After previously dealing with an unresponsive host for another listing, Edward & Team made the experience a 10/10 for us with how promptly they were able to accommodate and communicate. We all know the weather in Chicago changes all the time and 5 days before a sunny day could be all rain. The cancel policy is 5 days since weather dot com usually does a good job letting you know what to expect. If you need to cancel day of, we will make an exception and do a 50% refund back regardless of the reason or reschedule to another date.

Please keep the following information in mind when making your reservation.

WHEN AND WHERE?

We charter 3 times per day leaving from Belmont Harbor: 10am - 2pm 2:45pm – 6:45pm 7:30pm – 11:30 pm

>>>Start as low as $250 per hour on weekdays with a 4 hour minimum per session. >>>All our Yachts are subject to a $750 Security Deposit which will be refunded following business day if no claims are made. >>>Cancellation Policy: 15 Business days prior the reservation date: Full refund (subject to 5% service fee). 14 Days or fewer - no refund.

Not included in the price, however we will provide you with the pre-approved Captain list to choose from and hire.

Not included in the price and it is $200 for 4-hour session. This fee is collected by the owner upon your booking via QuickPay/Zelle.

To ensure everyone's safety, the Captain has the authority to deem whether weather conditions are charterable or not. In the event conditions are deemed uncharterable, we will issue a rescheduling credit to the Charterer on a charter of equal or lesser value, based on availability. All rescheduling credits must be used the same season the original booking was made. 

US Coast Guard regulations

Please note, per US Coast Guard regulations, the Bareboat maximum capacity for rental is 13 passengers plus Captain and we will be able to accommodate only 13 people plus Captain. If you have more than 13 people in your group, we can add another yacht for you.

• When are the boats available for private parties?
• All of our boats are available to be rented for private events in the evenings (start times vary based on the boat and the day of the week). Additionally, Chicago's First Lady is available during the daytime Monday through Thursday for events concluding by 3 p.m. Chicago's Fair Lady is available Monday - Thursday mornings for breakfast events ending by 11a.
• Will we be the only party onboard?
• Yes, all of our boats are exclusive-use. You will be the only party onboard, and you won't share the boat with any other parties or events.
• How many boats do you have and how many guests can each boat accommodate?
• We have six yachts of varying sizes for you to choose from accommodating 2 - 250 guests. View our fleet options for corporate/social events and wedding events. Please note, the same boats are available for social events, corporate events, and weddings; however, we recommend having a reduced maximum guest count for weddings due to the extra components that often accompany weddings (cake table, gift table, etc.).
• Do I have to use one of your catering partners?
• Yes, catering is required and does have to come from one of our catering partners. Catering is a separate contract, so you would reach out to our catering partners directly for pricing and to book your catering package.
• What are the entertainment options?
• We offer complimentary use of the boat sound system with Sirius XM Radio or an auxiliary hookup for phone/mp3 player; or, you are welcome to hire a band or DJ. Other entertainment ideas include renting a photobooth or casino games or hiring a CAC docent or Skyline Commentator tour guide for a portion of your cruise time. Additionally, the City of Chicago puts on a firework display over Lake Michigan on summer Wednesdays and Saturdays.
• Can we have narrated content during our private cruise?

Yes. One of our tour guides can provide our "Skyline Commentary" ($200) at any point during your tour (90 minutes or less; whatever length you prefer). Or we can arrange a Chicago Architecture Center Docent ($500 payable to CAC) to provide a 90 minute architecture river tour at the start of your charter. This is a great option for groups who are focused on architecture or learning more about Chicago!

• What happens if it rains?
• All of our boats have two levels – the upper deck is an open-air deck, and the lower deck is an enclosed, climate-controlled salon. Each salon is surrounded by large windows so you can stay dry and still take in the spectacular views. Vessels cruise rain or shine safely guided by our U.S. Coast Guard-trained captains and crew.
• How late can we cruise?
• You can cruise as late as midnight on any night of the week. If you are interested in an event ending after midnight, please give us a call at (847) 358-1330 to discuss.
• When are the fireworks displays over Lake Michigan?
• The City of Chicago puts on a firework display over Lake Michigan on Wednesdays (9:30 p.m.) and Saturdays (10:15 p.m.) from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The fireworks last about 15 – 20 minutes and are a fabulous bonus for those cruising with us on Wednesday and Saturday evenings! If you’d like to catch the entire show from the lake (which is the best spot for viewing the fireworks), you need to cruise until at least 10:15 pm on Wednesday evenings and at least 11 pm on Saturday evenings.
• Do you charge extra on holiday weekends?
• No, we do not charge extra on holiday weekends.
• Where is your dock located?

Our dock is located at the northeast corner of N. Michigan Avenue and E. Wacker Drive along the Chicago Riverwalk. For GPS purposes, use 112 E. Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL 60601. Please note, we are on the Riverwalk, two levels down from street-level. Visit our location page for more details including accessible drop-off information.

A bareboat charter, as defined by the United States Coast Guard (USCG), is an arrangement granting the Charterer (the individual renting the yacht) temporary ownership and use of a vessel for a specified duration. Under this agreement, the Charterer assumes responsibility for the vessel, their guests, hiring their own Crew, and providing their own food and beverages.

It is important to note that the Charterer may either operate the vessel themselves if they possess the required credentials or choose to hire their own Captain and Crew.

However, it is crucial to adhere to the maximum passenger limit of 12 individuals for a bareboat chartered vessel.

For bareboat charters, the maximum capacity is 12 passengers, excluding the Captain and Crew.

The hired Captain and Crew are not counted as passengers. So, to clarify, the Charterer can bring a maximum of 11 guests.

Please keep in mind that infants and children are included in the total capacity count. Your Captain will count as an additional person, and the Crew can range from 1 to 2 people, depending on your specific requirements.

Once your booking is confirmed, Chi City Charters will provide you with a selection of qualified and approved Captains who have extensive knowledge of the yacht.

Our Captains can offer valuable recommendations regarding the number of Crew members you may require, depending on your specific charter plan. They have a network of experienced Crew members who are familiar with the yacht, and they can enhance your charter experience by providing additional safety, assistance, and service throughout your journey.

Alternatively, Charterers are welcome to provide their own certified Captain. It’s important to note that Captains are independent contractors hired directly by the Charterer and are not affiliated with or employed by Chi City Charters.

The rate for Captains typically ranges from $80 to $250 per hour, depending on their skills, experience, and qualifications, and this does not include gratuity.

It is customary to show appreciation to your hired Captain and Crew by leaving a gratuity of 18-25% of the total charter price (excluding the Captain’s hourly rate). Payment and gratuity should be made directly to your hired Captain.

Captains usually accept cash or payment through peer-to-peer platforms such as ApplePay, Venmo, Zelle, and others.

At Chi City Charters, we accept all major credit cards, including ApplePay, Venmo, Zelle, direct deposit, and cash, providing you with flexible payment options.

However, please be aware that we are unable to accept payment on behalf of your hired Captain or Crew, as they are separate contractors hired directly by the Charterer.

We recommend discussing the preferred method of payment with your hired Captain to ensure a smooth transaction process that aligns with their payment preferences.
