Ballast / Displacement RatioA measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize. Ballast / Displacement * 100 Displacement / Length RatioA measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. 1978 Vagabond 14. Boat and trailer are both in good condition and ready to sail today. No cracks or leaks. Fast, roomy, comfortable and stable - an ideal daysailer that is great for families. The boat is light (265 lbs.) and easy to tow by almost any vehicle.
Vagabond 14 hull, mast and trailer. No daggerboard, tiller, rudder or sails. The hull and mast are in very good shape. The trailer is not road worth. Recipient must take all.

Designed to determine if a boat has blue water capability. The CSF compares beam with displacement since excess beam contributes to capsize and heavy displacement reduces capsize vulnerability. The boat is better suited for ocean passages (vs coastal cruising) if the result of the calculation is 2.0 or less.
Used (normal wear), 1981 vagabond 14' sailboat with trailer. Main sail and Jib sail with good lines and rigging. Excellent cond. Very stable and is a perfect boat to learn to sail. .

1978 Vagabond 14, Wingate, Texas, $1,500, sold 8/23/05. Day sailor with daggerboard and kick-up rudder. Dilly trailer with 1 7/8" ball hitch, dolly and bearing buddies. The lights will probably need some attention, as they have not been hooked up in about 2 years.
1979 Vagabond 14. Overall it is in good condition. Sails (jib & main) are in fine condition. Original cast aluminum chain plates have been replaced/upgraded to the standard hobie stainless steal. Dagger board and rudder are seaworthy but could use some attention. The cosmetic teek trim is missing. Lines and rigging are in good shape.
