Yacht Azzam - Lurssen yachts

  • The best luxury yachts in the world
  • Inspiration

Published on September 08, 2023 Updated on September 04, 2024

The world’s most impressive yachts often drop anchor in the waters of Monaco, making Port Hercules, port of call or home port to many luxury boats, a major attraction. True floating second homes, these vessels have amazing features. Taller, longer, faster: which luxury boats are the most impressive? See the images of ten marvels of navigation and on-board leisure to find out.

  • The most famous contemporary megayacht: the Eclipse
  • The Lady Moura, a megayacht pioneer

The largest private yacht: the Azzam

  • The Dubai, a megayacht for the homebody
  • The Al Saïd, the most music-loving of yachts
  • The largest megayacht: the Dilbar

The Al Mirqab, an ocean-coloured yacht

A yacht that loves the wind: the a, the black pearl, the eco-designed superyacht.

  • A yacht to clean the sea: the Rev Ocean
  • Koru, the unusual yacht for an unusual owner

A yacht project too good to be true: the Streets of Monaco

  • The History Supreme: an endlessly floating hoax

The yacht, from competition to luxury

Towards a new kind of yacht, the most famous of modern megayachts: the eclipse.

During the 2010s, the Eclipse placed at or near the top of many luxury boat rankings. The largest yacht in the world when it was launched in 2009, measuring 162.5 metres from stern to bow, the vessel is the pride of manufacturer Blohm + Voss, a specialist in extraordinary custom-made vessels. Owned by Roman Abramovich, this beautiful white figure acts as a helicopter carrier (with two dedicated landing strips), floating residence (24 very high-class rooms) and coastal trade vessel. In the winter, the Eclipse makes its way to the island of Saint-Barthélemy and escorts the football magnate’s guests from the local airport to his villa.

The Lady Moura, megayacht pioneer

Exemplar for today’s megayachts, the Lady Moura was, at its launch in 1990, a crown jewel of high-end shipbuilding. The ship has been traversing the world’s major marinas for 30 years. When it is not not setting sail around the Balearic Islands, it can often be found in Port Hercules, where it drops anchor for the summer. Sold in 2021, the vessel had undergone a high quality interior restoration in the 2010s.

Emblematic event combining exclusivity, elegance and innovation, the Monaco Yacht Show has established itself as the must-attend international yachting event.

Yachts lovers, dive into a world of grandeur and excellence, and experience a total immersion in the yachting's world. Come and discover the finest collection of superyachts from September 27 to 30, 2023, in the Principality of Monaco.

The largest private yacht as of 2023 is cloaked in mystery: the Azzam, a white 180 metre-long superyacht capable of reaching a comfortable 32-knot cruising speed (60 km/h), is also the epitome of discreet, despite its size. Its owners, heirs to the royal family of the Emir of Abu Dhabi, have kept all details of the boat’s interior behind closed doors, except for its capacity to welcome 36 guests in its relaxing Empire atmosphere, created by French designer Christophe Leoni. Celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, the boat has an annual maintenance cost of $50 million.

Manufacturer: Lürssen - Length: 180 m - Estimated cost: €500 million

The Dubai, a homebody megayacht

At 162 metres long, the Dubai now ranks second place in the world’s largest luxury ships. Created by Blohm + Voss, it is a kind of floating annex to the Emir of Dubai’s palace, which keeps its precious ship in Emirati waters virtually year-round. Able to accommodate 120 cruise passengers, this sea giant has a dining room for 90 guests, a submarine, two speedboats for outings, not to mention a night club, a squash court and a cinema.

Manufacturer: Blohm + Voss - Length: 162 m - Estimated cost: €400 million

Yacht Le Dubaï

The Al Said, the best yacht for music lovers

The Gulf’s royal families are amongst the most keen buyers of luxury boats, as evidenced by the Al Said, the fourth longest yacht in the world, owned by the Sultan of Oman. Launched in 2008, the boat fancies itself a melomaniac’s paradise. In addition to its cabins, a heliport and a private pool, it boasts a dedicated concert hall, where 50 performers can take the stage.

Manufacturer: Lürssen - Length: 155 m - Estimated cost: €250 million

The heftiest megayacht: the Dilbar

A true star of yacht design, Andrew Winch made headlines in 2016 at the inauguration of Dilbar, one of the largest yachts in the world and his latest creation. Named after the mother of its first owner, Alisher Usmanov, the ship has some spectacular features; notably, its huge indoor pool, teak decks and two heliports.

Manufacturer: Lürssen - Length: 156 m - Estimated cost: €650 million

With its pretty navy blue hull overlooked by two white decks, the Al Mirqab is easy to spot each time it visits Port Hercules. Designed by Andrew Winch, the ship’s interior includes 10 suites, a cinema, a swimming pool, and more. Outside, bars and jacuzzis round out the luxurious facilities of this 133 metre-long boat that spends most of its cruising time in the Greek Cyclades.

Manufacturer: Peters Werft - Length: 133 m - Estimated cost: €250 million

Designed by Philippe Starck, the A stands out from other megayachts, with a threemast sailing ship silhouette. While it is engine-propelled, of course, its sails provide this 143 metre-long sea giant with surplus speed and energy efficiency. Such enginesail hybrids are also a serious option for commercial navigation, and the A is a particularly luxurious “prototype”. Delivered to its owner in Port Hercules, Monaco in 2017, the yacht features a cosy atmosphere, and incorporates an underwater observation pod directly on its keel, among other luxury activities that can take place on board.

Curved metal yardarms, three gigantic masts and propelled mostly by sail, the Black Pearl stands out as a “different” superyacht. A jewel of nautical technology, this exceptional ship relies on innovative machinery to cross the seas while consuming almost no fossil fuel, at the same time ensuring its fourteen passengers the most luxurious cruise.

Manufacturer: Oceanco - Length: 106 m - Estimated cost: €180 million

A yacht to clean the seas: the Rev Ocean

It is 182 metres long, belongs to a billionaire, and rises to the standards of today’s megayachts. But the Rev Ocean is not actually designed for entertaining its passengers. Upon its 2024 commissioning, this large, beautiful ship will have the mission of removing five tonnes of plastic from the oceans per day, all while carrying out anti-pollution scientific research in situ.

Manufacturer: VARD - Length: 182 m - Estimated cost: €400 million

Yacht le Rev Ocean - VARD

The Koru, an extraordinary yacht with an extraordinary owner

With a name inspired by the Maori, the Koru gives pride of place to power: this threemaster propelled by engine and sail was so gigantic that its manufacturer initially planned to dismantle a bridge so that the ship could leave Rotterdam. Although this operation was ultimately unnecessary, the vessel now sails accompanied by a protective annex, the Abeona, which serves as an auxiliary heliport and escort to Jeff Bezos’ superyacht.

Manufacturer: Oceanco - Length: 127 m - Estimated cost: €450 million

Super- and megayachts are the stuff of dreams, which sometimes brings about media coverage of crazy projects, real buzz machines for the sensationalist press. The Streets of Monaco concept falls into this category. This study in style proposes recreating some of Monaco’s emblematic landmarks (the starting line of the Circuit, the Prince’s Palace, etc.) on a floating deck 150 metres in length. This is a true challenge that would require a billion-dollar investment, all for a result that could not possible measure up to the original: there is only one Monaco, and it is firmly anchored on land!

The History Supreme: a hoax still afloat

Often showcased in sensationalist articles, the History Supreme has caused quite the buzz in the media: a supposed megayacht project using a hundred tonnes of gold and platinum for interior decoration... In short, it is a fantasy worth hundreds of millions euros that is unlikely to come to fruition, despite articles that repeatedly cite the project as the most expensive yacht in the world.

Yachts L'History Supreme

Yacht: Whether sail- or motor-powered, the yacht is a private leisure craft with a deck. It was originally a type of racing sailboat.

Superyacht: The term “superyacht” is usually used to refer to private vessels that are more than 30 metres long and have a crew year-round.

Megayacht: “Megayacht” is not an official regulatory category, but this term designates any private vessel more than 80 metres long that can accommodate at least 25 people in its crew.

Yacht

In English, “yacht” initially described any boat not used for commercial or military purposes. The term referred to a pleasure boat, and then, from the 19th century, a competition sailboat, whose name could be found in boating clubs such as the Royal Thames Yacht Club, the New York Yacht Club or the Yacht Club of Monaco, a descendant of the “Regatta Society”. Yachts faced off in challenges that later became famous, such as the America’s Cup, named after the New York schooner that won in 1851. The meaning of the word then evolved with the advent of motoryachts, motorised pleasure craft that are now commonly known as simply “yachts”.

With its trade shows particularly Monaco Yacht Show and recent constructions, the luxury boat sector is regularly in the news. In the future, and as in all transport industries, its propulsion model should evolve towards engines that emit less CO2 and sulphur. This is why designers are currently turning to hydrogen engines, solar sails and traditional sails as serious alternatives to fossil fuel engines.

Our fleet of charter yachts features vessels built by pedigree shipbuilders, including Lürssen, Feadship, Amels, Nobiskrug, and Oceanco. Contact our team today.

What is the Advanced Provisioning Allowance, or APA?

The Advanced Provisioning Allowance, or APA, is designed to cover non-fixed costs, such as fuel, berthing costs, and food and drinks. Your luxury yacht broker will provide an estimated APA based on your needs. The APA is paid before the charter, and the captain will use the funds to cover your day-to-day costs. Any funds left at the end of the charter will be immediately refunded to you, along with a full breakdown of all expenses. During your yacht charter experience, you are free to ask the captain for details of the APA, including what has been used and what remains. The APA typically costs around 10% of the base charter rate.

What amenities can I expect on a luxury yacht?

The type of amenities you can expect on a luxury yacht will depend on the size of the vessel, with larger yachts able to accommodate a larger number of amenities. Moran Yacht & Ship has access to a superb selection of Monaco motor yachts for charter, including the world’s largest vessels. Some of the amenities you can expect to find on our Monaco yachts for rent include hot tubs, swimming pools, dedicated cinema rooms, fully equipped gyms, spa facilities, water toys and tenders, helipads, beach clubs, and luxurious salons and staterooms. This natural, deep-water port is just moments away from Monte-Carlo, home to Monaco’s most extravagant amenities. With depths ranging from 5 to 40 meters, Port Hercules can accommodate the world’s largest mega yachts. The port provides a wide range of yachting facilities, as well as the superb Monaco Yacht Club, designed by the world-renowned British architect Lord Norman Foster.

Port of Fontvieille

This well-protected harbor is a smaller port than Port Hercules and is located in the district of Fontvieille, a vibrant residential and commercial area that borders France. Berths in this marina are all reserved in advance, and it does not accept transiting vessels.

Port of Cala del Forte

The Port of Cala del Forte is Monaco’s newest marina; however, it’s actually located just over the border in Ventimiglia, Italy. The port boasts world-class facilities, with a waterfront with luxury shops, restaurants, and a shipyard. Regular high-speed shuttles run daily between the Port of Cala del Forte and Port Hercules and are reserved strictly for guests of this Monaco marina.

How many crew members will my luxury yacht charter have?

The number of crew members will depend on the size of the vessel. At a minimum, you can expect at least three crew members, including a captain, deckhand, and stewardess, with the largest Monaco yachts for charter boasting a crew in excess of 20 plus, including dive masters and trained watersports operators, sommeliers, spa therapists, personal trainers, and a dedicated culinary team.

Guide to Monaco

Live life in the fast lane in Europe’s jetset capital

Sitting like a sparkling jewel on the French Riviera , Monaco’s allure stems from a hedonistic blend of exclusive urban luxury, spectacular surroundings and timeless elegance. It has long been a playground for the world’s elite where world-class restaurants and chandeliered palace hotels line the winding streets in unabashed glamour and dazzling charisma.

Nestled beneath the Maritime Alps and lapped by the Mediterranean Sea, what this tiny principality lacks in size, it certainly makes up for in atmosphere. The harbour acts as a natural focus, where magnificent superyachts gather in a mesmerising display of opulence. Tumbling hills rise up on one side to the winding lanes of Monaco Ville, and the sparkling Monte Carlo on the other.

Unofficial capital, Monte Carlo, is home to the annual Monaco Grand Prix held every May. Watching the enthralling blur of Formula One cars roaring around the streets from the comfort of your charter yacht and glass of chilled champagne in hand is truly unbeatable. The sense of escapism here creates a perfect summer luxury yacht charter destination where you can really experience and appreciate the high-life.

As you pull into Monaco’s glittering harbour, the sense of buzzing energy sizzles in the air, enriched by the wealth of arts, culture and world-renowned cuisine, all within walking distance of one another. Enjoy breakfast al fresco from the top deck of your luxury charter yacht, the best place to see the warmth of the Mediterranean morning burst into action.

Ruled by the Grimaldi dynasty, its manicured streets are presided over by palaces, lush fountained parks and picturesque Belle époque buildings. By day you can wander down the charming streets of the fortified Old Town before spending an afternoon strolling around the serene and beautiful Jardin Exotique. Sleek, marble-floored shopping areas brimming with designer boutiques exemplify the regions beautiful and stylish reputation, with a range of Michelin starred restaurants providing a luxurious choice for lunch.

As the sun goes down, the energy intensifies as chic bars and sleek restaurants fill with people embarking on a night of glamour-filled revelry. Be captivated by the world-renowned Monte Carlo Ballet or try your luck in the famous casinos that dominate Monaco’s nightlife. Monaco is a thrilling charter destination that embraces its decadence and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.

The summer holiday destination of royals, A-listers, and the world's most famous personalities is the ultimate place for upscale shopping, high-class casinos, and the world's most luxurious superyachts docked on the marina. With an area of 2.020 km2, Monaco is the second-smallest country in the world. Although it is very small in size; the country is a glamorous and extravagant gateway for tourists. It is one of the most expensive and wealthiest places on the planet. The country has princes and princesses, grand lifestyle, first-class restaurants, magnificent hotels, million dollar boats, and luxurious yachts.

Monaco is a great place to begin the amazing experience of a luxury  Cote d'Azur yacht charter . Many people charter a private yacht in the Cote d'Azur to involve themselves in the excitement and frivolity of Monaco. Synonymous with the annual Grand Prix , the casinos and the decadent indulgence of living that comes with any tax-free haven, Monaco is a hub of wealth, glamour and superyachts. Monaco is one of the classic  Mediterranean harbours many of us have dreamed about relaxing on the aft deck of a luxury yacht.

The Cost To Charter a Yacht in Monaco:

Monaco yacht charter prices vary according to the size, style and age of the yacht. Our luxury superyacht charter yachts rent from 30,000 Euro to over 1,000,000 per week, plus expenses, in the form of an advanced provisioning allowance (APA). Conversely, smaller 'all inclusive' type vacations cost between Euro 15,000 to 50,000 per week.

Superyachting in Monaco: Some Tips

Monaco immediately springs to mind when you think about luxury superyachts. It’s a destination in the heart of the French Riviera with the striking cities of Cannes and Nice close by. Monaco’s harbour is home to some of the most beautiful yachts in the world, especially during the summer months when the rich and famous flock to the region to enjoy a summer of spectacular events.

Noted mostly for its famous Formula 1 Grand Prix race which takes place in May each year, Monaco is also a superyacht hotspot and luxury yacht charter groups arrive in Port Hercules marina to the glitter of city lights. With its twisting streets, amazing restaurants, fabulous shopping opportunities and party atmosphere, Monaco should definitely be put on your yacht charter bucket list.

Port Hercules is well sought after as a place to berth, especially throughout the more popular months of the year. There are plenty of facilities here such as electricity, fuel and fresh water. What’s more there are also 30 berths for superyachts of 25m-30m and 20 berths for 30m yachts and over.

Whether you’re on a yacht charter vacation or visiting, the principality of Monaco is the place to see and be seen. The Monaco yachting season finishes in September with the Monaco Yacht Show, a prestigious event showcasing the latest superyacht concepts and launches – an opportunity not to be missed.

The best time to visit Monaco on a luxury yacht is from May to September. July and August are very busy months packed with local events at the height of the summer weather, while May and September play host to the motor race of the year as well as the yacht show. Both of these highlights attract thousands of people, so reserve a superyacht sooner rather than later so you don’t miss out on the delights of Monaco.

It’s worth leaving your yacht to taste the fine dining in some of Monaco’s best restaurants, such as the Louis XV restaurant at the Hotel de Paris. This is one of the grandest restaurants in Monaco which has been awarded three Michelin stars.

A less formal restaurant can be found at the Monte Carlo Beach Hotel, where guests can savour mouth-watering sea food while absorbing the spectacular views. As an alternative venue, Le Vistamar at the Hermitage Hotel overlooks the harbour for anther stunning view while dining alfresco from the gorgeous terrace.

For shopaholics, there are no shortages of shopping opportunities here. With its glamour and wealth, Monaco has the major fashion labels and high-end luxury goods. In the Metropole and Fontvieille shopping centres, there’s a huge variety of stores to choose from to shop till you drop. Jewellery shops stock famous brands like Bulgari, Piaget, Van Cleef and Cartier, so head for the Place du Casino for a day of indulgence.

When it comes to partying, Monaco just can’t be beaten. It’s a top Mediterranean destination for party lovers with most of the action taking place on the yachts anchored in Port Hercules. Over the Grand Prix weekend, Jimmy’z nightclub is a wonderful place where many of the rich and famous head to.

With so many places in Monaco to see, make sure to arrange your itinerary to take in Monte Carlo Casino and the Opera House. The Prince’s Palace and the Oceanographic Museum are two other popular attractions. Fort Antoine is an early XVIII century fortress which is now used as an outdoor theatre. Seating up to 350 people it’s a sight out of the ordinary. The Jardin Exotique is another destination worth visiting:, set on a steep cliff with lush, green gardens and a backdrop of the beautiful blue Mediterranean Sea.

What to wear in Monaco largely depends on where you go. While swimwear is acceptable on board your superyacht or at the beach, once you leave your yacht it’s good etiquette to dress elegantly or smart-casual. One of the most exciting things in Monaco is to see how people dress when out socialising. It’s often like a fashion parade wherever you go, so put your best clothes on and join the party.

The traffic can be very congested during the hot, summer months so be prepared for traffic: If you were considering driving, getting around in Monaco is easier by taxi. Lots of people use Monaco’s heliports plus there’s a useful shuttle service between Nice Airport and Monaco itself.

Monaco is an important part of any French Riviera, yacht charter vacation on either a sailing or power boat. Despite the trend toward materialism, this tiny principality is steeped in history and natural beauty. Explore the old medieval town home to the Prince's Palace and the Oceanographic Museum; stroll through the exotic botanical gardens; take a swim in the heated saltwater pools or do a workout in the sport complex attached to the yachting harbour. Everything you need is in close proximity to where the charter yachts are moored as the principality is merely one square mile in total size.

Indulge in a bowl of the famous Soup de Poisson, at one of the lovely wharf side restaurants. Better still, step aboard your charter yacht and enjoy a glass of crisp, cold French Chablis, as you watch the glamorous world go by. From Monaco, head west along the French Riviera toward Villefranche or St Jean Cap Ferrat , followed by Nice , Antibes , Cannes , St Tropez and then on to the Iles d'Hyeres where you'll find some quaint and scenic anchorages, small villages, and authentic French restaurants. Believe it or not, they do still exist! Monaco is also a great northern point to begin a yacht charter vacation down the spectacular Italian Riviera .

ClubSwan Reception - Yacht Club de Monaco

Another event of interest in Monaco is the Monaco Yacht Show which is held annually in September at Port Hercules. The show brings together professionals from the international luxury yachting sector including luxury yacht builders, brokers, designers, equipment suppliers, and service providers to show off the latest and greatest luxury yachts for sale in Monaco. The Show is the only one worldwide which is exclusively devoted to superyachts for sale and is the largest floating luxury yacht display in Europe of super and mega yachts.

As one of the most famous yacht charter grounds in the Mediterranean, Monaco and the French Riviera have all types of yacht charter available including motor, sailing, crewed yachts, catamaran, luxury yachts and of-course the ever increasing super yacht charter. The emphasis in Monaco is on larger private luxury yacht charters.

Monaco

Like most of the Mediterranean, the Monaco and French Riviera yacht chartering season generally runs from April to the end of October. The summer season in July and August is the hottest and tends to have the lightest winds. This is also the high season as far as yacht charter goes. Other good times to charter your yacht is generally on either of the shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October), each side of the main summer season, as the temperatures are still comfortable, and the onshore tourists have yet to arrive in their largest numbers.

Top 10 reasons to Charter a Superyacht In Monaco

In addition to what has already been mentioned above about yachting in the Principality, here is a list of reasons what you should consider putting Monaco on your Mediterranean charter itinerary.

1. When it comes to a charter yacht holiday Monaco ticks most of the right boxes. Located on the French Riviera in Western Europe, it overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and borders Italy and France and is only around eight miles north east of Nice and a little further from Antibes, Cannes and St Tropez.

2. Spend a few days in Monaco and go high-end shopping. There's a fantastic selection of exclusive boutiques such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Hermes and Yves Saint Laurent, what a selection for the world's second smallest country. Also the restaurants, nightlife and beach clubs are well known in the area.

3. Head for one of Monaco's two famous ports, Port Hercule and Port of Fontvieille to drop anchor. Some of the world's most expensive superyachts can be seen here, sometimes with celebrities onboard. To give you an idea of the size Monaco's ports are, despite the Principality’s extremely modest size, there's enough mooring and anchoring space for up to five hundred vessels.

4. On your Monaco charter itinerary don't forget to include the Monaco Grand Prix. It's one of the most famous car races in the world taking place every year in May, an event not to be missed. Imagine combining the Monaco Grand Prix with a superyacht charter vacation – wow!

5. The beautiful French Riviera sovereign state of Monaco also has a glorious beach, Larvotto Beach. During your time here chill out, top up your tan and go for a swim in the Med. Have a drink and a meal at one of the beach bars while watching the world go by.

6. Each year the French Riviera and Monaco in particular host around 50% of the world's superyacht fleet. It's a major tourist attraction with an unrivalled coastline, a beautiful town with stunning views across the Med. Monaco is also home to the House of the Grimaldi family, see if you can spot one of the Royals on your visit.

7. The Monaco Yacht Show is one of the most prestigious events of the year. Held annually towards the end of September it's the place to be to enjoy an exciting exhibition of superyacht charter vessels, high-tech nautical products and even complimentary boat shuttle services.

8. Why not arrange for your motor yacht to sail to the different anchorages around Monaco so you can enjoy your superyacht charter's inflatable water toys? There's something for everyone from jet skis to sea bobs, inflatable tubes, scuba diving and snorkeling equipment. After a fun day of activity out in the Med, an onboard chef will prepare a sumptuous evening meal.

9. Make sure your vacation includes a visit to one of Monaco's five casinos. The world famous Casino de Monte-Carlo is the place to be seen. There's a wide range of table games like Roulette, Black Jack, Chemin de Fer and Punto Banco. Try your luck, you never know you might be a winner.

10. For comfort and pleasure you can't beat staying on board a yacht to combine elegance, sophistication and the freedom to dock in amazing locations like Monaco. On board you can expect a five star personalized service, superior facilities and amenities as well as splendid cabins for the ultimate in relaxation.

Monaco Yacht Charter Enquiry

The cruise was fantastic and the "Impulse" is a truly comfortable and luxurious yacht and we all enjoyed our team there very much. Everything was perfectly prepared when we arrived and the crew was amazing --- Jolande is a fantastic and creative chef who created the most delicious food always wonderfully presented (I very much enjoyed joining her early morning in St. Tropez on her shopping tour to the fish market and other lovely butchers, bakeries and cheese shop where we found the most delicious ingredients for her magical cooking), Bernadette took care of us in the most friendly and attentive way and last but not least Tim, a very helpful and insightful skipper who showed us the most beautiful places. The "Impulse" is a wonderful yacht but the crew made us feel right away at "home" amongst friends. To make a long story short, the cruise was a wonderful and most enjoyable experience and I'm sure it was not the last time I spend time on the "Impulse". An insider’s guide to the most exciting yachts on display at the 2024 monaco yacht show, from eco-conscious dreamboats to the world’s most expensive charter superyachts..

It’s time once again for the world’s yachting elite to set sail for the Principality for the ultimate superyacht event of the year, the Monaco Yacht Show . Taking place in and around Port Hercules from September 25th-28th, the gathering is the ultimate showcase of the best of the industry, attracting thousands of owners, potential owners and luxury yachting enthusiasts to our shores every year. The 2024 edition looks set to be even more spectacular than previous years, with an incredible number of world-class yachts that have been commended for their innovation, pioneering technologies or show-stopping design confirmed to appear. Read on for selection of our favourites to look out for.

Best for: Luxury chartering

MYS 24

At 122 m in length, Kismet is set to be the largest new superyacht on display at the Monaco Yacht Show. Chartering for €3 million per week with Cecil Wright, she’s also one of the most expensive charter yachts on the seas—and for good reason. Built by prestigious German shipyard Lürssen with an incredible design vision behind her— Nuvolari Lenard penned her head-turning exterior while Reymond Langton Design styled her incredible interior—she’s a force to be reckoned with. A floating wellness sanctuary, Kismet is kitted out with all the latest amenities, including a Balinese spa with a hammam and cryotherapy chamber. She also features a boatload of entertainment facilities, a gigantic owner’s suite and a beautiful, elongated bow with a helipad. On top of that, she’s got one of the highest guest-to-crew ratios in the industry, with 40 crew tending to 12 guests. If you’re lucky enough to get up close, look out for the Jaguar emblem on the bow spirit—a nod to her owner, Jacksonville Jaguars proprietor Shahid Khan.

Best for: Electric elegance

yacht in monaco

Forget everything you know about electric yachts and meet Seawolf X, a hybrid-electric multihull that’s innovative both inside and out. One of the most unique yachts on display at the Monaco Yacht Show, the 42.8-m yacht built by Italian yard Rossinavi features fast-charging batteries and solar panels that allow her to cruise for an entire day in electric mode—or at 90 percent for multiple days. Ideal for eco-conscious cruisers, Seawolf X sleeps 12 in five inviting cabins and features calming interiors designed by Meyer Davis and inspired by the sun, sea and sand. She’s available to charter with Cecil Wright from €380,000 per week.

Best for: Al fresco living

yacht in monaco

Making her world debut at the Monaco Yacht Show is a new all-aluminium yacht from Turkish yard Alia Yachts, SAN. The 45 m custom yacht is designed for al fresco living, with open-plan decks that blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor areas. Described as a “marvel of modern engineering and design”, she features minimalistic yet elegant styling by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design and sleek naval architecture by Lateral Naval Architects. From the panoramic glass windows that frame the main salon to the fold-out bulwarks on the aft deck, everything has designed to enhance the guests’ connection with the ocean.

Best for: Incredible interiors

yacht in monaco

The most expensive superyacht for sale at the Monaco Yacht Show is also one of its finest. Built by Dutch yard Oceanco and sailing in fresh from an extensive three-year rebuild with upgraded design by Reymond Langton, H3 is now looking for a new guardian; for an asking price of €295 million with Edmiston. The 105 m yacht is packed full of unique amenities including a giant spa and wellness area and an impressive owner’s suite with a climate-controlled winter garden, as well as a host of elegant design features such as a waterfall. Sleeping 20 guests, H3 is said to offer the “perfect combination of design, lifestyle and accommodation”, and the industry seems to agree—she’s received myriad accolades including the Robb Report Monaco Côte d’Azur 2024 Best of the Best Award for Best Yacht Rebuild.

Best for: Conscious cruising

yacht in monaco

In a significant step towards carbon neutrality, Sanlorenzo is set to unveil 50Steel, the world’s first superyacht with a green methanol fuel cell system. The revolutionary set-up, developed with Siemens Energy, will transform green methanol into hydrogen and then into electrical energy, and will be capable of powering all the yacht’s hotel systems without storing hydrogen on board. Other special features of the 50 m yacht include a “hidden” engine room, an expandable beach club on the aft and innovative styling by Zuccon International Project—spacious, multi-level living areas have been engineered to create the feeling of open-plan living.

SERENISSIMA I

Best for: Mediterranean escapes

yacht in monaco

New from Turkish yard Mengi Yay, SERENISSIMA I combines the best of Turkish craftsmanship with Italian design by Nuvolari Lenard. The custom 47 m tri-deck superyacht, which is currently on sale for an asking price of €35.8 million with Northrop & Johnson, is perfect for the sunny climate of the Med. She features a dedicated owner’s deck with a private terrace and hot tub, a spacious sundeck offering sweeping views, and amenities including a gentleman’s lounge with a cinema room, a walk-in wine cellar and al fresco entertainment spaces with glass panels that can shelter the aft from the wind while on the move. There’s also a cosy firepit for cooler evenings and plenty of water toys to keep guests entertained all day long.

ETERNAL SPARK

Best for: Form and function

yacht in monaco

Eternal Spark, a standout in the Bilgin 163 series, beautifully blends elegant design with practical functionality. Featuring expansive, sheltered decks and a sleek, sporty exterior, the 50 m yacht offers ample space for entertainment and relaxation. Eternal Spark has undergone significant customisations, including an extended stern and a redesigned aft area allowing more space. Inside, the yacht features refined details including natural embossed leather, soft colours and a balanced aesthetic that stretches across six inviting cabins, sleeping 12 guests. Powered by twin 1,450 CAT engines, Eternal Spark achieves a top speed of approximately 17 knots, while maintaining low operational costs. It’s a win-win all round.

Best for: Tender viewing

yacht in monaco

With so many exciting yachts on show in Port Hercules, it’s also worth jumping in a tender to explore one of the many yachts at anchor just outside the marina. One such superyacht will be Aalto, a well-maintained 80 m Oceanco yacht built in 2007 and now on sale with Burgess for €79.7 million, and for sale and charter with Edmiston, renting from €775,000 per week. A tried-and-tested family boat, she is home to a vast owner’s suite and eight guest cabins, a large sun deck with a pool and water jets, and a giant garage overflowing with toys and tenders. Her striking, angular exterior styling is by Italian firm Nuvolari Lenard and her elegant interiors, featuring surprisingly large volumes, were penned by Paris-based studio Alberto Pinto.

Best for: Classic sailing

yacht in monaco

Designed by Ron Holland and built by Perini Navi, 56 m sailing yacht Fidelis perfectly blends luxury living with long-range cruising capability. Her highly contemporary interiors are spacious and elegant, while the vessel itself has proven reliability for global exploration. In fact, she’s never stopped sailing since she was delivered, voyaging along the Amazon, visiting Desolation Island and Australia, rounding both Capes, and beyond. If you’re ready for a sailing adventure like no other, Fidelis is currently on sale asking €32 million with Edmiston.

Best for: Turning heads

yacht in monaco

Mould-breaking superyacht Energy pushes boundaries in more ways than one. Designed to “defy convention and find ways to connect with the ocean”, the 77.8 m vessel brought together some of Europe’s greatest talents: she was built by Dutch shipyard Amels, with Monaco-based naval architect Espen Øino drafted in to pen the exteriors, and French designer Francois Zuretti in charge of the expansive interiors. Among the highlights are seven luxurious cabins, including an owner’s deck with a private terrace, lounge and firepit; a music lounge with a Steinway piano and a marble-topped bar; and a giant beach club, wellness spa and gym with a sea terrace. Energy was custom-built for its current owner and has only been used privately since her 2022 delivery, meaning she’s almost as good as new. She’s currently for sale, asking €199 million with Burgess and Cecil Wright

NIGHT FURY II

Best for: Watching from the waves

yacht in monaco

The latest launch from the Atlantique line by Columbus Yachts, owned by Palumbo Superyachts, might be its most eye-catching yet. The Atlantique 43 m Night Fury II is as fierce as its name suggests and yet manages to retain a softness, thanks to her curved shelllike external lines inspired by classic sailing. Designed by Hot Lab to an “architecture for voyagers” philosophy, the motor yacht features generous entertaining and relaxation spaces that connect the indoors and outdoors, as well as design elements that are both stylistic and functional. Designed for an owner and their family, Night Fury II is a private yacht and not available to charter, but that doesn’t stop us wanting to view her from the waves.

Best for: Italian styling

yacht in monaco

Launched in July 2024, AKULA is fresh out of the Baglietto shipyard in Italy. She brings together some of the finest Italian names in the business, including Francesco Paszkowski who penned her sleek, modern, exterior lines and expansive outdoor spaces, and Enrico Gobbi’s Team For Design who styled her luxurious, versatile interiors. She cuts a commanding silhouette on the water, accented by her elegant grey hull. Highlights on board include a multi-level beach club, a spacious sun deck which is said to be the largest in its class, a pool on the main deck and a gym with a view. The yacht sleeps 12 and is available to charter from around €267,000 per week with IYC.

Best for: Long-range adventures

yacht in monaco

If you’re looking for adventures further afield, the Oceano 44 could be the winning ticket. A magnificent displacement three-decker from Italian yacht builder Mangusta’s long-range line, the 44 m yacht aims to “radically reinterpret the way life at sea can be enjoyed”. Built at Overmarinroup’s manufacturing site in Pisa with design by Monaco-based designer Alberto Mancini, she creates a harmonious connection between indoor and outdoor areas thanks to an extensive use of glazed surfaces. Interiors are luxurious, calming and contemporary, with the eye consistently being drawn to the ocean outside. Standout spaces in the exterior include the stunning pool, which features a partial transparent bottom that shines natural light into a full-beam owner’s suite, the beach club with fold-out terraces, and a sunbathing area surrounded by water that’s been dubbed the “island”. With an impressive range of 4,500 nautical miles and in-built stabilisers guaranteeing a comfortable cruise, the Oceano 44 could be the perfect choice for those seeking longer trips to more far-flung destinations across the globe.

WALLYWIND110

Best for: Catching the wind

Making its world debut at the Monaco Yacht Show, the wallywind110 will be the first launch from Monacobased Wally Yachts’ wallywind performance cruiser range. The anticipated 33.4 m vessel is set to be one of the fastest sailing yachts on the water. Slicing through the waves with her sleek bow and metallic-blue all-carbon hull, she will be impossible to miss while underway. At anchor, she remains just as captivating as she transforms into a sanctuary of relaxation and entertainment thanks to her wide decks hosting 15 people. Below deck, discover a full-beam owner’s suite with twin bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes, plus three guest cabins, a light-filled salon and an office.

Best for: Cruising in comfort

yacht in monaco

One of the latest launches from Dutch shipyard Heesen, ELA is packed full of charter-friendly amenities, including luxurious suites for 12 guests, a variety of flexible interior spaces and a boatload of fun facilities such as a gym and sauna, an alfresco cinema, a spacious beach club and an on-deck hot tub. The 50 m fast displacement motor yacht is ideal for cruising in the Mediterranean or Caribbean, and stands out on the water with her sleek silhouette. Inside, guests can enjoy exceptional contemporary design from Italian designer Cristiano Gatto, while in the garage, a huge arsenal of water toys is waiting to be enjoyed. A popular charter yacht, ELA is currently for sale at €39 million with Edmiston, and available for charter from ¤250,000 per week in the winter and €300,000 in the summer with Y.CO and IYC.

RENAISSANCE

Best for: Large group charters

Accommodating up to 36 guests in 19 cabins, the 112 m superyacht Renaissance has one of the most generous capacities in the industry. Built by Spanish shipyard Freire, she’s incredibly well outfitted for chartering, offering everything guests could desire. Standout facilities include a giant spa deck with wellness, beauty and fitness areas; a stunning beach club; a large pool; a cinema seating 19; and an entertainment zone with a sushi bar, BBQ and DJ set-up. The owner’s deck, meanwhile, is simply palatial, with private fore and aft decks featuring space for private dining, a private lounge and bar, and much more. Renaissance is available for charter with Burgess from around €2.7 million per week.

Best for: Compact comfort

yacht in monaco

Proving that bigger does not always mean better, Italian shipyard Tankoa’s first model under 50 m is compact yet comfortable. Go, the first launch from the T450 series, was developed by Italian yacht designers Cassetta and designed to be bold, distinctive and contemporary, while maintaining Tankoa’s timeless aesthetic. She’s a sanctuary for relaxation and features a tranquil owner’s suite, five elegant guest cabins, a light-filled salon with panoramic views and a generous beach club and pool. In short, she’s got everything you need in less space.

100 SUNREEF POWER

Best for: Eco-conscious owners

yacht in monaco

For owners looking for an eco-friendly alternative, Sunreef Yachts has the answer with its line of electric catamarans. Exhibiting at the Monaco Yacht Show is the new 100 Sunreef Power, a luxury catamaran that’s designed to embody elegance, stability and safety. The yacht, which is powered by solar panels and features entirely customisable interiors, has a generous, light-filled main salon, a full-beam al fresco lounge and dining area, and a sunken lounge in the bow area. Owners can choose to outfit her with a spa pool and level out the aft platform to create a large beach club. With the 100 Sunreef Power, the world is your oyster.

Best for: Italian design

yacht in monaco

The Made in Italy moniker is personified in this striking, steel and aluminium superyacht from Italian shipyard Benetti. Featuring bespoke design by Rome-based design studio Giorgio M. Cassetta, the 67 m CALEX was entirely customised for her current owner, who took delivery in 2022. The attention to detail is inspiring and she features indoor and outdoor spaces that ensure absolute privacy and comfort, while catering to the owner’s passion for exercise and well-being—take special note of the state-of-the-art spa and fitness areas and the luxurious beach club. She’s built as an expedition yacht with an impressive range, meaning she’s perfect for taking far-flung adventures in style. She’s also wheelchair accessible and sleeps 12. Like what you see? CALEX is available to charter with Northrop & Johnson from around €624,000 per week.

The Must-Visit Spots in Monte Carlo During the Monaco Yacht Show

A highlight of monaco’s social calendar, the principality turns into a playground for the yachting and design world during the glitzy, four-day event kicking off september 25.

The Monaco Yacht Show is the principality’s glamorous unofficial season closer. Superyachts cruising the Mediterranean throughout the summer make their way back from Croatia or Porto Cervo, Sardinia, and dot the French Riviera coastline like a constellation of stars while a steady stream of helicopters whir overhead.

During the September 25 through 28 event, 120-plus boats from elite builders and brokers will be on display in Port Hercule. A who’s who representing shipyards, designers, brokerage houses, and owners flock to the principality to see the best superyachts in the world and latest designs. Not to be missed is this year’s most expensive superyacht bearing a $327 million price tag. “Monaco Yacht Show is one of the biggest events in Monaco’s social calendar, perhaps second only to the Grand Prix weekend,” says Sara Gioanola, PR and press office manager of Heesen Yachts .

Below, an insider’s guide to the top places to dine, drink, dance, and, eventually, call it a night, during the Monaco Yacht Show.

L’Abysse Monte Carlo

This summer, gastronomic great Yannick Alléno and renowned sushi master Yasunari Okazaki transported their sushi counter concept L’Abysse Monte-Carlo to Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo , where it neighbors Michelin-starred Pavyllon Monte-Carlo, a restaurant by Yannick Alléno . Working with the four elements (fire, earth, water, and air) and seasonal ingredients from around Monaco and the Mediterranean, the duo crafted a menu of haute Japanese cuisine that unfolds around a 10-seat sushi counter. “In Paris, we learned to work together, using our respective expertise to create a unique experience and earn two Michelin stars,” Okazaki tells Galerie . “In Monaco, the idea is not to duplicate the concept, but to create an entirely new menu inspired by the local terroir.”

Working together with Paris architecture and design studio RoWin’ Atelier , Galerie Scene Ouverte’s founder, Laurence Bonnel, wanted to translate the restaurant’s concept—a powerful yet delicate blend of French cuisine and Japanese culinary traditions—into the décor. A centerpiece indigo carpet inspired by the dye produced on the Japanese island of Shikoku sprawls across the bright, light-drenched space, illuminated by artist Célia Bertrand’s duo of 6.5-foot-long raw porcelain white gold light fixtures. William Coggins’ large-scale, white ceramic Coral Wall installations, which resemble sand dunes and coral lining the ocean floor, are pieced together like tile on one wall, while four of French artist Caroline Désile’s Japanese-inspired sculptures from her Série Origami collection sit opposite, playing on the theme of light and shadow.

The first international outpost of the Dubai-based haute Greek concept couldn’t be in a better location, unfolding on the edge of Monte Carlo’s Casino Square. A twist on a classic taverna, GAIA Monte-Carlo feels like it was plucked from one of the Greek islands. In Monaco, GAIA’s intimate rooms and covered terrace have become a local favorite just as much for people-watching as staples like honey-drizzled grilled feta and black truffle-infused tiropita, or phyllo cheese pie.

Part deux of the concept debuted this year when private members’ club NYX Monte-Carlo opened around the corner. The intimate venue exudes boudoir, Parisian vibes (plush red velvet couches, tasseled table lamps) with the glitz you’d expect from Monaco thanks to statement pieces like a bronze Nicola Rosini Di Santi sculpture—plus DJs (and big-name producers) spinning a curated selection of house and afro beats late into the evening.

Amazónico Monte Carlo

After a nearly two-year, $61 million renovation, legendary Café de Paris , the 150-year-old brasserie sitting across from the Belle Époque Casino de Monte-Carlo, reopened its doors in the fall. This spring, it welcomed the finishing touch—the lively Latin American-inspired restaurant and club Amazónico . The Amazon rainforest is the central thread for everything, from the tropical-style décor dreamt up by Lázaro Rosa-Violán to petiscos (small plates) like Peruvian corn bread with lobster and caviar and wagyu beef and black truffle cream empanadas. Take a seat on the rooftop terrace at sunset for one of the best views over Casino Square while live bands serenade in the background with jazz, bossa nova, and Cuban beats.

Les Ambassadeurs by Christophe Cussac

Within nine months of opening at Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo in the Jacques Garcia-designed space formerly helmed by Joël Robuchon, Les Ambassadeurs by Christophe Cussac was awarded two Michelin stars. Cooking his way from Burgundy to Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Monaco in the Côte d’Azur, the namesake chef has spent nearly the past three decades perfecting his Riviera-influenced cuisine. “I learned and got inspired by the sauces, fish, olive oil—everything particular to Mediterranean cuisine, since it’s very different here than what you’ll find in Burgundy,” he explains.

Anchored by an open kitchen, the elegant ivory- and gold-toned space reflects the chef’s refined, lighter fare—which can be savored in the form a 13-course, tasting menu. Tables are dressed with eye-catching, sculptural amber handblown glass plates by Jeremy Maxwell Wintrebert, which beautifully complement dishes like the gold leaf-topped seam bream tartare and caviar cannelloni.

Where to Stay for the Ultimate Monaco Experience

yacht in monaco

The infinity pool at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo’s Prince Rainier III Suite. Photo : Courtesy of Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo/The Leading Hotels of the World

Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo

The grande dame Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo , a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, and neighboring casino helped position the principality as the luxury destination it is today. While it’s in good company with a few other five-star spots within walking distance, the Hôtel de Paris is arguably the most glamorous to post up in—especially during an event like the Monaco Yacht Show.

When the 209-room hotel reopened six years ago after a full, $280 million renovation, its fresh face proved exactly what Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer founder François Blanc hoped to achieve when it was built 160 years ago— “a hotel that surpasses everything created up to now.” With the addition of the two-bedroom, 5,651-square-foot Prince Rainier III Suite , the largest in the hotel, that goal is certainly achieved, especially when you glance out at the glittering casino and parade of luxury cars from the terrace’s heated infinity pool.

123m Lürssen superyacht Golden Odyssey joins market for Monaco Yacht Show

The 123.2-metre Lürssen superyacht Golden Odyssey is newly listed for sale at the Monaco Yacht Show with Burgess and Edmiston .

Designed by Martin Francis and built of steel and aluminium by Lürssen, her vast interior was designed by the late Alberto Pinto . Francis kept her exterior proportions elegant despite the massive 7,600GT of volume.

Golden Odyssey accommodates a party of up to 30 guests across 15 cabins, served by a crew and staff of up to 70. Her beam is 20 metres. A private owner's deck is a particular highlight and includes two master suites, a spa, wellness area with steam room, Hammam, treatment room and a private terrace with Jacuzzi.

Stepping on board, guests can expect two grand, sweeping staircases aft which lead to the main deck, where a spacious beach club platform awaits. The upper deck serves as a "relaxation hub" with its large pool and numerous loungers. Meanwhile, up top, the sun deck offers lounging spaces, al fresco dining and a fully equipped gym.

Powered by twin MTU diesel-electric engines and four V16 MTUs, Golden Odyssey cruises comfortably at 15 knots, with a top speed of 20 knots and a range of 9,000 nautical miles.

According to BOATPro data, the yacht for sale was previously sold in October 2022 at a price of €150,000,000 and she underwent refit works, most recently in 2023.

On display at Monaco Yacht Show, Golden Odyssey's price is upon application.

Trideck External View 16 1_Mid Res

From September 25 to 28, Azimut returns to Monte Carlo for the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show. On display there will be the Magellano 30M alongside two models from the Grande Series: the Grande 36M and the Grande Trideck .

To offer a personalized service to Grande Series owners in Montecarlo, Azimut also announces the opening of a Grande Boutique.

On the occasion of the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show, the event dedicated to superyachts scheduled from September 25 to 28, Azimut will showcase three models from its fleet: the Magellano 30M, the Grande 36M, and the Grande Trideck.

As a testament to the success of the Grande Series among yacht owners and as part of its expansion strategy in the Principality of Monaco,  Azimut recently announced the opening of a Grande Boutique in Monaco , located at the Fairmont Hotel. This exclusive space is designed to offer tailored services to the owners of this Series, which includes yachts ranging from 26 to 44 meters, ensuring dedicated support at every stage, from purchase to after-sales service. Monaco, a hub of luxury and international yachting, is the perfect location to attract refined clients seeking unique and personalized experiences.

Grande Trideck

Opening Azimut’s lineup at the Monaco Yacht Show is the  Grande Trideck , the flagship of the Series, measuring 38 meters in length. The exterior lines are designed by Alberto Mancini, while the interiors are by Achille Salvagni and the hull by P.L. Ausonio Naval Architecture. One of the key factors in this model’s success is the innovative concept that has revolutionized the traditional layout, creating new spaces that did not exist before. The Sea View Terrace and the Private Patio were designed for a modern owner seeking constant connection with the surrounding environment. The Grande Trideck thus stems from the idea of the yacht as an ideal place for conviviality, offering an authentic atmosphere for sharing moments with family and friends. Other key elements contributing to the success of this model include the extensive use of carbon fiber, which is also used in the yacht’s superstructure, significantly reducing consumption, and the semi-planing D2P (Displacement to Planing) hull, which results from optimized shapes, leading to significant improvements in efficiency, reduced consumption, and better sea performance.

Azimut Grande 36M

Also on display at the Monaco Yacht Show is the  Grande 36M , a superyacht embodying the DNA of the Grande line with cutting-edge design choices that create barrier-free spaces and offer a unique sense of freedom. Thanks to the revolutionary semi-walkaround Upper Deck layout, which has created a new space on a yacht of this size, and the opening Skylounge windows, guests can enjoy an immersive cruising experience in perfect harmony with the surrounding environment. Designed to offer maximum customization, the interior design is by Achille Salvagni, while the exterior lines bear the unmistakable signature of Alberto Mancini.

The Grande Trideck and Grande 36M are part of Azimut’s Low Emission Yachts: thanks to the D2P® Displacement-to-Planing hull, designed by P.L. AUSONIO Naval Architecture with the Shipyard’s R&D department, and the extensive use of carbon fiber, they are capable of reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 30%, becoming the ideal choice for those seeking efficiency and greater environmental sustainability.

Magellano 30 M

Magellano 30M

Flagship of the Series designed for long cruises in unexplored places, the  Magellano 30M  reflects Azimut’s craftsmanship through a design that blends tradition and innovation. The exterior, designed by Ken Freivokh, combines a hull with powerful volumes and the lightness of a streamlined superstructure, a unique feature of this crossover yacht. Key elements include the vertical bow, robust sides, protected walkways, and large glass surfaces that flood the interiors, designed by Vincenzo De Cotiis, with natural light. Additionally, for the first time on a yacht of this size, the Main Deck offers a 270° panoramic view of the sea, the result of cutting-edge engineering developed by the Shipyard’s technical department, which designed a low ventilation system to eliminate any barriers to the view.

Azimut will be at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show from September 25 to 28 at stand QE7 (Quai des Etats-Unis).
