First unveiled in autumn 2022, the 146.35m mega yacht OPERA was built in Germany by the renowned luxury yacht builder Lurssen and represents one of the largest yachts on the water today. Both the exterior lines and the interior of this impressive vessel were designed by well-known Terence Disdale Design studio while her naval architecture is by the yard’s professional in-house team of architects.

As yachts of this calibre are always extremely secretive, there have been very few details unveiled about OPERA. Judging by the photographs, we can tell that some of her main features include massive deck spaces, both in and out, two helipads, at least two swimming pools, numerous dining and lounging areas on various decks and a huge beach platform at transom. She is expected to have a large variety of water toys, including tenders, jet skis, inflatable toys and much, much more.

At this stage, it is unknown whether she will ever be available for charter, however, she would certainly satisfy even the most discerning of guests, with a great equipage of crew at service 24/7.

146m Lürssen superyacht Opera delivered

The 146-metre superyacht Opera has been delivered after leaving Lürssen's Bremen site in northern Germany. The tenth-largest privately owned yacht in the world undertook her maiden voyage to Portsmouth Harbour in the UK where she arrived yesterday (5 March).

Terence Disdale is responsible for both the exterior and interior of the yacht, which is understood to have a 20-metre beam and interior volume exceeding 10,000GT. 

After paying a visit to Portsmouth, she is expected to continue onwards to a home berth in the Mediterranean or Middle East.

While details are sparse, pictures show a pair of helipads on the foredeck and upper deck aft and two swimming pools on the sun deck and main deck, the latter of which has a rise-and-fall floor.

Opera is thought to be a rebuild project of 145-metre Project Sassi, which was destroyed in the 2018 shipyard fire.

The yacht joins eight other in-build Lürssen superyachts, including the 100-metre-plus Project Alibaba and the 122-metre Project Jag , which is set to hit the water soon with delivery in 2023.

Last night onlookers were left stunned as one of the world's biggest superyachts sailed into Portsmouth Harbour. The moment was captured on video (above) as The Opera arrived for a brief stay and crew change.

The incredible vessel accommodates 48 guests across 24 staterooms. It arrived on Sunday evening (March 5) and left first thing Monday (March 6).

According to SuperYachtFan , the owner is Abu Dhabi-based Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He is the son of the founder of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, reports Hampshire Live .

Elsewhere, another incredible yacht arrived in Dorset this morning. The AIDAbella pulled into Portland this morning (March 7) and is expected to stay for around 12 hours.

It can hold 2,500 passengers in total, with a crew of 646. It features a beautiful central Theatrium, as well as a nude sunbathing area at the rear.

The AIS tracker has not specified where the vessel goes next, with a route set ending at Portland as of 9am today (March 7). The ship is owned by German company AIDA Cruises, but is currently registered at Genoa, Italy.

EXCLUSIVE: Lürssen's 146m superyacht Project Opera breaks cover

The technical launch of Lürssen's latest superyacht Project Opera  has taken place at the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg this morning. Due for delivery next year, she is believed to be a replacement for the 146m motor yacht SASSI, which was unfortunately destroyed in a fire at Lürssen's German shipyard in 2018. She's been moved to a floating dock before departing to Bremen shortly where she will begin outfitting and prepare for sea trials.

As typical of Lürssen projects (such as motor yacht NORD ), superyacht Project Opera's build was shrouded in secrecy and completed in record time too: given that she is reportedly the exact same staggering length as luxury yacht SASSI. 

According to our exclusive images of Project Opera at the Hamburg shipyard, she appears to be a direct replacement of the destroyed vessel, with similar porthole window designs. We can see she has generous outdoor spaces, including a Jacuzzi on the sundeck and a large swimming pool on the main deck aft. The photos also reveal she has an ample beach club, swimming platform and tender garages.

As one would expect of a superyacht of this size and calibre, Project Opera will almost certainly have the finest facilities for her owner and guests to enjoy. In terms of convenience and the least intrusion possible, this will likely include an elevator, a separate crew passageway and an owner's study. For the ultimate indulgence, a variety of pampering facilities such as a sauna, spa, massage room and hammam are also anticipated to be featured, providing guests with their own reinvigorating private paradise. Other probable amenities include a cinema and a gym.

As for her expected exterior features, she will likely have 2 helipads, including one on the bow — which has become the new standard for superyachts over 100m. 

Will motor yacht OPERA be available for yacht charter?

It is believed that Project Opera will be a private yacht and will not become available for  superyacht charters once delivered.

At 146m, the superyacht will be the sixth largest yacht Lurssen has built at the time of her launch in September 2022. 

OPERA was first spotted in May 2021 when she transported to the yard's Bremen outfitting facilities in Germany.

In Elementary school I wanted desperately to play a musical instrument. I really wanted to play the piano most of all. But I didn't get a piano until my senior year of high school. The first instrument the music instructor gave me was a flute, which was a failure. Next came the trumpet that quickly left in two weeks' time.

Then came the chorus. A large blow loomed yet ahead. After I sang for the chorus teacher, my mother informed me that the teacher told her I had no vocal talents. She couldn't place my voice. However, this didn't stop me from trying to convince the other teachers that I had talent! I was already a Lyric Tenor at the age of  eleven with adult vocal chords, and a full voice high C.

I spent the summer before junior high school in the country with friends of the family, where I took long walks, singing to the squirrels and any of God's creatures that would listen to me. In junior high, I enrolled in chorus. Upon hearing my voice, the chorus teacher, Lois Lee, took me aside and said I had the makings of a fine operatic tenor. It was the biggest surprise!

For the next two years, this wonderful woman worked with me on her own time, after school, vocalizing my range and teaching me German Lieder and Broadway show tunes. At this point she introduced me to Aldersgate Methodist Church, where she was a member. I immediately became a member of the choir. At church, I learned the invaluable tools of sight-singing and the great Oratorio répértoire. The director, Wayne Zarr, a classical operatic tenor himself, gave me free voice lessons. I was learning all of the great operatic arias for tenor, whether I was ready for them or not!

I was fortunate enough to go to El Camino High School in South San Francisco. They had an exceptional performing arts department. Running this magical theater department was a married team, Ted and Elizabeth Marr. Both teachers were veteran professionals in the arts before becoming high school teachers. They had vast knowledge about the do's and don'ts of the theater. Now my training was really beginning. I quickly became soloist in their traveling show troupe which gave me hundreds of opportunities to grow and develop my performance skills all over the country.

While still in high school I studied Italian with Elena Arana at the Italian Cultural Center. Desperate to sing opera, I needed an advanced voice teacher. William McKenna, a protégé of the great Italian tenor Giovanni Martinelli, became my Maestro. Under Bill's guidance, I learned much about the glorious music of the great operetta composers: Lehar, Romberg, Herbert, Friml, and Kalman.

Along with keeping my grades up and studying music, I found time to audition and perform in musicals and many concerts. Eager to graduate and go on to college, I took a few night courses at Skyline Jr. College where I sang my first opera, "Dialogues of the Carmelites" by Poulenc, under the direction of William Conrad.

I attended Skyline Jr. College for two years, studying piano, musical composition, and voice. Also, I studied music history and dramatic arts at California State University at San Francisco. Maestro Lazlo Varga chose me to sing the Tenor lead in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi.

In 1981, I won the Metropolitan Opera auditions, Apprentice Category, the youngest person to have done so.

I attended master classes with the famed Metropolitan Opera Mezzo-Soprano, Blanche Thebom; and Metropolitan Opera coach, Jack Metz. I studied voice and coached privately with Janet Parlova, Robert R. Conrad, Steve Olla, Inara Morgenstern, Edwin Barlow, Maria Greco, and several others.

Finding a voice teacher in the mid-1980's was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Many teachers I worked with had good intentions but no real knowledge of vocal technique. I soon found out that no knowledge of vocal technique was just as bad as incorrect knowledge. I soon got into vocal trouble and lost my voice. I was devastated and thought I would never sing again but that was not my destiny. After seeing a voice doctor and being completely mute for three months, a friend referred me to a voice teacher, John De Merchant. He would change my life forever.

John was a student of Dr. Douglas Stanley, who taught the Melocchi method of the lowered larynx. I had the privilege of working with this man off and on for ten years. Not only did I acquire a phenomenal vocal technique with power, brilliance and exceptional range of three and a half octaves, but I also learned how to be a Divo under his guidance: I learned style, and elegance. He also introduced me to Bel Canto and dramatic répértoire.

There comes a time when every accomplished singer must become his/her own master teacher. After John retired, I coached exclusively with renowned pianist and vocal coach, Russell Norman, from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

In 1992, I won the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition. I was also a finalist in the 1994 Friedrich Schorr Opera Competition

In the mid-1990's, I took a position at the venerable Melody Lane sheet music store in Palo Alto and became store manager. While I was at Melody Lane, I met many performing artists and teachers. I continued to teach voice students and perform with such companies as TheaterWorks, Marin Civic Light Opera, Berkeley Opera, Cinnabar Opera, Pocket Opera, and the Marin Symphony.

I wanted to help my students and other performers as well as further my development as a concert artist. I then decided to find a performance venue and create an ongoing concert series. My Studio Galas provide performance opportunities for my advanced students as well as professional artists in concert for appreciative Bay Area audiences.

We used PLY for a party bus during my friend's wedding festivals. I have to say, Mark was great! The bus was amazing. All us boys had a great time...though I hope Mark didn't get too annoyed with how crazy we all got. He was on time and had supplied water and ice for us. Will definitely use PLY again in the future.

I spoke to Mark about the booking and he was very helpful with descriptions and prices. Both my good friend and I rented the 32-person bus for our birthdays (December and February), and had a blast. Key points: 1. Mark was also the driver and is friendly, professional, and prompt 2. They will provide ice and cups on the 32 person bus, which saved me time when planning what to bring on-board 3. The bus is FUN with a lighting system, iPod hook-ups, and rails on the ceiling so you can dance and not fall over while the bus is moving 4. Not only is the bus fun, but it's sexy - with limo-style seating and looks top notch, unlike some other janky party buses I've been on My group was a bit of a handful, so I graciously thank PLY for everything. I had the best birthday EVER!

Celebrating a friend's birthday, a group of 30, decided to rent the party bus & had an unforgettable night :) This is the most fun and safe way of partying since we could bring in our drinks, dance, chat amongst ourselves and get to our desirable spots. Mark was so informative and personable. All of the equipment was clean, up to date, and user friendly. If you are looking for a great time on a party bus, this is where to get it. Positively 5 stars!!!

Mark was great to work with and even accommodated last minute changes to the itinerary. The land yacht itself was very cool with nice seats, a great sound system, and some really fun laser lights. Overall, my friends and I had a wonderful time and I'd recommend Mark and his company to anyone thinking of renting a party bus!

(ask for him!!!) - A disgustingly luxurious/ elegant/ classy ride for the night that entertainment-wise was equipped with: an iPod hook-up, a CD player, a DVD player so you can rock out to whatever your ear drums desire - 32 passengers (we squeezed 35-36 into the vehicle comfortably) to split said cost amongst - 2 complimentary bottles of champagne (chilled) w/ approximately a case of water also chilled. - Red Carpet rolled out for the 1st pick-up of the night - A 6-venue party-hop that picked us up in SoMa, lead us into the Mission, back up to the Tenderloin, through SoMa again, to Union Square area, to North Beach, across the Golden Gate Bridge & back home to SoMa (we organized the clubbing part of the night, but Pacific made it seamless to get everywhere ON TIME!) - No drunk/ tipsy drivers, no people left behind trying to hail a cab in SF on a Saturday night (miracle in and of itself) & wait for 30 useless minutes - A RESTROOM (when you have 32+ WOMEN, this is a non-negotiable feature) - A cell phone number you can reach your driver @ to call your party bus in front of a venue 5mins before departure - An immediate-quote response when you fill out the form on the website - They let you coordinate a date/ time for you to swing by and check out the vehicle before your event date - You can load up on the alcohol, food, snacks and bring them on the party bus! - I'm sure there's a dozen other things I'm forgetting right now that I know I should be thanking them for... After searching all over the Bay I came across Pacific Land Yachts. I emailed them and received a reasonable quote and decided to go with them for my 30th birthday party. Mark picked my friends up and he was very patient since most of my friends were already tipsy. We hired him for 5hours. We were picked up in San Jose and dropped off at a club in San Francisco and then he picked us again to take us back to San Jose. He was very attentive and corresponded with me during the week to make sure we would be ok getting into the club in San Francisco. The bus had a bathroom which was very convenient. Not a lot of party bus companies have bathrooms so I would highly recommend Pacific Land Yachts. The night was blur but my friends and I all got back to San Jose safely. No DUI or arrests. If you are looking to have a good time hire Pacific Land Yachts. The bus is nice and spacious and they supply you with ice and bottles of water. It's like a moving night club and they have two 26" Tv's and a great sound system. I would have preferred to just party in the bus, it's so much fun and you are guaranteed to be in safe hands. I am definitely hiring Pacific Land Yachts again for future outings. Thank you Mark.

Mark drove our group to the Warriors game this weekend and the bus ride was the highlight of the trip! We took his 32 person bus which was clean, spacious and had all the amenities. Mark was great and got us up there quickly despite a lot of traffic. We will definitely use him again!

If you need to book a party bus, I highly recommend Pacific Land Yachts!! After spending several hours one evening researching and sending out price quote requests to various companies, PLY was the only one that paid attention to my particular needs (namely, our budget) and Mark answered all my follow-up questions clearly and promptly (I emailed and called to confirm.) Thanks to Yelp reviews, we decided it was safe to book with PLY. There are no hidden fees whatsoever, everything is included in the price quote. We called the day before prom to confirm pickup time and location, and it was such a relief to see our bus roll into our street right on time on the day of. The bus was wonderfully clean and so luxurious; the photos definitely don't lie! We loved being able to hook up our phones to the sound system so we could play our own music, and everyone got complimentary bottles of water. The disco lighting, window blinds, and non-row seating were a great plus, and our 34 passenger bus fit 34 people snugly but not uncomfortably. Our driver was polite and easy to communicate with, especially considering we were a bunch of very excited teenagers. When prom ended at midnight, our bus was right outside our venue waiting for us. If you're searching for a party bus, look no further! Pacific Land Yachts, far and away, are the absolute best in SF! I booked the 30 passenger white bus for a birthday party. The bus was very spacious, clean and had a great sound system. Mark was fantastic! Not only did he offer the best rate, only a 4 hour minimum with taxes and gratuity included, he was extremely professional, went out of his way to ensure we had a great time AND even dropped our excess beverages food off at our house so we could make it to the club on time! Talk about EXCELLENT customer service! I will definitely use PLY again!!

We have looked everywhere for a decent party bus around SF and have found none. Thankfully, we found Pacific Land Yachts. This company is the GREATEST! The price is reasonable and the bus is off the hook! On top of that, we had an awesome driver. Mark was so courteous and on time! He took us to five different places in SF and didn't even complain.
