ABOUT THE BAND

Yachtley Crew has spent the past few years selling out shows across the U.S., performing online during covid, and gathering a fan base of "Crewpies" that is unsurpassed. Having signed with legendary rock manager Andy Gould (Lionel Richie, Rob Zombie, Guns N' Roses, Linkin Park, etc.), the band recently recorded their very first ORIGINAL song, "Sex On The Beach," which was produced and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge (Stevie Nicks, Steven Tyler, Keith Urban, Bruce Springsteen.) The song debuted on the LA radio station 95.5 KLOS in April. Yachtley Crew added it to their recent live in-studio performance on the SiriusXM Radio Yacht Rock 311 show as the first-ever Yacht Rock band to perform at the station. Yachtley Crew is a Los Angeles area based band of talented and tenured musicians with a common set of goals: to entertain music lovers with some of the greatest songs ever written back in the late 70's and early 80's, and to have as much fun as possible while performing those hits. Some fans may know it as "soft rock", others may identify it as "yacht rock", a more recently coined phrase. One thing is for sure, Yachtley Crew takes their sound very seriously. "They pay tribute to the songs by nailing the performances, but also blow the crowds away with their live presence, group banter and on-stage antics", said one scribe... The Yächtley Crëw ​Block Party at Music Box

For our 9th anniversary we are closing India street and ​putting on a block party. We would like everyone who has ​ever geeked out to Yächtley Crëw to wear their best white ​nauticals and join us for a 4,000 person yacht rock sing ​along to reflect on what’s become of Yachtley, and what’s ​become of Music Box!

Is the event 21+?

Yes. Please bring valid identification.

Can I smoke weed?

No. While smoking pot is legal in California for private use, it is not permitted on our smoking patio or inside our venue.

When should I arrive?

Gates open at 3pm and we will have a DJ, live band karaoke, a photobooth, delicious food and drinks, and other fun activities to get you in the Yacht Rock mood before the bands start playing.

Ticket fine print

All ticket sales are final. No refunds or exchanges will be provided. In the case of a cancellation, all tickets will be valid at the rescheduled date. Refunds will be issued if a rescheduled date does not take place within 180 days.

Festival will happen RAIN or SHINE. Come prepared!

What food and drink options will be available?

The food program at our block party will include vendors for all types of palates; hand picked to ensure attendees are well fed and happy. All of our bartenders are industry veterans who are fast, efficient and provide the attendees with quality craft cocktails and ice cold beer.

No outside food may be brought into the location, including bottled water. Empty refillable water bottles are ok.

Will there be a first aid station?

There is a devoted First Aid tent and medical staff will be present on the event grounds.

Can I bring children?

No, the event is 21+

Where can I park?

We highly recommend you take a ride share service to get to the event. The rideshare drop off zones will be on the corner of Ash st. and India st., near the front of the Bayside Inn at 555 Ash St. There are also 7 parking lots within one block of the venue with reasonable daytime rates.

Will there be accessible viewing areas?

There will be viewing areas with chairs at the stage, made available for ADA patrons that need to be able to see over the crowd. ADA patrons are welcome to have one companion with them on the viewing areas. Please note that these areas are on a first-come, first served basis. Please see festival map for specific locations and visit the Access Center to acquire access to these areas.

What items are required?

• Proof of ticket purchased
• Credit/Debit card and/or cash
• Government-issued photo I.D.

What items are allowed?

• Sunscreen & blankets.
• Refillable water bottles; must be under 24oz., no glass. 
• One small/medium-sized backpack (no large or framed backpacks).
• Non-Professional, point & shoot cameras (attached lenses must be smaller than 2 inches).

What items are prohibited?

• NO weapons, fireworks or explosives.
• NO alcohol or illegal substances.
• NO Drugs or Drug Paraphernalia.
• NO Smoking or Vaping of ANY substance in any non-designated smoking zones
• NO Cannabis Products
• NO drones or aircraft.
• NO RC Toys or Cars
• NO pets (except legitimate service animals as covered by law)
• NO chairs, tents, pop-ups, canopies or umbrellas.
• NO squirt guns.
• NO Balloons, Balls, Inflatable Balls, Frisbees.
• NO Laser pens or similar focused light devices.
• NO cameras with detachable lenses. Attached lenses must be smaller than 2 inches.
• NO Professional Recording Equipment.
• NO Selfie-Sticks, Go Pros, Tripods.
• NO Markers, Pens or Spray Paint.
• NO Stickers, Flyers, Banners, Posters or Flags.
• NO glass 
• NO outside beverages.
• NO outside food (reasonably-priced food is available inside the festival including vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free/dairy-free options).
• NO coolers of any size, large or framed backpacks, or selfie sticks.
• NO unauthorized vendors.
• NO Unauthorized Solicitations, Sampling or Give-Aways
• NO unapproved pamphlets, handouts, advertisements, and promotional materials (including stickers, vending items, etc).

Do I have to print my digital tickets? I don’t have a printer.

We prefer to scan tickets off of smartphones. Save a tree.

Yachtley   Crew are the seven-piece So Cal band who burst onto the club scene in 2017, selling out countless local venues before starting a nationwide Yacht Rock craze. The band set sail on their “Full Steam Ahead Tour” in February and continue on their nationwide tour throughout 2024 in support of their debut EP  Seas The Day  via Jimmy Buffett’s Mailboat Records. Newly added to their schedule is a stop at Sacramento’s The Backyard, Friday, August 30 . Tickets are available via Ticketmaster , Friday, May 3, at 10AM .

The nautical-suited and captain ’ s-hat-clad Yachtley Crew (also known as  “ The Titans of Soft Rock”), includes lead vocalist Phillip Daniel (Philly Ocean), drummer Rob Jones (Sailor Hawkins), bassist Chaz Ruiz (Baba Buoy), guitarist Thomas Gardner Jr. (Tommy Buoy), backing vocalist Curt Clendenin (Stoney Shores), saxophone/flutist Paul Pate (Pauly Shores) and keyboardist Matt Grossman (Matthew McDonald). 

For those uninitiated, Yacht Rock encapsulates the revival of soft rock and Top 40 hits from the late  ‘ 70s to the early  ‘ 80s, which has become a nation wide phenomenon, inspiring fans to dress the part and sing along.  Other songs on Seas the Day include fan favorites such as Boz Scaggs ’ “ Lido Shuffle,” Ace ’ s  “ How Long,” Robbie Dupree ’ s  “ Steal Away,” the Bee Gees ’ “ How Deep Is Your Love” and all-time Yacht Rock pioneer Christopher Cross ’ “ Ride Like the Wind.” Other songs in the band ’ s set include Toto ’ s  “ Africa,” Looking Glass ’ “ Brandy” and Rupert Holmes ’ “ Escape (The Piña Colada Song).”

Yachtley Crew have appeared on Andy Cohen’s  Watch What Happens Live , have helped ring in the New Year on KLAS and KTLA’s “Las Vegas Countdown to 2023” (the exclusive, Emmy-winning special syndicated program that reached reaches more than 16.5 million U.S. TV households), performed on countless morning television and radio shows throughout the country, have been featured on Fox News nationally and  performed on SiriusXM’s Yacht Rock Radio “Yacht Rock 311” show as the first ever Yacht Rock band to perform live at the station.  They have also performed at a cadre of charity and special events throughout the years including Mario Lopez Golf Classic Tournament in support of the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center.

The Epstein Family Amphitheater is located in the Pepper Canyon Neighborhood on the UC San Diego campus.

Take the Trolley: The amphitheater is located next to the Blue Line Trolley, UCSD Central Campus Station. For more information about the trolley, visit the MTS website >

From the North: Take I-5 south and exit La Jolla Village Drive. Use the right lanes to turn right onto La Jolla Village Drive and take the first right onto Villa La Jolla Drive.

From the South: Take I-5 north and exit La Jolla Village Drive. Use the left lanes to turn left onto La Jolla Village Drive and take the first right onto Villa La Jolla Drive.

The closest parking structure is Gilman Parking Structure. UC San Diego requires parking permits 7 days a week. Permits can be purchased at permit machines or through the Parkmobile App . Visit UC San Diego Transportation for information on where to buy your permit, and costs.

Accessible Seating

Wheelchair-accessible seating is available in all seating areas for patrons in wheelchairs and their companions.

You may bring in empty refillable water bottles, small personal bags (16” x 16 “ x 8”). All bags are subject to search by security officers. We encourage that you dress in layers and for those who have tickets to the General Lawn Section to wear shoes without heels.  

Additional prohibited items include: strollers, large backpacks, flags, tobacco products, alcohol, cans, bottles, ice chests, picnic baskets, lawn furniture, weapons of any kind, umbrellas, pets, hula hoops, musical instruments, laser pointers, bicycles, and skateboards.  Cameras with a detachable lens of any kind and professional recording devices are not allowed, including GoPros. Scooters, skateboards, roller skates, and other recreational wheeled equipment are not permitted at the Epstein Family Amphitheater. UC San Diego is a smoke-free campus.

For the safety and comfort of all, you may not bring lawn chairs or furniture. The lawn is quite steep and not safe for lawn chairs. You can bring in personal seat cushions, blankets, or seating,  as long as they fit your personal space and lie flat on the ground  (no legs, no hard structure). We encourage the same for the stone bench seating areas on both General Admission and reserved seating shows.

Food and drink will be available for purchase in the venue. Please note: Food vendors are cashless.
