Beautiful marina located right on the bay. Recently bought by Safe Harbor marinas, a national operator of over 100 marinas. They are pouring massive amounts of money into making this a world class marina. New boat lift. New floating docks. New club house. Renovated beach.
Spring cleaning!
Beautiful location but marina is run down. Two sisters own it but don't put money into it. They just collect the $$$.
Came here as a guest with my grandparents and decided to check out the pool. I am a former life guard of 8 years and like to know if my grandparents are in good hands so I wanted to know a few main things 1) How many lifeguards they're are? 2) Is there proficient medical equipment on sight incase of an emergency? 3) How is the facility being overseen? As I entered the pool, showed my passes, and signed me and my grandparents in, I notice the scale of pool and baby pool. This seemed way too much for a single lifeguard to handle, not to mention the amount of patrons that are allowed in. There is no patron cap, a patron cap is a common practice at pools to keep a safe environment. I looked around for an hour for a chance there is a second lifeguard, nope just one guard that was allowed 10 mins an hour to recover. How does one person operate a backboard alone? Trick question you cannot! This specific pool needs at least three lifeguards. One to perform a rescue, one to grab a backboard, AED, and first aid supplies, and one to call 911 and create a safe scene for EMTs to arrive and communicate with. Every pool I ever worked at had a team that kept guards ready to surveille, rescue, and protect patrons. This seems unsafe. I go up to the lifeguard to ask if they have proper medical equipment. My first question is about the AED (Automated External Defibrillator), because my grandfather has had heart complications in the past. I ask " Where is your AED?" the life guard responded "There should be one on deck with easy access, but for some reason they keep it in the kitchen of the club house, so if an emergency happened I would need someone to run and get it for me." That is one hundred percent not proper procedure and will be the death of someone. I decide to swim some to calm down, before contacting management or OSHA. I go inside the club house at 2pm during a weekday, and complete ghost town. Unacceptable. I dive further by asking the lifeguard " Hey, do you know when the manager will be in?" the life guard responds "I work for a different company, the pool company and beach club are two different companies that hire the pool company for life guards. I can give you my bosses contact, but they have no control over the facility just where I go. I have no clue who works for the beach club or any information about memberships." I am now running a hypothetical situation in my head, lets say my grandfather has a cardiac emergency in the water. The lifeguard would activate an EAP (Emergency Action Plan), tell a random patron (If there was one) to grab the backboard, tell a different patron (If there was one) to grab the AED from inside the club house after searching through the kitchen, and another patron (If there was one to call 911). As the sole lifeguard would perform a passive water rescue on my grandfather and pray a patron would be coming with a backboard and be strong enough to help extricate the victim. Then as the sole lifeguard would begin CPR, and then guide untrained patrons (If there were any) on how to aid in setting up the AED while performing CPR and while aiding the 911 dispatcher on location of the emergency. Lifeguards may have better training than the regular patron, but they are not superman and cannot be in multiple places at once. The beach club management would be none the wiser until after the emergency..... This is why I bought my grandparents life alerts, please do better.
Beautiful marina on Chesapeake Bay. Conveniently located near the town of Cape St Clair, just before the Bay Bridge. Pool with lifeguards, clubhouse and tennis courts. Wet slips and dry storage with a beach. Very well managed, a great place for families and fun, I've been coming here for 20+ years and can't say enough good things about Podickery Point!

I had a very unfortunate experience with the manager, Charlie, and when I called to ask to speak to the owners or for there contact information or his superior he refused! Would not recommend unless under new management! Please contact me if anyone has information of owners contact information!
Although not a luxury establishment, Podickory is unpretentious and well-run, with a small, friendly (and busy) staff. I use the dry stack, which presents some trade-offs to trailering or wet slip, but it's the best mix for me and it seems as well executed as it can be at Podickory. Access is directly on the bay, so hard to duck into a river straightaway if it's snotty out. The pool is a nice bonus, as are the picnic grounds, which helps justify the expense if the whole family isn't equally boat-oriented. The clubhouse is popular for catered events, and it's a nice place to chill out for a while of there's not an event on, but there's no operating bar or restaurant. There's also no boat service on site, but there are excellent vendors that serve the marina for boat service. The "beach" is tiny, but technically, there is one. I've enjoyed my two seasons there, and look forward to many more.
