Flying P-Liner PEKING – Restoration Completed

Peking, one of the famous “flying p liners” of f. laeisz lines, has been restored and will be delivered to the hamburg historical museum foundation..

wewelsfleth yachthafen

The 1911 Peking is a steel-hulled four-masted barque. The Flying P-Liner of the German company F. Laeisz, was one of the last generation of cargo-carrying iron-hulled sailing ships used in the nitrate and wheat trade around Cape Horn.

The PEKING will be moved from Peters Werft, Wewelsfleth to Hamburg on September 7th, 2020. Peters Werft and the Hamburg Maritim Foundation have made the preparations for the towing in coordination with the responsible authorities:

  • ARGE Ingenieurbüro Löll
  • TECHNOLOG Services GmbH (marine consulting and engineering firm)
  • GEORG ALBINUS Boatbuilding & Rigging.
  • Shipbuilding engineer Marijke de Jong.
  • The Hamburg Historical Museum Foundation, the new owner of PEKING and other partners.

The previously announced big celebration and ship parade has been cancelled due to the current situation around the Covid-19 pandemic and the associated regulations. Therefore, the premises of the Hamburg Maritime Foundation will also be closed to the public on September 7th, 2020 for security reasons.
