Due to the natural shape of Charleston Harbor, most localized weather will remain well clear of the water. The effects of sea breeze and air pressure create a natural barrier against most storm development inside the harbor and promote a trend towards nicer conditions. 

When considering booking, please be mindful of the weather in the harbor specifically and not a generalized forecast of the surrounding areas, such as found in built-in weather apps on your mobile device. As harbor conditions differ greatly from conditions on land please look to marine weather forecasts instead. Generally put: the weather on the water tends to be clear.   

NOTE: Last-minute bookings based on improper forecasting may interfere with operations and cause unwanted delays. For any question concerning harbor conditions prior to, or at the time of booking, please call 843-557-7403.

Cancellation by Captain

In the event of a cancellation by the Captain of the vessel due to severe weather, environmental conditions, unforeseen prohibitive events, or mechanical failure, the sail will be rescheduled to a mutually agreeable date prior to December 31st of the current year at no additional charge. Severe weather is determined solely by the Captain of the vessel. If we cannot reschedule, a full refund will be given. We always show up to the boat regardless of the forecast that day, the weatherman is only correct 1% of the time. Just because it rains earlier in the day does not mean we will cancel your sail that afternoon or evening. If the captain determines the weather is unfit for a sail before you arrive they may call you to reschedule or refund.

Cancellation By Guest

In the event of cancellation by the charter guest once paid in full, if you cancel outside 7 days you will receive a full refund, within 7 days you will receive a 50% refund, no refund will be given if you cancel within 24 hours of departure.

Cancelations within 7 days of departure due to health reasons or national emergancies like Covid-19 will be given a gift card via email for the full chartered amount.

For regular 2-hour charters, you may book directly online through this site by utilizing the calendar on the upper right. Payment in full is collected at the time of booking.

For custom charters or extensions to charter times, please contact Captian Dustin by phone at 843-557-7403. A 50% deposit is required if booked more than 7 days in advance. Payment in full is required within 7 days. Most weekends book several months out, planning ahead is essential if you wish to charter a weekend.

Tours may include some element of risk. We - Charleston Sailing Charters, LLC. - assume no liability for injuries or loss of any kind.

Terms and Conditions

In consideration of any charter reservation, Charleston Sailing Charters LLC agrees to reserve the vessel FATE, Mystique or Kismet and to contract captain and crew.

Fees and Rescheduling

Charter fees are deemed earned upon placing a hold for desired date and time. Charterer's requests for rescheduling will be considered on a case by case basis.

Substance Abuse

The use of illegal substances is strictly forbidden on board the vessel. This includes underage use of alcohol or cigarettes. Non-compliance of this rule will result in the termination of the sail and no refund will be given.

Charterer understands and accepts that there is an inherent risk of personal injury or accident,"Risks", which may occur at marinas and aboard sailboats. Therefore, Charterer agrees to release and hold harmless Charleston Sailing Charters LLC, its members, crew and agents from all liability and responsibility for personal injury, property damage or wrongful death however caused, including, but not limited to, product defect or the negligence of the released parties.

Charterer has discussed the Risks with their invitees, and all invitees have agreed to release and hold harmless Charleston Sailing Charters LLC, its members, crew and agents in the same manner Charterer has in the above paragraphs. The foregoing notwithstanding, Charterer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Charleston Sailing Charters LLC, its owners, crew, and agents from any claims brought by Charterer's invitees.

If it is necessary to obtain medical treatment for the Charterer or its invitees, regardless of cause, such expenses shall be paid by the Charterer. Authority is granted without limitation to Charleston Sailing Charters LLC

Disputes shall be governed by Federal Maritime law. In any action against Charleston Sailing Charters LLC, Ashley Medaloni Adventures, or its members, agents, partners, employees, or servants which results in a decision/judgment/decree/order/ stipulation or settlement substantially upholding Charleston Sailing Charters LLC / Ashley Medaloni Adventures position, the adversary party shall reimburse Charleston Sailing Charters LLC attorney's fees, court costs and expenses.

Photography Release

From time to time photos of our guests are captured by our crew and given to the guests or posted on Facebook. I hereby grant Charleston Sailing Charters and Dustin K Ryan and his or her legal representatives and assigns, the irrevocable and unrestricted right to use and publish photographs of me, or in which I may be included, for editorial trade, advertising, and any other purpose and in any manner and medium; and to alter the same without restriction. I hereby release photographer and his or her legal representatives and assigns from all claims and liability relating to said photographs.

I have read and agree to above and sign this of my own free will and desire. It is my intention that paying for and showing up to the charter is legally binding signature.

• We provide coolers with ice, bottled water, and soft drinks.
• You may bring any food or alcohol, please no glass beer bottles. Glass wine and alcohol bottles are ok.
• All charters are with a USCG Licensed Master Captain and mate, certified CPR/first aid.
• Kismet is a certified Coast Guard Small Passenger Vessel and abides by all federal laws.
• Please arrive at the dock 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure in order to receive a mandatory orientation and safety briefing.
• You will be asked to remove your shoes. If the weather is cold please wear boat appropriate shoes with non-scuffing, white soles. High heels, boots, and any marking soles will not be allowed on board.
• Spray Sunscreens are not allowed on board any of our boats.
• Illegal drugs of any kind are not permitted including you folks from Colorado, Oregon etc.. Sorry, it's federal law.
• Smoking is not permitted on board any vessel.

Half of my group and I had a wonderful evening sail on Fate while the other half of my group had a lovely experience sailing Mystique. We had a friendly competition to see which boat and crew could sail the waters the quickest....I can't tell you who won as you'll want to experience each yourself ....(ahem, it was Fate, though valiant efforts by Mystique were made). Truly, the captain and first mate were wonderful to host us for our tour. 20/10 would recommend to any small group to take an evening sail. Looking forward to sharing this experience agian in the future. Thank you!

What a magical experience! We sailed on Mystique with Captain Dustin and First Mate Adam who made the trip even more fun and memorable. We are local and had family in town celebrating birthdays and I can’t think of a better way to experience Charleston. I just can’t believe we didn’t do this sooner. Highly recommend!

We sailed on Fate with Mark & Monique at sunset and had an amazing time! We were in Charleston for my bachelorette party & could not recommend a trip with Charleston Sailing Charters more, for any group! Mark & Monique were so friendly & made us feel safe (even when the winds changed wildly on us a few times), while sharing tons of info on Charleston sights, sailing in general, & even helped us to spot dolphins. We loved the smaller group size & lucked out by ending up with perfect weather. The highlight of the trip!

Captain Mark and mate Jack were fantastic. Some educational information with a smooth sailing experience. Parking was just on the right facing the harbor across from the gas station and was easy and affordable. Highly recommended and so much better than the bigger ships.

Nick and Tyler were just the best! We celebrated my friend's Bachelorette with an afternoon charter and although the weather was unseasonably cold and cloudy, we had just the BEST TIME! There were 5 of us and could definitely have fit more, but had such a special time as a small group! The drinks they provided on board was a nice touch but we spent most of the time drinking the beverages we brought! ;) The two of them were so accommodating, friendly, funny and genuinely a good time. I wish had booked longer than 2 hours! We will be sure to be booking again when we visit Charleston in the future! I highly recommend to everyone!!

Captain Dustin and First Mate Anson were happy to see us and give us the most amazing tour of Charleston from the most beautiful sailboat! We could not have asked for a more exciting, fun, and wonderful adventure on a sailboat. They are worth every penny and more . Incredibly smart with history and experience as sailors. The photography is stunning and memorable.

Phenomenal experience. 3 couples, 2 both celebrating 2 years of marriage, one incredible race (Wednesday nights during the summer) and a great sunset. Dustin and Evan are first class all the way. This is a must do in Charleston.

The Fate is a beautiful boat. Very spacious. Captain Glenn and 1st mate (Hanson) did an awesome job. Highly recommend this trip for anyone that wants a relaxing day on the water. Captain Glenn provided some informative bits of info about Charleston. Good time for all. We will be booking the Fate again in the future.

This was without a doubt the highlight of our trip! I booked an evening harbor cruise to propose to my girlfriend, and Dusty made the experience perfect. Catering from Caviar & Bananas was delicious and affordable, and seamlessly delivered to the boat before we boarded. Dusty was so personable and attentive, within 5 minutes it felt like we were just sailing with old friends. He helped facilitate the big mom but perfectly, taking excellent pictures and staging the scene just right. I can’t say enough- this is a great way to spend some time while in Charleston. We’ll definitely be back!

This is our fifth time sailing with Charleston Sailing Charters. We’ve been on both Fate and Mystique. This time we had a chance to sail with Kevin and Kathleen. Dustin and crew were great! I booked an afternoon cruise on Fate to propose to my girlfriend and Dustin's communication and preparedness made thinks work seamlessly. We had a great experience and Dustin was able to capture the big moment which we will hold onto forever.

This is a great thing to do if you are looking to see Charleston from more than a road or on foot. Captain Dustin will show you the sights and explain the history of the area, he will even explain his love of sailing and show you how to do different maneuvers with the boat. I was on his boat as the sun went down, and he threw on some Jack Johnson as the wind mellowed which gave it a surreal feeling and I didn't care how we were gonna make it back to the dock with no wind. :) True professionals and worth the money.

Ordering Tips

After booking your charter you should start planning what to bring.  Ordering from Caviar and Bananas is easy but its best to order sooner than later.  They have a busy delivery schedule so same day orders cannot be delivered and you’ll need to pick it up yourself on the way to the boat. We recommend placing your order at least 1 week prior to your charter departure if possible.

The Swell Charleston

The Swell offers the freshest fish obtainable in Charleston through its selection of local fishmongers. Fish is ordered, picked-up and prepared within 24 hours of consumption and produce is rotated seasonally and sourced from Carolina and Georgia farmers. Ordering from our menu can be done by contacting The Swell, by phone or email, up to three days prior to setting sail (within 72 hours incurs a $50 charge). If you’re looking to upgrade your day on the water ask them about having Chef come to the island for some live cooking.

Jeff Whitmore and Courtney Stredder have a combined 20+ years in hospitality and show up every day with the goal to nourish and educate people through seafood. Chef Jeff found his love for seafood while working on Nantucket and using that experience to open multiple restaurants in the New England area. While Sailing aboard Fate or Mystique be sure to ask about our exclusive selection of Medaloni Cellars wines. We usually have a mixed selection that change seasonally keeping bottles fresh.  Captain Joey Medaloni has created these fine wines at his very own vineyard in Yadkin Valley North Carolina, aptly called Medaloni Cellars . His acclaimed 20 acre vineyard not only produces wine but also hosts events, weddings and has many small cabins on the property to stay while touring the wine country.

On occasion we conduct a wine tasting onboard the motoryacht Kismet hosted by winemaker Joey Medaloni himself.  These highly sought after and exclusive catered events cruise the harbor while enjoying the flavors of the Yadkin Valley and the sights of the beautiful city of Charleston, a pairing that cant be beat!
