  1. C&C 29

A boat with a BN of 1.6 or greater is a boat that will be reefed often in offshore cruising. Derek Harvey, "Multihulls for Cruising and Racing", International Marine, Camden, Maine, 1991, states that a BN of 1 is generally accepted as the dividing line between so-called slow and fast multihulls.

The original 29, introduced in 1976, was 29′ 7″ overall. The new boat, launched in 1983, was over a foot shorter. This wasn't the result of a chopped transom or a plugged mold: The MK II version was narrower (by 11″), lighter (by 800 lbs.) and carried considerably less sail.

  6. Review of C&C 29 Mk II

The C&C 29 Mk II is equipped with a fin keel. A boat with a fin keel is more manoeuvrable but has less directional stability than a similar boat with a full keel. The keel is made of lead. Compared with iron, lead has the advantage of being 44% heavier, which allows a smaller keel and hence less water resistance and higher speed.
