We meet monthly and it is a [year’s] worth of planning to put this together,” Miller Stalder said. “October and November are pressure months with the push to the parade.”

Last year, they planned until late October. Then it was decided the parade couldn’t happen because of the ongoing pandemic. She said it was a difficult decision, but one they had to make.

Miller Stalder said she felt great when she found out this year’s parade would take place.

“We started planning [in] January and we just hoped this pandemic would be slowed down enough for us to have this parade,” she said. “People are just more excited to get out this year to have fun.”

The couple splits responsibilities when it comes to planning. Stalder takes care of all the on-the-water things, including permits and having the Coast Guard shut down the harbor. Miller Stalder oversees sponsorships, public relations and more.

“There [are] a lot of dangers out there, with the cold water, backlights from the city and lights on the [boats,]” Stalder said. “It is a challenging task for skippers and we have a mandatory meeting for them to attend.”

Many of the boat owners have been telling Stalder they are excited to get out on the water for the parade. He calls the parade a gift to the city that keeps on giving every year.

One of Miller Stalder’s favorite parts of the event is the parade-themed Christmas cards, designed each year by an artist and sold to the public. This year, Barbara Brower, an Annapolis artist, won the competition to design the cards. So far, 1,200 cards have been sold.

Eastport Yacht Club has been lauded by environmental groups for the implementation of new development methods to protect the delicate ecological balance that supports the Chesapeake Bay. This means we meet legal requirements and have voluntarily adopted pollution prevention practices at our marina in order to help improve the quality of Maryland’s waters. The EYC Environmental Committee has installed & monitors oyster reefs under docks to grow spat which also act as wave barrier, and monitors water quality.

The private basin provides well protected harbor for 47 wet slips with fresh water service and electricity. Depth at mean low water is 6 feet. There are 11 lift slips on C dock with 3000-8000lb capacity, 19 wet slips ranging from 30-42 feet on A dock, and 11 slips ranging from 20-20 feet on floating B dock. We also provide transient dockage to reciprocal Club members along outside bulkhead with electric and water access. Free Pump Out on end of C dock. There is also a 24-hour restroom with shower.

Our dry sail facility features a 2-ton crane self-use hoist in basin & self-use tractor (need waiver and training on both hoist and tractor use). We also have a large floating launching dock for dinghies, kayaks, paddleboards, providing easy access for our junior sailors. There is space for 30 dry sailed keelboats (<26’) and large staging/rigging area with fresh water & electric service, enabling EYC to easily handle large numbers of boats for major regattas. The entire facility is free of overhead wires. There are also dolly spots for Lasers and Racks (36) for kayaks, paddleboards, dinghies.

EYC supports the Junior Fleet which includes Storage Shed, Member Access Program Equipment dock box. Fleet of 4 RS Feva XLs, 6 Sunfish, 8 Red Dragon Opti prams, 10 paddleboards, 8 kayaks; Support powerboats, Whaler 13’, 15’ 17’ and 11’ Zodiac HB inflatable.

The EYC Marina is proud to be a certified Maryland Clean Marina. Our marina is one of the club’s best member amenities for water access and enjoyment. The tradition has come to be celebrated every year on the Vernal Equinox, the day signaling the beginning of Spring and, more importantly in Annapolis, boating season. The Eastport Yacht Club and the Annapolis Maritime Museum continue to observe this tradition and, with the assistance of social media, sock burning has caught fire across the country — it is now celebrated from Pacific Northwest to New England and even in land-locked areas of Pennsylvania . These days,  the annual Sock Burning event has become quite popular and includes an oyster roast, food vendors, activities, and exhibits highlighting maritime heritage.

EYC captains and crew will be taking WH members, their families, and caregivers for an afternoon or evening boat ride on the bay.  This is a spirit-lifting day on the water that brings laughter, fun, and healing to our WH members and families! An afternoon or evening on the water is a beautiful way to reconnect with nature, each other, and ourselves.

The Wellness on the Water Launch Party is a fundraiser that helps others in the community with a cancer diagnosis to experience this program, as well as many others at Wellness House of Annapolis.

Your money goes a long way in providing support to our community. For example:

• $500.00 is equal to 5 counseling sessions for an individual experiencing a cancer diagnosis. • $1,500.00 is equal to supporting yoga classes for a month for 10 members . • $2,500.00  is equal to sending 7 children to our summer day camp for a week where they learn important coping skills to handle a loved one’s cancer diagnosis.

But, even more importantly the money you donate goes towards providing these mental health and support services for FREE to thousands of individuals with cancer, their caregivers, and family members. Every ticket purchased directly supports the funding of these services for our community. 

Thank you for this opportunity to gain your support in providing free programs and services for a neighbor, friend, or loved one who is managing the devastating challenges of a cancer diagnosis. We couldn’t do it without you!
