Bayview Yacht Club
Detroit’s Bayview Yacht Club is known as a place to sail and to watch regattas, but it’s also known for the creation of a sweet and creamy cocktail called the Hummer. Bartender Jerome Adams, who has helmed the bar for 50 years, created the mix of Kahlua, rum and ice cream on a whim one evening. Legend has it that, two drinks in, a patron remarked that it was so good it made people want to hum, and thus the Hummer was born.

Today our family spread ashes on the Detroit River for a Detroit Firefighter Retired Gary and his Dog Pewee. His best friend Jill was terribly seasick and my Husband Jeff parked at the Seaviews fuel dock and went inside to see if we could leave our friend there and drive and get her in an hour or so. Seaview is a private Yacht Club and we were asked if we knew any member. We explained the situation and we think maybe a manager took Jill into a room and she laid down on a couch. Even a nurse was asked to check on her at the club. Jill and our entire family Thankyou for your kindness! Your facility and staffs compassion was one of the kindest acts we’ve experienced. It’s true people on the water are always the best. In this crazy world we live in we wanted to thank everyone who helped our family during this time. True Americans!
Best club in the region for sailboat racers. Hosting many regattas including BOD and Port Huron Macinac race. Great Fall Alumni regatta on fleet of club owned U20s. Bar food is excellent as is the service. Beautiful riverfront view. Still remember many years ago Captaining Renegade a SC70 that berthed at BYC the end of summer. Squeezed her deep keel over the entrance sandbar. Deep harbor for Lake St. Clair. Hoists for dry sailing one design racers. Fantastic high calibre group of racers. Now if only we could get you guys out for the 50+ fleets of Laser Masters racing that is on a real comeback...pull out those hiking benches and bikes ( think thigh muscles) and Lasers hanging in your garages...

My nephew and his wife got married here. The ceremony was beautiful, and the scenery was gorgeous! You have to watch your phone service because some guests were connecting to towers in Canada. I didn't have any problem with my phone service. Beautiful place

Welcome to bayview yacht club, one of the most storied and historical sailing clubs in the nation. founded in 1915 in a small boathouse on motorboat lane, bayview moved to our current location at 100 clairpointe street in 1935. in june of 2021 bayview completed a state of the art 12,791 square foot, $5 million clubhouse featuring multiple restaurants, two bars, flexible banquet space, and a second story deck for outdoor dining. the clubhouse takes full advantage of the water’s edge location with panoramic views of belle isle, downtown detroit, and canada. our new clubhouse has been specifically designed as a first-class venue to promote daily camaraderie, the expansion of membership, and the sport of sailing. membership advantages.

Membership Application Process
Membership categories are based on sailing experience and age. if you are an experienced sailor, you may apply for membership in the class that is appropriate to your age. prospective members with limited or no sailing experience may apply as a supporting member starting at the age of 27. supporting membership carries all rights of active membership with the exception of voting, election to a board of governors position, and seasonal well rental while allowing the member to gain valuable sailing experience that will qualify them for active membership in the future. approval of membership requires endorsement by three current bayview members as well as two current board members. if you are not acquainted with any bayview members, not to worry - our membership committee will work with you to make introductions. bayview yacht club has a wonderful facility, an incredible membership and staff that encourage and foster interest in all aspects of sailing. if you would like to be a part of the tradition, and are ready to apply, please complete our byc prospective member sailing background questionnaire ., still have some questions contact us using the form below and someone from our membership team will follow up with you promptly..
