Great day fishing the flats. Caught Permit, Barracuda and huge Tarpon. Captain and boat were great and made for a great day!

• Sosua Party Boats

Sosua party boats bring together friends and family into one of the most entertaining activities at sea, sailing along the beautiful landscape of the North Dominican Republic regions inside Puerto Plata . The party boats depart from Sosua Bay, fully crewed with capacity for up to 40 people in most cases.

One of the largest party boats in Sosua, 62 feet long.

Among the fleet there are Viking yachts, Hatteras, Bertram; also the double hull catamarans such as Lagoon 52 and Privilege ; and larger yachts like the Ocean Yachts brand. The conversation for information before was not too good but the trip itself was amazing. There was a captain, some crew and photographer. They did exactly as we asked and cooked a delicious bbq meal for us. They had a full supply of water, beer, and snorkel equipment.

Experience overall is 7.5/10, i recommend before purchase IG to ask about the things they say come with the experience is available for you. There wasn’t any Pina Colada, no 8 year old rum, no white rum, but did have beer. Food wise the chicken and bread was very good but in listing shows you get so much more so in all just very inaccurate. What made this trip good, was the crew. They served us very well, had the music going, partying with us, the captain kept the boat moving and got us in a great area to take pictures. I would book again just would ask more questions before booking.

Don`t choose morning time unless you will skip late partying the night before…  Choosing the morning for parties only works when the entire party crew agrees to avoid late night partying, which will hardly happen.

Sailing party with females don`t always go well with fishing…  This because fishing takes place farther from the shores and most women ruin the trip due to seasickness. If you are into a party, keep it that way and sail along the coast where calmer waters will make everyone happy.

Dramamines are a must unless you`re a seasoned skipper…  Always take a dramamine at least one hour before boarding the yacht, it will make your life easier throughout the trip. Some yacht captains will have it in stock at the boats so ask for it. Even better, stop by the pharmacy and buy your own.

Hard liquor before the tour or just departing….  By all means avoid taking hard liquor before or during the first 30 minutes of the tour. It will make most people sick and cut the trip short quicker than expected. Not to mention that the dramamine will also lose its effect.

Eating heavy meals on a yacht…  although it might look casual in movies, having a lot of food while yachting is not recommended, thank God there`s bathrooms included. The stomach is no friend to the ocean swaying movements, that is the reason captains eat light meals and snacks. Some very large yachts are exempt from this rule, as most passengers can barely feel the ocean movement.

Safety should always be first…  When in a yacht, always have a free hand to grab railings in case of unbalancing due to sea movement. Be sure to look out for one another, specially those drinking alcohol. If you can`t swim, be sure to stay within view of those who can and if needed, use a life vest. The Sosua Catamaran Experience

The Sosua catamaran experience takes the visitor to a journey of hidden gems in the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, more than just a snorkeling charter. In our case, the customer leads the way and can select the best route according to some tips we provide here. If you notice the catamaran map below, it shows red dots pinpointing landmarks of the tour, where tropical reefs and secluded beaches are found.

Sosua is a popular tourist destination in the Dominican Republic, known for its beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and snorkeling and diving opportunities; yet it is possible best known to many tourists for its nautical activities, specially catamaran and yacht tours. Sosua catamaran cruises typically depart from Sosua Beach and take guests on a tour of the Sosua Bay.

Sosua Beach Reefs

Once guests board the skiff in Sosua Beach, they are taken to the catamaran, which can first stop by Cabezos , a beautiful reef that can be seen in the aerial photo below (#3).  The bay has some interesting spots for reef fish snorkeling, and a unique, large Taino Atabey zemi statue that began an underwater museum for free divers (16ft depth) and scuba divers.

Second best stop in the route for a superb catamaran charter experience is to sail to Puerto Chiquito ( El Tablon Beach ), jump into the water and climb into the “ Indian cave” for a great photo op. Above the cliff, and old, long forgotten hotel sits overlooking the small bay like a timeless sentinel.

Sosua Beach Marine Life

Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to snorkel in the clear waters of the bay, where you can see a variety of colorful fish and coral reefs. You may also spot turtles, sergeant major, squid, grunt, blue tang, dolphins, and other Sosua marine life .

Please do not touch the corals or feed the fish here. After snorkeling, you’ll have time to relax on the catamaran’s deck, soak up the sun, and enjoy some drinks from the cat bar. The catamaran also has a built-in barbecue, so you can enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner while you’re cruising.

Alicia Beach, the Next Stop

Right past Piergiorgio’s La Puntilla we find Alicia Beach (photo#9), a secluded stretch of beach that came out of nowhere about 18 years ago after a storm. This location is more suitable for divers due to the depth, but the beauty of it make it a great sightseeing experience for catamarans sailing by en route to other beaches; also for a truly relaxing beach day.

Casa Marina Beach

Sosua Three Rocks

Considered one of the top snorkel spots in Sosua, Three Rocks consists of 3 coral rock pinnacles lying at a depth of 9m (30 ft). It is located off the coast of Imbert Beach, another secluded beach where some charters stop and jump into shallow waters (4-5 feet). It is private property, so please stay by the shore if you do swim to it. Photo #10 shows one of the rocks, right by the Fountaine Pajot catamaran we charter.

The Ocean Club Marina

Right before reaching three rocks we find the Ocean Club Marina, which also has a helipad and a man-made jetty with beach. We often pick up clients staying at that exclusive hotel run by Marriott, which we recommend. The Bahia Lounge restaurant there is fantastic, they also include a spa and luxurious penthouses; it also includes an elegant swimming pool with ample deck and beautiful vistas.
