Bilgin’s New Yacht Elada Has Vastly Different Interior and Exterior Styling, and Both Are Stunning

Bilgin’s Elada , a 147-foot triple-deck motor yacht with a reverse bow and blue accents, is another one-of-a-kind design from the Turkish custom shipyard. The London-based H2 Yacht Design created both the exterior and interior, giving them radically different styling. The sleek, futuristic exterior would make a great backdrop for a sci-fi movie, while the rich wood and marble of the interior contribute to a more classic—indeed, a fairly conservative—design.

The reverse bow is shaped like an eagle’s beak, turned down at the point. Moving aft, the hull has very clean lines. Raised bulwarks along the side decks and a long superstructure give the profile an integrated, lean look, especially considering that the boat has three decks.

H2 designed Elada to be more than just a pretty face, however. A folding door at the transom turns the swim platform into a beach club, while expansive glass doors between the bridge deck and the sky lounge—which has an outdoor dining table for 12—transform the area into an open terrace. Matching hot tubs—one on the bridge deck and the other on the sundeck—are perfect hubs for socializing with guests or for more intimate interactions. To give the yacht a signature touch, the owner requested large swaths of blue painted across the stern and foredeck and on the bridge.

The boat’s interior is dark and rich, with high-gloss veneers and woods—including wenge , burl walnut, zebrano, and palisander—as well as warm leathers and fabrics and cool marble floors. The full-beam owner’s suite on the bridge deck includes a large bedroom, a palatial bathroom with onyx detailing, and an office with its own skylight. A VIP cabin is located on the main deck, while the lower deck houses four double guest suites equipped with en suite bathrooms. The hand-finished wood detailing, often ribbed and scalloped, makes the interior an exceptional piece of artisanship.

Besides its striking looks, Elada is also a performer, able to reach a top speed of 19 knots; its cruising speed is 15 knots. When traveling at the eco-cruise speed of 12 knots, it has a range of 2,600 miles. ( bilginyacht.com )

Elada is a 45-meter semi-displacement yacht built by Turkish shipyard Bilgin Yachts, with interior and exterior design by H2 Yacht Design. Ordered back in 2012 and launched earlier this year, her distinguishing feature is the unusual reserve bow.

The eye-catching vessel is not only remarkable due to her exterior lines, but also thanks to her light blue elements, which give her a very cool and elegant look. Other prominent features include the folding transom door with access to a large beach club and the ample amount of space offered, making the exterior a perfect spot for sunbathing and relaxation.

Elada ’s interiors are just as welcoming: a blend of classic and modern, with more of an emphasis of the traditional. Luxurious details and high-end materials (pelisandro, beli, madrano burl, imbuya pomela, ebony macassar, wenge, backlit honey onyx, and backlit wild agate) create a warm and comfortable space guests will feel right at home in. Speaking of guests, six well-appointed cabins serve as accommodations for up to 12 people.

Delivered, as we’ve mentioned above, earlier this year, Elada is currently used privately, with no current plans to make here available for charter. She is currently cruising around Europe and the Mediterranean.

Elada is a custom motor yacht launched in 2007 by Bilgin Yachts, in Turkey and most recently refitted in 2010.

Elada measures 31.50 feet in length, with a max draft of 1.40 feet and a beam of 6.80 feet. She has a gross tonnage of 135 tonnes. She has a deck material of teak.

Elada has a wood/GRP hull with a wood/GRP superstructure.

Her interior design is by Eric Breda.

Elada also features naval architecture by Cizgi Yat.

Elada has a fuel capacity of 11,000 litres, and a water capacity of 2,500 litres.

Superyacht of the week: The H2 designed Bilgin Elada

The 45 metre semi-displacement superyacht,  Elada , was built by the Turkish shipyard, Bilgin Yachts. After signing the contract for the vessel in 2012, she was launched earlier this year and is a development of the 40 metre superyacht  M , which was launched, also by Bilgin, in 2012. She features both interior and exterior designs by H2 Yacht Design, and is easily recognisable for her unusual reverse bow.

When designing  Elada , though it was the reverse bow concept and strong, simple lines of  M  that drew the owner to the design, the design evolved in several ways. Firstly, the vessel has been lengthened by 5 metres in total, and a softer superstructure was developed to give a subtly different, but very unique exterior. Though the design is perhaps unusual, Bilgin Yachts assures that the performance, reliability or any other integral factors are not compromised in any way. The deck spaces are substantial, the interior volume is extremely high and the windows flood the interior with light. She is built out of wood, like a lot of Bilgin yachts, which Yildirim Bilgen of Bilgin Yachts commented is a,  “construction method that is as strong as GRP construction.”

As part of this development, H2 Yacht Design also introduced the blue painted highlights across the superstructure to give a very personalised look, and certainly one that would stand out from the crowd. The blue was especially selected by the owner and reflects the individuality of both the yacht and the owner themselves.

Some of the main features of the exterior are include the folding transom door with access to a large beach club and generous amounts of space perfect for sun lounging and relaxation. Connecting the bridge deck to the sky lounge is an exterior dining table that easily seats up to 12, making al fresco dining easy, convenient and extremely enjoyable.

Elada ’s exterior spaces provide ample room for sun lounging, relaxation and entertainment. Her high bulwarks wrapping round the front deck protect a large seating area and also work to protect one of the two Jacuzzi’s on board, one located on the bridge deck forward, the other located on the sundeck forward and including wraparound bar seating and lounging space aft. Both of the Jacuzzi’s are spacious and come with a glass front.

The brief for the interior was to reflect a blend of classic and modern styling with an emphasis on the use of quality, high glossed veneers to achieve this finish. The contrast to the exterior is vast, and can be a bit of a shock at first. However, despite the innovative and unique exterior design, Johnnie Horsfield of H2 Yacht Design comments that,  “the owner had very particular requirements that the interior should be timeless and quite traditional. This resulted in fine detailing throughout the yacht that can be appreciated in every cabin and public space.”

A recurring theme of a hand finished ribbed and scalloped wood detailing repeats throughout the yacht and is highlighted with decorative and indirect lighting in all areas. Materials used throughout the interiors include pelisandro, beli, madrano burl, imbuya pomela, ebony macassar, wenge, backlit honey onyx and backlit wild agate – to name but a few.

Elada  accommodates up to 12 guests over 6 luxurious cabins, including four double/twin guest en suite cabins on the lower deck, as well as a VIP cabin located forward on the main deck which includes a private VIP lounge. The ultimate in private luxury, however, has been reserved for the owners suite. Located on the bridge deck, the commodious area opens onto a large private aft terrace, guaranteeing the utmost exclusivity. The owners suite also comes with a sophisticated office complete with skylight, and beautiful backlit onyx detailing to the bathroom.

Several of her interior features include the formal main saloon & dining area with temperature controlled wine fridges, as well as the indoor/outdoor sky lounge with large skylight. Conveniently, the sky lounge converts to a second owners cabin with king size bed, private office and bathroom.

In regards to her performance, she is powered by 2x CAT C32 1900bhp 2300 rpm Marine Diesel Engines, providing her with a maximum speed of 18 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots. At an eco speed of 12 knots, she has a range of 2600 miles, at 15 knots she has a range of 1250 miles, and at maximum speed she has a total range of 700 miles.

Delivered to her happy owner earlier this year, she will be used privately and is not currently being considered for charter business. She is intended for use for coastal and offshore cruising around Europe and the Mediterranean.

Bilgin 147 luxury yacht ELADA provides deluxe accommodation divided into 6 magnificent cabins. These include one master cabin, one VIP cabin and four guest cabins. There is also space for a crew of 6 members.

CAT C 32 1915 diesel engines give super yacht ELADA a maximum speed of 22 knots and a cruising speed of 17 knots. She has a beam of 8,90 meters.

CCN M/Y VANADIS: the perfect blend of timeless style and a hi-tech soul

Pencilled by Guido De Groot, M/Y Vanadis is the fourth yacht in CCN’s Fuoriserie family. This 31 m fully-custom aluminium craft stands out in the luxury yachts arena for being the first Italian-built yacht to obtain the Lloyd’s Register’s “Hybrid Power” certification.

The Vanadis reveals two harmoniously entwined souls: on the one hand, she can boast a cutting-edge technological concept, reflecting the latest achievements in environmental friendliness and efficiency; on the other, her timeless, classical and elegant style goes beyond current design trends.

“Both the exterior and the interior layouts – explains designer Guido De Groot – have been fully customised to the Owner’s needs and wishes, resulting in a highly functional, comfortable, stylish and sophisticated design”.

The interior layout features the master stateroom and 2 guest cabins on the lower deck and a spacious salon with an L-shaped sofa, the dining area and the open galley in the indoor areas of the main deck, behind the wheelhouse. The atmosphere is that of a modern interpretation of “Jugendstil Interior”, the German branch of Art Nouveau, with an extensive use of bleached ash and walnut.

The interiors are very bright, thanks to the large glazed surfaces letting in plenty of natural light, a well-balanced arrangement of space, and light colour shades and furniture that make every area airy and cosy. The sober style of interiors goes hand in hand with custom-made furniture and furnishings, selected together with the Owner, by Wittmann, Poltrona Frau, Giorgetti, Knoll and JAB.

Outside, on the main deck, two comfy lounge areas can be found both astern and at the bow. A second steering station is located on the flybridge, which is entirely devoted to outdoor life, with sun loungers, a bar area, and a dining area, while the aft swimming platform hosts a 5.5 m tender.

An interesting challenge faced during the construction stage was defining the layout of the engine room. Thanks to the hybrid configuration and to the compact shape of the vessel (31 m -102’), the main engine compartment has been installed at the stern, the genset compartment at the bow. Taking advantage of the slender bow and of the shallow stern to accommodate machinery, space allocation below deck has been optimised, leaving more space and volumes available for the yacht’s guests and crew.

1,000 rounds of ammunition and fireworks were onboard yacht that burned in Marina del Rey: Owner

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. (KABC) -- The owner of a luxury yacht that erupted in flames and sank in Marina del Rey said 1,000 rounds of "unspent ammunition and fireworks" were onboard the vessel, according to fire officials.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department provided an update on the incident in a social media post Thursday morning.

The fire was reported shortly after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at 211 Basin A, where flames engulfed the multi-level, 100-foot boat, the agency said.

Residents in the area said they heard multiple explosions resonating throughout the harbor as yacht was consumed by flames. Fire officials said two people were able to get off the boat uninjured.

Fire crews poured water onto the burning vessel, which later sank into the harbor.

An environmental hazard team was expected to arrive in Marina del Rey Thursday to assist with the cleanup of the burned vessel.

A United States Coast Guard Incident Management Team from Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach is monitoring the cleanup efforts, according to the Coast Guard, which said that the yacht "caught fire and discharged red-dye diesel."

"The fire did not appear to damage any other vessels in the harbor," the USCG said in a statement Thursday. "The Coast Guard is working with Patriot Environmental Services and Clean Harbors organizations to contain and recover the discharge from the yacht."

The yacht's fuel capacity was reported to be 6,000 gallons, according to the Coast Guard. Crews from California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Office of Spill Prevention and Response and the L.A. County Sheriff's Department are also assisting in the efforts.

The Oiled Wildlife Care Network was also notified and was on standby for wildlife response. "No observations of oiled wildlife have been reported at this time," the Coast Guard said Thursday morning. "For your safety and the safety of the animals, do not attempt to capture oiled animals." Witnesses were urged to report oiled wildlife to (877) 823-6926.

‘Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed was a monster and worse than Jimmy Savile’

Lawyers representing women who claim to have been sexually assaulted by former Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed have described the case as containing "some of the most horrific elements" of those including Jimmy Savile , Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein .

More than 20 women have accused Al Fayed of sexual assault , including rape.

No charges were brought against Al Fayed, who died in 2023.

Issuing an apology, Harrods’ current owners said they are appalled by the allegations of abuse perpetrated by Al Fayed and say that during this time they “failed employees who were his victims”.

They added: “While we cannot undo the past, we have been determined to do the right thing as an organisation.”
