Over the years, it transformed into a cultural center run by the city of Chicago until 2022, when Victoria and Adam Bilter took ownership and restored the club to its original grandeur. Dress code:  While most other clubs maintain strict dress codes, the Core Club allows its members to wear jeans if they choose.   

For The Street:  Chances are at the Core Club you'll be able to rub elbows with the likes of Steve Schwarzman and you  might get the chance to meet the best financiers in the world, like  George Soros, Woody Johnson, and Carl Icahn , who spoke to club members last year.  The late Bruce Wasserstein and the late Ted Forstmann were both members.  Perhaps another reason it's ideal for the Street is unlike most other dining/social clubs you can actually use your electronic devices and hold business meetings.

Membership:  The cost is a $50,000 initiation fee and $15,000 a year to join.

The Down Town Association

Location:  60 Pine Street, between William and Pearl Streets (Financial District)

About:  The DTA is the fifth oldest private club in Manhattan and it was initially opened as a luncheon club catering toward the brokers and financiers crowd and later the legal community.  Today the DTA focuses on a younger generation, too. 

Amenities:    In addition to lunches, today the DTA offers breakfast, dinner service and evening drinks, a wine cellar, pool tables and a fitness center.  

Dress code:  Coats and neckties are required in the main dining room and for Wednesday and Thursday dinner.  Otherwise it's business casual.  

For The Street: Location. Location. Location. For the finance crowd, this social club is conventient because it's close to Deutsche Bank's New York offices and it's near the New York Stock Exchange.  It's also not a far walk for those at the World Financial Center or Goldman Sachs. 

Membership:   Both men and women can be members.

The New York Yacht Club

Location:  37 West 44th Street (Midtown)

About:  The New York Yacht Club was founded in 1844 by a group of yachtsmen.  The club is also known for starting the Americas Cup yacht race .

Amenities:  The primary clubhouse features what is called a  "Model Room," which features a massive display of model ships  as well as a library and a grill room . Apart from the NYYC's beautiful nautical-themed clubhouse in Midtown, the group also has a base called "Harbour Court" in Newport, Rhode Island. 

For The Street:  The New York Yacht Club's prominent members (past and present) include JP Morgan and Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Oh, and convicted ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff was a member, but he has since resigned.  Another perk of membership is that big names might come to speak.  For example, bond god Jeff Gundlach, the founder DoubleLine Capital, recently gave a presentation to investors at the New York Yacht Club.

The New York Athletic Club

Location:    180 Central Park South

About:  It's a private social and athletic club founded in 1896 as a place for accomplished athletes.  

Amenities:  The club boasts training facilities including a fitness center, swimming pool, basketball courts, boxing rings, squash and racquetball courts and places to practice fencing and judo.  There's also a library, card room and billiards room in addition to dining areas.  There's also a clubhouse on Travers Island located in Westchester County. 

Dress code:   Business casual attire, with jacket and collared shirt, is required in public areas from Monday through Friday.  Women are expected to dress in a similar formality. 

For The Street: Wall Street has a reputation for employing the super competitive people, many of whom happen to be  stellar athletes , which makes the NYAC an ideal place for them to exhibit their athleticism.  

Membership: It costs a reported $8,500 to join and more than $3,000 a year for a membership.   Both men and women can join.  Members (there's about 8,600 ) are top notch athletes from disciplines such as track & field, lacrosse, basketball, swimming, wrestling, rowing, etc.  What's more is the club's members throughout its existence have won 119 Olympic gold medals, 53 silver medals and 59 bronze medals. The Union Club

Location:  East 69th Street and Park Avenue (Upper East Side)

About:  The Union Club, which was established in 1836, is the oldest private club in New York City.  

Amenities:   The historic Union Club building offers five dining areas, squash courts, a card room and a backgammon room.  

Dress code: Jackets and ties are required for men and women have to dress in a similar formality. Those who wish to play squash are supposed to wear white clothing and collared shirts on the courts. 

For the Street:  As the oldest private club in New York, the Union Club has been described as "an old boys club," so if that's your style it might be an ideal place to join. 

Membership:  Annual membership fees are reportedly $5,000.

The Metropolitan Club

Location: 60th Street and Fifth Avenue 

About: Famed financier J.Pierpont Morgan, the club's first president, founded the Metropolitan Club in 1891 after one of his friend's was denied membership to the Union Club.  

Amenities:    One of the highlights of the Metropolitan Club is the rooftop dining offering views of Central Park. 

Dress code:   " Gentlemen are required to wear jackets and ties at all times (turtlenecks and ascots are not acceptable). Appropriate attire for ladies is dresses, skirts, dressy pant suits and business pant suits. Jeans, shorts, stirrup pants, leggings, stretch pants, tight pants, sweats and T-shirts are absolutely not acceptable," according to the club's website.

For The Street: It was founded by J.P. Morgan, 'nuff said.

Membership:  It's open to both men and women.  The private social club is said to cost a reported $5,000 a year.

Union League Club

Location: 38 East 37th Street between Madison and Park (Murray Hill)

About:  The Union League Club, which was formed in 1863, is rich in history.  The club was founded by a group of men who wanted to preserve the Union.  They were  instrumental in establishing The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1870 as well as the Sanitary Commission -- a predecessor organization to the American Red Cross.

Amenities:  There are overnight rooms, squash courts, a gym, dining facilities and pool tables on site.  According to a Yelp reviewer, there's a golf simulator on the fourth floor (How cool is that?).   

Dress code:   Business attire, jacket and tie for men and equally formal attire for women, is required throughout the Union League on weekdays between Labor Day and Memorial Day. It's a little more casual during the summer.  

For The Street:  Who doesn't want to get out of the office? Members can go on  outings outside the club such as theater, golf, shooting and wine tasting,  according to a Yelp review .   The Union League Club also offers speakers and events, both of which can be great for networking.

The University Club

Location:   1 West 54th Street

About:   The club was chartered in 1865 and its origins go back to 1861 when a group of college friends, mostly Yale alumni, wanted to form a group to extend their college ties.

Amenities:   Like most members-only clubs, the University Club offers dining, overnight accommodations  athletic facilties such as squash/racquetball courts.  However, there's one thing that most others don't have (anymore) -- nude swimming.  According to a NYTimes' article, nude swimming is allowed for male-members only .  

Dress code:    Men are required to wear jackets, dress shirts and ties. Women are required to wear clothing meeting similar standards -- suits, dresses and skirts or tailored trousers with dress shirts, blouses or sweaters. 

For The Street : The club labels itself as the "premier club of New York," so what Wall Streeter wouldn't want to be seen there? Also, many finance-related panels and events are held at the club, so it's a good place to rub elbows with the best of the industry.

Membership: Both men and women can be members of the University Club.  The fees are kept underwraps.

Whether you're looking to enjoy a nightcap on a gorgeous rooftop terrace (on the regular), socialize, watch the game in a ritzy lounge or have fun on the water, these private clubs have it all.

But joining a members-only club isn't supposed to be easy, so you should expect to jump through a few hoops before you get in the door. Some require a special invite, while others ask for a pretty hefty initiation fee — but once you're in, it's smooth sailing from there with parties, cool amenities, and endless perks.

So without further ado, here are eight members-only clubs in Toronto and what you need to know before you can join them.

Price: Fees vary, but if you're under 27 and looking for an annual membership to the Soho House in Toronto it'll cost you $1,074 in 2023. If you're under this age but want to hit up every house they have around the world, it'll be $2,543 (plus a one-time registration fee of $480.25 that will be taken when you're accepted). If you're over 27, an annual membership will cost you $1,752 in Toronto and $5,085 for access to all their houses — but you can also opt for a quarterly membership that's cheaper.

Why You Need To Go: Set in the city's Entertainment District, Soho House has its own bars and club, including a rooftop one that offers incredible views. Plus, you can bring up to three guests at a time, book their members-only bedrooms, and access their gyms, spas, and events.

Price: Fees vary, but those under 25 can expect to pay $480 per year for a junior and student membership. There is also a $75 initiation fee, and annual land levies, which will get you access to their dining room, facilities, social events, and crew bank programs. If you're over 25 and are just looking for a social membership, you should expect to pay $512, plus a $100 initiation fee with the expectation that you'll need to spend at least $55 in their dining room each month. But fees go up for anyone looking to dock, whether you have a paddleboard, kayak, boat or any other type of vessel.

Price: Fees vary, but those under the age of 30 pay a one-time initiation fee of $5,500 with $2,370 in annual dues (plus tax) in 2023. If you're between the ages of 30 and 34 you can expect to pay $6,650 for initiation and $3,560 in annual dues, and if you're somewhere between 35 and 39 years old you can expect to pay $7,800 for initiation and $3,560 in annual dues.

Price: Fees vary for the Granite Club, but those between 16 and 29 years old can expect to pay anywhere between $19,800 to $44,500 for an entrance fee and between $536 to $1,351 in annual dues starting July 1, 2023. The rates change according to age, so expect to pay even more than that the older you are. If you're between 30 and 69 years old, you're looking at an entrance fee of $49,350 and annual dues that fall somewhere between $2,735 and $4,055.

Why You Need To Go: This family, athletic, recreation, and social club has so much going on — from a full-service salon and barbershop to physio and massage therapy, aquatics, badminton, curling, tennis, skating, squash, and golf. The Granite Club offers different dining areas and event spaces, but there is a dress code, so don't expect to show up in ripped jeans, flip-flops, or short skirts, because they're definitely not allowed. You can also enjoy all the benefits of membership at their reciprocal clubs across the country and around the world.

Price: Fees vary, but full-time students and everyone under 32 years old have to pay an initiation fee of $1,500. Annual dues vary as well, as students pay $750, and anyone 32 years old and younger is expected to pay $1,300. But you can also opt for a trial membership for $117 per month and defer the initiation fee. Is your mom, dad, or grandparent a member already? In that case, your initiation fee gets discounted by 50%. If you're between the ages of 33 and 44 years old you can expect to pay a $2,500 initiation feed and $2,515 in annual dues for 2023.

Lake Lanier has a variety of Sailing Clubs, each tailored to meet your different needs and desires.  Whether your main goal is to socialize and make friends, or to race regionally or nationally, follow the links below to find the club for you:  

Lake Lanier Sailing Club

Located in Flowery Branch, Lake Lanier Sailing Club is a private, family oriented sailing club that is involved in all aspects related to the sport, but places special emphasis on sailboat racing.  They are affiliated with the US Sailing Association, South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association, and Dixie Inland Yacht Racing Association.  They have a large clubhouse, campground, beach, bathing facilities, an 88 boat marina, and dry storage facilities that accommodate mroe than 200 trailered boats.  Club members compete in numerous one-design portsmouth dinghy and auxiliary fleets at local, regional, and national levels.  They also have a very active junior fleet.    

Barefoot Sailing Club

This club has been in existance for over 30 years.  It is different from the others because you don’t have to own a boat to join, you only need a love for sailing. 

Catalina 22 Fleet 58

Fleet 58 is a member of the Catalina 22 National Sailing Association.  As a part of this association, it is recognized across the nation as being one of the most active fleets for cruising, racing, and social events.  They believe the most valuable benefit of Fleet 58 is the members.  Membership fees are $35 a year. 

LARC – Lanier Auxiliary Racing Committee

Southern Sailing Club of Lake Lanier

Their mission is to provide an exciting, affordable, and family-oriented club that actively seeks to enrich the sailing experiences of its members with programs that support safety, seamanship, and performance.  They offer two membership levels:  full and associate.  Full membership is for members with or without a boat and costs $50 a year.  Associate membership costs $25 a year and is for members without a boat who would like to be a part of SSC tradition.  

University Yacht Club

This club was founded in 1951, is a member of the United States Sailing Association, and is listed on the registery of Yachting Clubs in America.  Members participate in active power and sailing fleets that are berthed at Club docks.  As the name suggests, applicants must have attended an accredited college or university, and must be sponsored by three UYC members in good standing.  Upon approval of membership, there is an initial membership fee in addition to annual membership fees.    

Kingdom Yachts Sailing Club  

Based in Cumming, Kingdom Yachts Sailing Club has members across the south and cruise worldwide.

Brockville Yacht Club

Membership Levels

Brockville Yacht Club offers a variety of membership options. We look forward to welcoming you into our community. For more information about the types of membership available, refer below to the details of each membership type so that you can choose the one that is right for you and how you plan to use the Club facilities.

Senior Member

A Senior Member shall be 18 years of age or more shall enjoy all the facilities and privileges of the Club and shall be eligible to hold office and entitled to vote at any meeting of members of the Club.

A family membership shall consist of a Senior Member, spouse and any children less than 18 years of age.  The Senior Member shall enjoy all the facilities and privileges of the Club, and shall be eligible to hold office and entitled to vote at any meeting of members of the Club.  The spouse shall enjoy all the facilities of the Club except the wet mooring of a boat thereat but shall not be entitled to vote at any meeting of members of the Club, except in the absence of the Senior Member, the spouse may exercise the Senior Member’s voting privileges at any meeting of members of the Club.  Either the Senior Member or the spouse shall be eligible to hold office. The children under 18 years of age shall enjoy the facilities and privileges as defined for Junior Member. Upon reaching 18 years of age, a child of a Family Member must become an Intermediate Member or a Senior Member or must leave the Club.

Intermediate

An Intermediate Member shall be at least 18 years of age and not more than 21 years of age, except that a student in full-time and continuous attendance at any school or university, may hold intermediate membership, notwithstanding that he/she has attained 21 years of age.  An Intermediate Member shall be entitled only to dry sailing privileges for the operation of his/her own boat but shall otherwise be entitled to enjoy all facilities of the Club but shall not be entitled to hold office or to vote at any meeting of members of the Club.

A Junior Member shall be less than 18 years of age and shall be entitled only to dry sailing privileges for the operation of his/her own boat but otherwise shall be entitled to enjoy all the facilities of the Club, except those posted, but shall not be entitled to hold office or to vote at any meeting of members of the Club.

Senior Associate

A Senior Associate Member shall be 18 years of age or more and shall be entitled to enjoy all the facilities of the Club except wet mooring or dry sailing privileges but shall not be entitled to hold office or to vote at any meeting of members of the Club.

Family Associate

A family associate membership shall consist of a Senior Associate Member, spouse and any children under 18 years of age, each of whom shall be entitled to enjoy all the facilities of the Club except wet mooring or dry sailing privileges required for the operation of his/her/their own boat(s) thereat, but shall not be entitled to hold office or to vote at any meeting of members of the Club.

SUSTAINING MEMBER - a Sustaining Member is one who has been a Senior Member in good standing and desires to become temporarily inactive while retaining a connection with the Club.  A Sustaining Member shall have the same rights and privileges as privileged persons and visitors but shall not be entitled to hold office or vote at any meeting of members of the Club. A Sustaining Member may revert to Senior Membership by paying all current membership fees.

Non-Resident

A Non-Resident Member is one who resides more than sixty kilometers in direct line from the Clubhouse.  A Non-Resident Member shall be entitled to use the Club for social activities only but shall not be entitled to hold office or to vote at any meeting of members of the Club.

The following two membership levels are awarded by appointment by the Directors of the Club.

An Honorary Member shall be appointed as such by the directors of the Club in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the welfare of the Club.  The appointment shall be for a term to expire at the next Annual General Meeting.  An Honorary Member and spouse shall enjoy all the facilities of the Club but shall not be entitled to hold office or to vote at any meeting of members of the Club.

An Honorary Life Member shall be appointed as such by the directors of the Club in special recognition of an outstanding long-term contribution, or a single extraordinary contribution to the welfare of the Club.  The appointment shall be for life.  An Honorary Member and spouse shall enjoy the privileges of a Senior or Family member.  Refer to the Club bylaws for more detail on honorary memberships.

WYC Memberships can either be paid on a quarterly or yearly basis. Membership dues go to maintaining WYC’s boat fleet as well as buying fuel and supplies for social events (such as Snooze and Cruise).

Quarterly dues, annual dues, faculty/staff/alumni, wyc membership form.

Sign up for an annual or quarterly membership with the Washington Yacht Club. WYC memberships are $39 per quarter or $100 annually for students and $80 per quarter or $225 annually for non-students.

If you graduated, you do not count as as student.

UW Recreation Department is requiring that all WYC members hold an IMA membership (now known as Rec membership) in addition to a WYC membership in order to access facilities/docks at the Waterfront Activities Center. The IMA membership is typically included in a UW Seattle student's tuition. For summer quarter, unless taking classes, UW students will need to purchase a IMA membership.

For UW Employees and UW Retirees, you are eligible to purchase IMA memberships for $120 per quarter or $390 per year. For others, you can be paired with an IMA membership holder to receive a Plus One IMA membership for $96 per quarter if paired with a student or $126 per quarter if paired with an employee.

I agree that as a member of WYC MY PARTICIPATION IS VOLUNTARY AND AT MY OWN RISK ; with full understanding and appreciation of the Risks involved, I agree that I AM SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR MY OWN SAFETY AND FOR ALL DAMAGES arising from my participation as a club member, in club related activities, or using club vessels, facilities or equipment; I understand and accept that I MAY SUFFER TEMPORARY, PERMANENT OR EVEN FATAL INJURIES, even if I follow all advice and instructions given by WYC directors, chiefs, officers, instructors, employees, volunteers or other agents (“the Club”) ; that training, coaching, instruction, supervision, and enforcement of club rules by the Club does not and cannot guarantee my personal safety; that I may freely choose not to participate in any activity which I subjectively believe to be unsafe; and that BY CHOOSING TO PARTICIPATE I KNOWINGLY AND VOLUNTARILY ASSUME ALL RISKS .

I represent that | am physically fit and capable of performing all club Activities I choose to participate in. I know of no medical or health reason why I should not participate in any club Activities as a WYC member. I agree that I will personally and subjectively evaluate each club Activity before participating to determine whether it is safe and suitable for me. If at any time I feel I cannot or should not participate, or continue my participation, I will discontinue my participation immediately. I will immediately notify WYC of any health problem or medical condition that could affect my ability to participate safely in any Activities .

WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY

In partial consideration for WYC acceptance of my application for membership, and in exchange for participation in the Activities provided by the club, and the use of club facilities or equipment, I agree to the following provisions:

• I unconditionally WAIVE AND RELEASE ALL CLAIMS, AND AGREE TO HOLD HARMLESS, DEFEND AND INDEMNIFY WYC AND THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON, ITS OFFICERS, AGENTS AND EMPLOYEES (“UW”) FROM ANY CLAIM, COSTS, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY for injury, damages or losses arising from my participation in any club Activities, INCLUDING THOSE RESULTING FROM NEGLIGENCE , against UW, WYC, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, members and/or agent in the course and within the scope of their WYC-imposed duties;
• I hereby unconditionally RELIEVE WYC AND UW OF ALL DUTY TO PROTECT ME FROM HARM in connection with any Activities in which I participate;
• I agree that at all times I will abide by all applicable WYC, University of Washington, Local, State and Federal laws, rules and regulations governing my actions while a participant in club Activities ; if I should choose not to comply with any such laws, rules or regulation I ACCEPT FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALL DAMAGES OR OTHER CONSEQUENCES arising from my non-compliance, and I AGREE TO HOLD HARMLESS, DEFEND AND INDEMNIFY WYC AND UW from any claim, legal action, or enforcement that may arise from my non-compliance;
• I agree that this CONTRACT shall be construed in accordance with, and governed by, the laws of the State of Washington, without reference to principles governing choice or conflicts of laws; I agree that any lawsuit against WYC and/or UW must be filed and maintained in state courts sitting in King County, Washington State, or in federal courts sitting in the Western District of Washington State; and I consent and agree that jurisdiction and venue for such proceedings shall lie exclusively with such courts. If any portion of this CONTRACT is held to be void or unenforceable, I agree that the remaining terms shall remain in full force and effect.

CONSENT TO TREATMENT

Should I require emergency medical treatment as a result of accident or illness arising during my participation in club Activities , I consent to such treatment. I acknowledge that WYC as a volunteer-run public charity with limited resources does not provide health or accidence insurance for members or participants during sailing or other club Activities and I agree to be financially responsible for any medical bills incurred as a result of emergency medical treatment provided. I will notify WYC in writing if I have or I develop a medical condition or health problem about which emergency medical personnel should be informed.

I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE ABOVE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RISK, RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY , AND CONSENT TO TREATMENT ;

Non-resident social memberships are for members who live a minimum of 50 miles outside the University Club address AND use the club six months a year or less. Members holding this type of membership do not have access to the fitness center or the pool; this is a social membership only.

A 10% discount is applied to all member dues if paid annually (discount does not apply to application fees or Business and Non-Resident memberships).

Stout’s Island Lodge is a romantic National Historic Landmark century-old log lodge on a private island that is located less than two and a half hours from the Twin Cities in Birchwood, Wisconsin.

Are My Yacht Club Dues Deductible?

Deducting membership dues has always been a highly scrutinized deduction by the IRS, club memberships are naturally a target because they are considered an entertainment expense and these types of expenses have a strict supporting documentation standard with the Internal Revenue Service.

When it comes to membership dues the IRS distinguishes between dues paid to clubs, which often are not deductible, and dues paid to professional organizations, which are deductible. 

Generally, you cannot deduct dues paid to social, athletic, sporting, airline, hotel, and luncheon clubs. The IRS views these organizations as providers of entertainment for their members. In contrast, dues paid to professional associations, trade associations, and public service groups may be deductible if you paid the dues for a business purpose and the organization’s purpose is not entertainment. However, other business expenses paid at a club, such as meals, may be deducted to the extent they satisfy the other requirements for a business deduction. If you take your client to your club for lunch during which a substantial and bona-fide business discussion takes place you may deduct 50 percent of the cost of the lunch.

Remember that to be deductible, club dues must not only escape this loss dis-allowance rule, they must also be an ordinary and necessary business expense.

For tax consequences, a club’s activities, not its name nor your reason for joining, control whether the IRS determines if it exists to entertain its members or if it has a business or social service purpose.

Let’s say for example you are a yachting professional based in Fort Lauderdale, you purchase a membership to a local yacht club for you and your family.  A few times each month you head down to the club to eat dinner and participate in social activities with some of the other yachting professionals who are also members of the yacht club.  Just because you are socializing with other yachting professionals at the club and you may occasionally talk about business does not mean the membership is deductible.  Again, as stated above, the membership dues are not deductible, however the extra cost for dining at the club may be 50% deductible to the extent that they satisfy the requirements of a business meal deduction.

It is important to remember that dues for professional associations and trade organizations are generally deductible as long as they are related to your current profession and these types of dues should not be confused with country club or social dues which are the focus of this column.

If you do decide that your yacht club membership is deductible I recommend you keep a journal detailing exactly how that membership is necessary and ordinary to your production of income and you will also want to keep a record of who you meet with at that club along with the business purpose of those meetings.

Thank you for your interest in the Lake Norman Yacht Club! LNYC is a sailing club for members of all experience levels. Our mission is to promote the sport of sailing, both recreational cruising and racing. We have an active keelboat fleet, and our junior program is one of the strongest in the southeast! 

If you haven't already been to the club, we highly recommend coming to visit for a tour or one of the many events this season. We do have a limited number of club-owned boats that members can use, including a Highlander, a Flying Scot, a San Juan 21, and 420s and Vanguard 15s (420s and V15s belong to the junior program, but adults use them too). For any of these boats, you would contact the captain for that particular fleet and they will check you out on the boat and have you sign any associated waivers. 

Membership Types There are two types of membership, Associate and Resident, available to New Members.   

Associate members can enjoy full use of the property, including the pavilion, clubhouse, swimming area, and launch ramps. The biggest difference is that Associate members are not permitted to keep boats on the property. Associate members can attend all the annual meetings of the club, but in the case of a vote, they do not have the opportunity to vote. Of course, they can contribute to the discussion!  Resident members have a vote in any situations that might arise during annual meetings, and they can keep property on the property, including boats on trailers in dry storage, a sailboat in a slip, or a camper in one of our campsites.  Resident membership includes one dry storage space for a sailboat. Powerboat dry storage incurs additional fees. Slip space is for sailboats only and involves additional fees. Slips are limited and there may be a waiting list.

For either type of membership, you'll have a one-time initiation fee and then annual dues. Your dues are prorated from the date your membership is approved by the board of directors.  In addition, all club members have the responsibility to serve on race committee. This means you will go out and help run races on a weekend of your choice. You'll sign up for duty and the PRO (principal race officer - the person in charge of the racing) will reach out to you so she/he can assign you a role that you feel comfortable with doing. Running races takes a few people who know racing very well, but also takes many people who don't have to have an extensive knowledge of racing. Secondly, since we're an all-volunteer club,  members are asked to come out and help at one of the club workdays or complete a club project on their own time.
