A new multi strategy company for the superyacht industry called Global Yachting Group has been recently created by the shareholders of Pinmar and Rolling Stock. This collaboration will strengthen and support these two highly respected companies as well as their subsidiaries, which will continue to trade independently, with the exception of scaffolding and supply.

Pinmar and Rolling Stock create Global Yachting Group

Pinmar and Rolling Stock create Global Yachting Group

The remaining group companies will retain their individual status, boards, management and brands to ensure they continue to offer their clients the continuity and personal service to which they are accustomed.

Rolling Stock Chandlery and Pinmar Supply will merge and trade under the name of Pinmar Supply SL thus forming a one stop shop for all supply needs. Yacht Covering Systems SL (currently trading as Pinmar Covering) and Techno Craft SL will merge and trade under the name of Techno Craft SL.

Global Yachting Group aims to leverage on an experienced and globally skilled workforce to achieve economies of scale and the capability to execute ever larger new build, refit and supply related projects. The group will have the broadest international service capability in the superyacht sector, including real estate interests in refit facilities, yacht finishing, supply (retail and distribution), scaffolding and covering, blasting and surface treatment, concierge and advisory services all offered at competitive prices.

Remy Millott, Pinmar CEO, stated that “I believe this is one of the most important joint ventures in our industry to date. It creates a strong infrastructure, with wide geographical coverage, able to deliver a full range of high quality services to the growing yacht market with its varying project sizes and demanding deadlines.”

Mark Conyers, Rolling Stock CEO, added that “The beauty of forming this service group is that both of the finishing companies retain their independence but gain enhanced logistical and supply support, allied with greater flexibility and efficiency, to be able to tackle any project anywhere on the globe while not losing focus on our centre of operations in Palma de Mallorca.”

Rupert Savage, Rolling Stock MD, went on to say “Being aware of cultural and perceived differences between our companies, we felt it important to continue with our individual paint brands to remain loyal to existing clients, while benefiting from the vast experience and best practices of the enlarged group. In addition to our existing services, we will be launching ‘RS Finishing & Refinishing LITE’ – a paint division specifically focused on providing economical refinishing solutions for vessels under 30 metres.”

Late summer special offer on board 72m superyacht ARBEMA in the Western Mediterranean

Late summer special offer on board 72m superyacht ARBEMA in the Western Mediterranean

The chosen partner of the world's largest yachts.

The pinmar story.

We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved so far and, as we are now into our 49th year in business, we are happy to say that Pinmar is going from strength to strength.

Pinmar was founded in Mallorca, Spain in 1975 as a specialist yacht painting company focused on the new breed of superyachts over 40m. In 2012, Pinmar merged with its main local competitor Rolling Stock to form the Global Yachting Group, since renamed to GYG Ltd, which has grown to become one of the largest and most comprehensive service groups in the superyacht industry.

As part of GYG, Pinmar group companies include Pinmar Yacht Supply , our yacht chandlery and supply network, along with Technocraft , our in-house yacht scaffolding, containment and hardware removal business.

We’re also very proud to have developed the Pinmar Paint Standard , our industry's first comprehensive statement of how a client's expected paint finish should be measured and agreed. We continue to refine this Standard with the introduction of new products and application technologies.

We’ve refinished 100s of the world’s finest yachts and increasingly we’re involved in finishing some of the largest and most prestigious New Builds in many of the leading superyacht building yards.

During its 48-year history, Pinmar has expanded its operations across Europe including offices in Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona and La Ciotat, and established US operations with bases at Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Savannah, Georgia, as well as establishing partnerships with the largest New Build shipyards.

As the size and complexity of new superyachts continues to increase, Pinmar has also increased its capabilities, with the average yacht size for projects increasing from 55 metres to nearly 80 metres since 2012.

Today, Pinmar is recognised as the market leading brand in superyacht painting with a proven record of premium quality. This does not mean we rest on our laurels; we are totally committed to improving both quality and efficiency through continual innovation to meet the challenges of our evolving industry.

Research & Development

Pinmar has played a key role in recent years in driving the adoption of the latest technologies and application methods within the industry. Our equipment is developed to accommodate advancing technology whilst always being conscious of the environment.

Our pioneering adoption of electrostatic paint application in the European superyacht industry, recently introduced into the US superyacht Refit market as well , and a collaborative research project trialling the application methodology for a new spray filler product are good case points.

We are invested in sharing technologies across all our locations that yield a positive impact for the shipyards, the clients, the environment and better overall long-term performance for the yacht owners.

KEY PERSONNEL

Remy millott - chief executive officer.

Remy has over 40 years of yachting industry experience having commenced his offshore career in 1982, becoming one of the industry’s youngest yacht Captains at the time. He joined Pinmar in 1996 and became Managing Director in 2003, growing the company extensively. He has led several acquisitions and mergers at Pinmar since then, including the formation of GYG in 2012. As Group CEO he successfully listed GYG plc on the London AIM Stock Market in 2017 and continues in this role since taking the company private as GYG Ltd in 2022.

Rupert Savage - CCO/Director

Rupert was a highly respected yacht captain for over 16 years and is still a keen racing yachtsman. He moved ashore and joined Rolling Stock in 2006 where he became Managing Director and was instrumental in the development and growth of the business into a leading player in the yacht painting and service sector. Rupert has been responsible for the integration of the various Group companies, running the business on a day to day basis. He is now focused on the Group's commercial development and continues to be influential in the strategic growth of the business.

Ada Cañellas - Corporate Legal & HR Director

Ada has a Degree in Law from the University of Navarra, MBA from IESE and a Masters in human resources management. She began her career as a recruitment consultant and for the last 15 years she has directed Human Resources and Legal departments in technology, service, and food-based companies. Peter Brown - Director

Peter has been involved in the Superyacht industry for over 40 years, having had a successful career at sea, including as a yacht captain, for over 16 years. He joined Pinmar in 1998 to develop the Barcelona facility and later became the General Manager of Pinmar. Peter headed up the expansion of Pinmar into the New Build sector in Germany in 2005, after which he took over Pinmar's USA operations as Managing Director. As Peter continues to run the US business and its expansion, he also supports the Group and the CEO on special projects using his deep experience of the yachting industry.

Alexander Swain - President, North America

Alex brings more than 30 years of global business development and production management experience to Pinmar and is most recognised in the marine industry for his previous roles at MB92 Barcelona and more recently at Jotun’s global yachting division. During his 12 years in senior management at MB92, Alex was instrumental in delivering rapid, sustainable business growth while achieving customer quality expectations, and was part of the original team who formed the ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group. His specialist role at Jotun focused on the development of their global yachting division, including roll-out strategies in emerging markets such as the US and Asia. Alex will be responsible for Pinmar’s business operations in the USA and will provide greater synergy between our US and European operations. Alex will be sharing his time between Pinmar’s main USA bases at Rybovich West Palm Beach, Derecktors Fort Lauderdale and Savannah Yacht Centre as he looks to expand the company’s turnkey services with its existing partners and across the American superyacht market.

Manu Ayme - Sales Director

Manu Ayme joined Rolling Stock in 2006 in a logistical support role during the construction of two new builds in the South of Spain. After that he followed the business around Europe with extensive spells in Pendennis, Cartagena and Viareggio to eventually join up with the team at the Palma de Mallorca headquarters in the summer of 2008. During his time in Palma he held a number of management positions within the company, and after the merger with Pinmar in 2012 to create GYG he was co-heading the Groups’ global production division. His vast 'hands on' technical experience and management skills led to his latest role of Sales Director, where he applies his knowledge to perfectly understand our clients’ needs and can fulfil their expectations.

James Millott - Production Director

James began his career with Pinmar in 2006 in northern Germany. Starting out in logistics and quality control, he worked his way up to project manager and quickly showed a high level of technical understanding. Based in Germany for 9 years, James became the senior project manager for the company’s Northern European business, successfully completing many of the industry’s largest and most iconic new builds. In 2015, James became the joint head of production of GYG which is the parent company of Pinmar; he now splits his time between the company’s headquarters in Mallorca and overseas projects including the USA. Still heavily involved in every aspect of the Group’s production and quality control, James is working on the Group’s technical development in order to improve quality and efficiency. Built up over many years, James has vast technical and practical knowledge of the coatings business as well as working with very large teams on multiple projects in different locations which has been key in the Group’s international growth.

IGY and Fayat Awarded the Vieux Port De Cannes Concession

by igyuser | Feb 21, 2022

IGY and Fayat will develop and modernize the Old Port of Cannes, while respecting its identity, to make it a destination of excellence for local and international customers.

global yachting & training group sl

February 21, 2022 – Cannes, France – Marina du Vieux Port de Cannes SAS — whose shareholders are Island Global Yachting (IGY),  the international leader in marina management, and the French construction group Fayat — has signed a 30-year concession agreement with the City of Cannes to operate, enhance and modernize the Vieux Port de Cannes.

This emblematic destination, located in the heart of the French Riviera, features 727 berths and will be the 23rd marina in IGY’s worldwide network.

The investment program will include the creation by January 2024 of a fishermen’s village, the construction of a semi-covered 519 space parking lot (including 35 bus and coach spaces), the extension of the Albert Edouard Pier, the relocation and improvement of the careening area, the modernization of a technical area that includes the refueling station, as well as construction of a new Harbour Master’s Office and new service center.

To reinforce the heritage and attractiveness of the Vieux Port de Cannes — a central element of the cultural and historical identity of Cannes — the marina’s waterside will be enhanced to emphasize and host old riggings, classic sailboats, and traditional ships including local “pointus” boats.

The development program will modernize, enhance and increase the reception capacities of the land and port infrastructure of the Vieux Port de Cannes, notably for large vessels, and will improve the quality of services on offer for the benefit of port users.  More than ever, local boaters will have their place.

“ We are honored that the City of Cannes has entrusted IGY and Fayat with the management and development of this world-renowned site. Our team looks forward to providing our clients with hospitality solutions for all types of vessels by bringing IGY’s expertise and professional standards to the French Riviera,” said Tom Mukamal, CEO of IGY. “ We look forward to transforming the Vieux Port de Cannes into a best-in-class maritime destination that also includes top-tier events. “

“ Fayat is excited to be part of this team that will work together to revitalize Vieux Port de Cannes ,” adds Philippe Serain, Director of Concessions and PPP at Fayat. “ This project is very important for the City of Cannes and we are delighted to have been chosen with IGY to lead the modernization of this historic and iconic port .”

The action plan provides for new port services such as concierge services, an electric shuttle linking the Vieux Port de Cannes and Port Canto as well as the two areas within the Vieux Port de Cannes, and berths adapted for people with reduced mobility.

Ambitious environmental initiatives, such as a carbon offsetting program, a new power supply service for large ships, the acquisition of underwater drones for pollution inspection operations, the use of sustainable energy sources and zero-emission fuels, and active monitoring of water quality, will make Vieux Port de Cannes a model of ecological protection, technological innovation and sustainable development.

“ IGY and Fayat appreciate the opportunity to partner with the City of Cannes to enhance the service offering of the Vieux Port de Cannes and to introduce this exceptional destination to the global maritime community ,” says Emmanuel Messiaen, the new Port Director.

Closer integration of the Port into the local ecosystem will stimulate job growth, foster dialogue with Port stakeholders (such as the port authority, boater and fishermen’s associations, training organizations for sea trades and boat repairs, companies offering nautical activities, tourist office, conference organizers, and brokers) and increase synergies with other ports in the Cannes region.
