Ilot Gabriel is quite an exceptional place, less known than its neighbour, Flat Island. Ilot Gabriel is a gem thrown on the open sea extending over an area a little more than 42 hectares. It is situated about 20 kilometres from the north coast of the island.

It can easily be reached by boat or catamaran either from Grand Bay or Pereybere. The trip lasts about three or four hours, the visitor stays for about 5 hours on the islet and the return takes another four hours. The journey depends on the weather and the conditions of the sea. Ilot Gabriel cruise

Gabriel Island: known also as Îlot Gabriel, is located near the Round Island and the Flat island, at the extreme north of Mauritius, about 10 kilometers north of Cap Malheureux. The distance between Gabriel Island and Flat island is only 750 meters. The size of the island is only 42 hectares, making it much smaller than Flat island, and the highest point is of 28 meters. Gabriel Island is a protected natural reserve. In comparison to Flat Island, Gabriel Island has less Flora and vegetation. 2 Embark the Catamaran and set sail to Gabriel Island

You will be invited to embark our catamaran departing at Grand Baie. Our team will brief you a security briefing and at 09:00 we'll set sail to Gabriel Island. The navigation time is roughly 1.5 hours.

3 Enjoy the scenic view of the ocean and coast line

As we navigate to the island of Gabriel, you'll be blessed with the scenic ocean and cost line view. There are several outlying islands like the Coin de Mire. If you're lucky enough, you'll be able to catch glimpse of whales or even dolphins.

4 Arrive at Gabriel Island

You will then arrive at Gabriel island. This little island a protected natural reserve that has kilometers of beaches protected from mass tourists. You'll be at your own leisure and can use this time to just sit back and relax or get into the warm crystal clear water.

• time: 10:30 - 12:30

5 Savor a BBQ lunch with unlimited drinks

You will be then invited to join the catamaran again where a delicious BBQ lunch (fish, chicken, sausages) with green salads will be served. Complimentary and unlimited drinks (inlcuding both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be served.

6 Set sail back to Grand Bay

We will then set sail back to Grand Baie. The boat will make several stops so that you can snorkel. Once again, you'll get the enjoy the seascape including several outlying islands in the North of Mauritius.

7 Arrive at Grand Bay with your driver waiting

Your arrival at Grand Baie is expected at around 16:00 - 16:30. If you opted for the transfer option, your driver will be right at the deembarkation point ready to pick you up and drive you back to your accommodation.

After I booked the communication was very fast and accurate. The driver was very timely in picking us up in the morning and drove us to Grand Bay. The cruise itself was more than we expected - I like how friendly and decent the boat crew was. What I also liked is the total liberty and privacy they give you once on the island - you are basically free to do whatever you want at your own pace.

The catamaran cruise starts at 09:00, departing from Grand Bay.

The crew members will make sure to make your time more enjoyable, and they will be happy to tell you about local tales, jokes, and to play local Mauritian music which will lift the spirits of all the people on board.

The sailing time is around 1.5 hours before reaching Gabriel Island . The island is most famous for its beautiful unspoiled beaches, with crystal clear water surrounding the entire island.

At around 12.30 you will enjoy a full delicious BBQ lunch on the catamaran. Please note that the menu includes only fresh fish, fresh chicken and a selection of fresh salads . If you are a vegetarian, please advise us before, so we can arrange the necessary additions to the lunch.

As part of the cruise you will pass by an amazing lagoon, where swimming and snorkeling are a must.

Sometimes during this excursion you will be able to see whales as well as dolphins. If this happens, the crew will stop the boat, in order for you to observe these great animals from close in their natural environment.

Of course you can choose to stay on the beautiful white sand beaches, enjoy a sun bath or a nice walk on the Island. This amazing paradise island is the perfect setting for a relaxing day of sun worship.

This is no doubt a great place to enjoy a day of relaxation and fun on one of the picture-postcard beaches or enjoy swimming and snorkeling in the sea.

At around 15:00, you will leave Gabriel Island, heading back to Grand Bay. During the sail back you can enjoy light snacks, the bar services and the live music. Expected arrival time back to Grand Bay is 16:00.

An added bonus for this excursion is that you can enjoy a selection of drinks including alcoholic (beer, rum, cocktails…) and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the day.

Gabriel Island

Known also as Îlot Gabriel, located near Round Island and the Flat island, at the extreme north of Mauritius, about 10 kilometers north of Cap Malheureux. The distance between Gabriel Island and Flat island is only 750 meters. The size of the island is only 42 hectares, making it much smaller than Flat island, and the highest point is 28 meters.

Gabriel island is a protected natural reserve. In comparison to Flat Island, Gabriel Island has less Flora and vegetation. The island is most famous for its beautiful unspoiled beaches, with crystal clear water surrounding the entire island. It is a very popular site for snorkelers, and also offers great dive sites.

Enjoyed the trip despite some rough seas.

Although the trip to Ilot Gabriel was in some rough seas, the crew with their expertise and skills made it enjoyable for us all. We had a ball!
