Yacht called Kaos vandalized by climate activists in Ibiza

By Emily Mae Czachor

July 17, 2023 / 4:00 PM EDT / CBS News

Spanish climate activists defaced a multimillion-dollar superyacht docked in Ibiza over the weekend, a social media video shows. The yacht, a sprawling vessel called Kaos, is reportedly owned by Nancy Walton Laurie, a billionaire Walmart heiress.

Activists from Futuro Vegetal , an environmental group that aims to fight climate change, shared a video on Twitter Sunday morning showing them standing in front of the Kaos yacht and holding a poster that reads, "You Consume Others Suffer." At least one portion of the boat's exterior, the one closest to land, is seen covered in a mixture of red and black spray paint.

Members of Futuro Vegetal pointed out that carbon emissions across the board are highest among the world's richest people.

"The richest 1% of the world population pollutes more than the poorest 50%," the activists are heard saying in the video.

"They are condemning us to a future of pain, misery and desolation," they continued. "They are destroying our planet, compromising the habitability of the land and everything, to lead a standard of living that goes beyond the limits of reason."

The two climate activists who appeared in Futuro Vegetal's social media video were detained on Sunday, according to the group, which said in an update shared on Twitter that the pair would likely be released on Monday afternoon.

No podemos seguir así, es una cuestión de vida o muerte. Escúchanos, comparte nuestro mensaje! According to  Yacht Bible , an industry news site that says it tracks yacht purchases and ownership globally, Kaos belongs to Laurie, the  granddaughter of Walmart cofounder  Bud Walton. Laurie inherited a stake in Walmart from her father and received enough stock in the company when he died in 1995 to make her a billionaire, according to Forbes. She took the 268th spot on the magazine's billionaires list in 2023, and her net worth is valued at around $8.7 billion, according to Forbes .

Grassroots climate activists, climate scientists and world leaders have for years been calling on the rich to reduce carbon emissions, as they point to the disproportionate greenhouse gas contributions from wealthy countries, like the United States, and individuals. In 2020, the United Nations urged the world's richest 1% to cut their carbon footprints by around 97% in order to stave off ongoing climate change.

Its report that year warned that the global emissions gap, meaning the "difference between where we are likely to be and where we need to be" on climate policy, was dangerously large, and the wealthy were primarily responsible. At the time, the U.N. report said just 10% of the world's population emitted nearly half of the world's carbon pollution.

futuro-vegetal.jpg

In a report published in September 2020, the Stockholm Environment Institute estimated that the richest 10% of people, globally, contributed to roughly 50% of worldwide carbon emissions in the years 1995 and 2015 — the timeframe in which the institute conducted its study. By comparison, the poorest 50% were responsible for 7% or 8% of emissions.

Citing portions of that study in its own report on greenhouse gases and climate change, the International Energy Agency noted that the world's richest 0.1% contribute more to global carbon emissions each year than the rest of the wealthiest 10% combined, with the richest 1% polluting roughly 1,000 times more than the poorest 1%. Another report by Oxfam last November suggested that just 125 of the world's wealthiest billionaires emit 3 million tons of carbon dioxide per person, on average, each year, which is about a million times higher than the average annual emissions of the bottom 90%.

CBS News reached out to Walmart and to Laurie but did not receive immediate replies.

Breaking news, climate activists blast paint on walmart heiress’ $300 million yacht in ibiza.

A group of climate change activists trashed a $300 million superyacht owned by billionaire Walmart heiress Nancy Walton Laurie on the Spanish island of Ibiza by blasting it with paint.

The Futuro Vegetal group, which translates to Future Vegetable, said on Twitter that two members used fire extinguishers filled with red and black paint to deface the “Kaos” superyacht Sunday morning.

Futuro Vegetal also uploaded pictures of two members standing in front of the luxury yacht with signs that read “You Consume Others Suffer.”

“The only reason we continue to maintain an economic system that leads us to eco-social collapse is to sustain the privileges of this small privileged class,” the group said in a statement about the vandalism. “The mega-rich live off the suffering of others.”

The Spanish Civil Guard said two people were arrested at the docks this morning over the incident, local Periodico de Ibiza reports.

Members of the Futuro Vegetal group were seen posing with a sign in front of the vandalized boat belonging to Walmart billionaire heiress Nancy Walton Laurie.

Sources told the Spanish newspaper that the yacht was actually scheduled to leave Ibiza on Sunday, with the spraypainting taking place just as the crew was preparing to depart.

The Futuro Vegetal group said they specifically targeted Laurie’s yacht as she is one of the wealthiest women in the world, with Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index pinging her net worth at $7.77 billion.

superyacht kaos vandalized

Laurie’s yacht made headlines in May with a series of features about the impressive 361-foot ship, which sports its own swimming pool, aquarium and helipad.

The superyacht also holds its own cinema, spa facilities, gym and even a small hospital for medical emergencies at sea.

The vandalism came following a call from the Extinction Rebellion Ibiza group, an activist organization demanding the ban of private jets and luxury yachts over emission concerns .

The yacht was targeted as part of a campaign targeting luxury ships and jets in Ibiza.

The group called on a campaign to specifically target such jets and yachts in Ibiza, with a private jet spray painted in a similar fashion by activists last week at Ibiza’s airport.

Futuro Vegetal said they were proud to have joined the campaign in Ibiza in order to raise awareness for their cause. The group touts itself as a civil disobedience and direct action group fighting against climate change .

The $300 million superyacht has its own swimming pool, aquarium, cinema and spa.

Representatives for Laurie did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

Two arrested following Kaos vandalism in Ibiza

Two people have been arrested after vandalising the 110-metre motor yacht Kaos while she was manoeuvring into port in Ibiza on 16 July.

A video shared by the organisation responsible for the stunt shows two individuals spraying red and black paint onto the yacht's stern while she was pulling into port, while a third member of the organisation filmed the incident.

Members of the deck crew were quick to act, deterring the activists with a waterhose and then hosing down the paint, which is understood to be biodegradable.

The local Policía Nacional has since arrested two individuals. According to the activist group, the pair were detained overnight in Ibiza and are due to be released today (17 July), following which they will be expected to appear in court.

Kaos departed the port after the incident and has since arrived in the bay of Palma, according to BOATPro data. The extent of the damage is not clear.

A spokesperson for Oceanco , which delivered Kaos as Jubilee in 2017, declined to comment on the incident.

“The mega-rich live off the suffering of others. It is the people who are at the top of the social pyramid who put all life on the planet at their service, forcing us to work to sustain their system, exploiting animals and destroying the territory no matter how much suffering and death it implies.”

Just two days before, the group had also sprayed a private jet with black and yellow paint.

Ms Laurie, the owner of the yacht, inherited a stake in Walmart in 1995 from her father, Bud Walton, who built the brand into the retail empire it is today with his brother.

According to Forbes, Ms Laurie is worth approximately $8.7bn.

Her yacht, “Kaos”, is worth $300m and is 361 feet long with four decks, accommodation for 31 guests and a 45-person crew.

Featuring full spa facilities, an aquarium and a cinema, there are also separate gyms for guests and crew and a small hospital for onboard emergencies.

Boat staff had to hose down a Walmart heiress' $300 million yacht after climate activists blasted red and black paint onto it with fire extinguishers

  • A $300 million superyacht owned by a billionaire heiress was doused in paint by activists on Sunday.
  • The two activists arrived as the yacht was leaving Ibiza and sprayed its stern in red and black.
  • Staff could be seen trying to hose away the paint while the activists held up a protest sign.

Two climate activists vandalized an American heiress' $300 million superyacht in Ibiza on Sunday, bathing the vessel's stern with red and black paint.

The pair used fire extinguishers to spray paint on the Kaos, a megayacht owned by the billionaire Walmart heiress Nancy Walton Laurie, then held up a sign that read: "You consume, others suffer."

The yacht appeared to be leaving port when the activists doused its rear, and boat staff could be seen immediately attempting to wash away the paint with hoses, according to footage tweeted by Futuro Vegetal, a Spanish organization lobbying for climate action.

"We can't go on like this, it's a matter of life and death," Futuro Vegetal tweeted .

Futuro Vegetal tweeted on Sunday that the activists targeted the Kaos because Walton Laurie was "one of the richest women in the world."

The two activists were detained and are expected to be released on Monday at noon, the organization said, without specifying what they were charged with.

Port authorities activated an interior maritime plan to assess whether the paint spilled into the water could be cause for concern, the local outlet Periodico de Ibiza reported .

Futuro Vegetal and the Walton Family Foundation did not immediately respond to requests for comment sent outside regular business hours.

The Kaos is a 361-foot luxury yacht owned by Walton Laurie, the youngest daughter of Walmart cofounder James "Bud Walton." She is worth more than $7.7 billion, per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index .

Her vessel, which flies under the Jamaican flag, has four decks and can accommodate 31 guests and 45 crew, per the yacht-enthusiast website Yacht Bible .

It hosts 16 guest cabins and at least 24 staff cabins as well as an elevator, a steam room, a gym, a cinema, and an indoor beach club.

It costs from $20 million to $30 million every year to keep the Kaos running, according to Yacht Bible.

On Friday, three activists from Futuro Vegetal also ran onto a runway of an airport in Ibiza to spray yellow paint on a private jet and disrupt airport operations .

July 18, 2023: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated one of the colors sprayed onto the Kaos. The vessel was sprayed with red and black paint, not red and white paint.

KAOS Super Yacht Hit By Climate Activists While Moored in Ibiza

' src=

KAOS Super Yacht: On Sunday, July 17, 2023, two climate activists from the Spanish group Futuro Vegetal spray-painted the superyacht KAOS, moored in Ibiza. Nancy Walton Laurie, the billionaire Walmart heiress, reportedly owns the yacht.

The climate activists sprayed the super yacht with red and black paint and held a sign that read: “You Consume Others Suffer.” They also posted a video of the protest on social media.

Futuro Vegetal is a Spanish climate activist group founded in 2019. The group’s name means “Future Vegetal” in Spanish, and it is a non-violent direct action group that uses protests, blockades, and other forms of civil disobedience to raise awareness about the climate crisis and demand action from governments and corporations.

Apart from their most recent action spray-painting the KAOS superyacht, the group are well-known for their disrupting blockade of the Spanish Parliament in 2020. The activists said that they targeted KAOS because it is a symbol of the excessive consumption and pollution that is causing climate change.

The activists also said they wanted to draw attention to the fact that the wealthiest 1% of the world’s population is responsible for more emissions than the poorest 50%.

Swift arrests by local authorities

The Spanish police quickly arrested the activists, but they were later released. Worryingly, Futuro Vegetal said they plan more protests against superyachts and other symbols of wealth and excess.

The spray painting of KAOS has sparked a debate about the role of climate activists and the ethics of property damage. Some people have criticised the activists for vandalising the yacht, while others have praised them for raising awareness about climate change.

It is important to note that, thankfully, the activists did not damage the yacht’s hull or engines; they used biodegradable paint in their attack that was easily removed. The spray-painted graffiti was quickly washed off, and the yacht was back to her former pristine condition and back in use within a few short hours of the incident.

How the yachting industry is reducing their environmental impact

The yachting industry has been facing increasing pressure to reduce its environmental impact. In response to this pressure, the yachting industry has already started to take steps to become more sustainable.

Some of the ways that the yachting industry is approaching climate change include:

superyacht kaos vandalized

2023 Round up from Yacht Informer

  • They are using more efficient engines and propulsion systems. Many yacht builders are now using more efficient engines and propulsion systems that can reduce fuel consumption and emissions. For example, some yachts are now equipped with hybrid or electric engines.
  • They are using alternative fuels. Some yacht builders are also exploring alternative fuels, such as methanol, solar power, and wind power. These fuels can help to reduce emissions and improve the environmental performance of yachts.
  • They are improving hull design. The design of a yacht’s hull can significantly impact its fuel efficiency. Yacht builders now use more efficient hull designs to reduce drag and improve fuel economy.
  • They are using sustainable materials. The materials used to build a yacht can also have an environmental impact. Some yacht builders are now using more sustainable materials, such as carbon fibre and recycled plastics. These materials can help to reduce the environmental impact of yacht construction.
  • Educating owners and operators. The yachting industry is also working to educate owners and operators about the environmental impact of their yachts. Many yacht clubs and associations now offer training programs on sustainable yachting practices.

The spray-painting of KAOS Super Yacht is a reminder of the growing tensions between climate activists and the wealthy elite. As climate change becomes more of a threat, we will likely see more protests from activist groups like this one.

A group of environmental activists in Spain vandalized a superyacht owned by a Walmart heiress.

Futuro Vegetal, an activist group based in Spain, sprayed paint on the massive yacht Kaos as it tried to leave port in Ibiza.

The group, which advocates for civil disobedience to confront the ongoing climate crisis, said they targeted the yacht because the owner is one of the wealthiest women in the world.

The boat’s owner, Nancy Walton Laurie, is the daughter of Bud Walton, who co-founded retail giant Walmart with his brother Sam Walton in 1962.

FuturoVegetal @FuturoVegetal WE ACT We spray paint using fire extinguishers against the 300 million euro mega-yacht of Nancy Walton, heiress to #Walmart and one of the richest women in the world with a fortune of 8.7 billion dollars

Laurie inherited a stake in the company from her father when he died in 1995, instantly making her a billionaire.

Forbes estimates her net worth is now around $8.7billion, making her currently the 254th wealthiest person in the world.

In a video posted by the group on Twitter, a group of activists use fire extinguishers to douse the stern of the boat with red and black paint.

Crew members on the Kaos can be seen immediately trying to wash the paint off with hoses as the boat quickly moves away from the docks.

The activists then unfurled a banner that read: ‘You consume, others suffer.’

The Kaos is a 361-foot superyacht that was purchased by Laurie in 2017.

It was originally built for Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, the former emir of Qatar. It was put up for sale after the monarch’s death in 2016.

It has cabin space able to fit 31 guests and 45 crew members, according to online yacht database YachtBible . The site estimates the ship costs about $30-40million per year to run.

The massive ship also has a full gym, a sauna with a steam room, a movie theater, an indoor beach club, and a small hospital. It employs a full crew to maintain the gym and spa onboard.

Futuro Vegetal was previously responsible for a similar stunt on Friday at Ibiza’s airport.

After breaking onto the airport’s runway, the activists then covered the windows of a private jet with black and yellow spray paint.

They then unfurled a banner that read: ‘Your luxury = our climate crisis.’

On Monday, Futuro Vegetal reported that the two activists responsible for the yacht painting were detained by the Guardia Civil for about 18 hours after getting arrested for vandalism.

‘As always, they had very little plant-based food and the activists have been able to eat very little,’ the group said on Twitter.

They also claimed the detained activists were handcuffed the entire time, and were refused water from 9.00am to 2.00pm during their detainment.

An environmental group, Futuro Vegetal, claimed responsibility for the act and said they were protesting the “eco-social collapse” caused by the mega-rich

A group of Spanish environmental activists spray-painted a yacht in Ibiza on Sunday that reportedly belongs to Nancy Walton Laurie, the billionaire heiress of Walmart.

Activists from a group called Futuro Vegetal group posted photos on Twitter showing protestors standing in front of the mega-yacht named “Kaos,” holding a banner that says: “You Consume, Others Suffer.” The vessel was sprayed with red and black paint from fire extinguishers.

The caption of the post, translated to English, said, “We spray paint using fire extinguishers against the 300 million euro mega-yacht of Nancy Walton, heiress to #Walmart and one of the richest women in the world with a fortune of 8.7 billion dollars 🧯”

According to Forbes , Laurie — who inherited a stake in the Walmart chain from her father James Lawrence "Bud" Walton in 1995 — is worth around $8 billion. The 361-foot luxury yacht is worth $300 million and contains a movie theater and spa facilities, Insider reported. Numerous yachting trade publications cite the one-of-a-kind ship as belonging to Laurie.

The activists also posted video of the vandalism occurring on Twitter . In the clip, crew members on board at the time can be seen running across the deck and unsuccessfully trying to hose off the paint.

"The richest 1 percent of the world population pollutes more than the poorest 50 percent, They are condemning us to a future of pain, misery and desolation," they say in the footage, translated from Spanish.

In an Instagram post, they wrote that the destruction “puts the finishing touch to the campaign — which they called “Jets and Yachts, the party is over” — and tagged the Extinction Rebellion Ibiza page.

“The only reason we continue to maintain an economic system that leads to eco-social collapse is to sustain the privileges of this small privileged class,” they continued in the caption. “The mega-rich live on the suffering of others. It is the people at the top of the social pyramid who put all life on the planet at their service, forcing us to work to sustain their system, exploiting animals and destroying territory no matter how much suffering and death it entails 💀.”

The two protesters in the photos were detained on Sunday morning and expected to be released on Monday, the group said.

The activists spray painted a private jet at Ibiza’s airport on Friday, CNN reported.

On the Futuro Vegetal website , the group says they aim “to change the ethics of abundance, the way of producing and consuming, focusing on food security and land redistribution. The fight against the Climate Crisis has to be the number one priority.”

Walmart Heiress Nancy Walton Laurie’s $330m Kaos Superyacht Vandalised In Ibiza

It's a bad time to be a billionaire's superyacht.

Superyacht Kaos

Climate activists targeted a USD 330 million superyacht of Walmart heiress Nancy Walton Laurie in Ibiza, Spain, to register their protest against carbon emissions for luxury lifestyles.

From Jeff Bezos $700m behemoth hiding dark and bloody secrets to the ill-fated Honolulu that was burned to a crisp , it’s a hard time to be a billionaire’s superyacht.

The Climate Protest On Kaos

The 361-foot vessel, Kaos , was docked in the popular Mediterranean resort island when two activists from a Spanish organization, Futuro Vegetal , approached the superyacht and sprayed its stern with red and black paint using fire extinguishers last year. A video shared on social media by the organization shows that the ship’s crew quickly attempted to undo the damage of the paint by pouring water on it.

After the vandalism, the activists displayed a sign that stated, “You Consume, Others Suffer,” criticizing capitalism.

Futuro Vegetal asserts that carbon emissions are unacceptably high among the world’s wealthiest individuals.

The group posted on X (formerly Twitter):

“We cannot continue like this; it is a matter of life or death. Listen to us, share our message!”

A second post noted, “The only reason we continue to maintain an economic system that leads us to eco-social collapse is to sustain the privileges of this small privileged class. The mega-rich live off the suffering of others.”

The group also confirmed that the authorities arrested the activists and would be appearing in court on Monday.

Climate protestors in the USA

This incident is part of a growing pattern where climate protests target the luxury assets of the ultra-rich.

Just two days earlier, members of Futuro Vegetal had sprayed yellow paint on a private jet at an Ibiza airport.

Similar protests were conducted in northern Germany in June by the German climate activist organization Last Generation .

They spray-painted a private jet orange and held signs that said “Your Luxury = Our Drought” and “Your Luxury = Our Crop Failures.”

Walmart Heiress Nancy Walton Laurie

The owner of the vandalized superyacht Kaos , Nancy Walton Laurie is a billionaire heiress to the Walmart.

Being the youngest daughter of Walmart co-founder James “Bud” Walton, she inherited her father’s share in the company upon his death in 1995.

Walton Laurie is ranked 268th on Forbes ‘ list of 2023 billionaires, with an estimated net worth of $8.7 billion.

Previously known as Al Menwar during its ownership by the Qatari royal family, the Kaos now stands as a symbol of extreme wealth but is a target for those protesting inequality and environmental impact.

Walton Laurie bought the superyacht in 2019, which underwent a complete renovation in 2020 by Luerssen in Hamburg, Germany.

The Walmart heiress also owns another superyacht named “Secret,” per Robbreport .

Kaos: A Floating Palace of Luxury

Just like Serene , a $400 million superyacht owned by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, and Koru , a $500 million vessel owned by the Amazon billionaire, the Kaos is a marvel of engineering.

According to the Yacht Bible, the yacht has four decks that can hold 31 guests and a crew of 45. Its other features include a swimming pool, aquarium, big screen theatre, sauna, complete spa services, helipad, jacuzzi, and space for a smaller boat.

The vessel’s yearly operational costs are estimated to be between $20 million and $30 million USD.

110-meter Superyacht Kaos Vandalized in Ibiza

M/y kaos , a 110-meter oceanco, was vandalized on sunday in ibiza..

Protestors from the Futuro Vegetal (Vegetable Future) group vandalized M/Y Kaos with paint on Sunday, July 17 in Ibiza, Spain.

After using fire extinguishers to spray paint across the vessel, the protestors held a sign that read, “You Consume Others Suffer.” M/Y Kaos is owned by Nancy Walton Laurie, the daughter of Walmart co-founder James Walton.

Futuro Vegetal is, “a collective of civil disobedience and direct action that fights against the Climate Crisis by adopting a plant-based agri-food system,” according to their website . The group later confirmed that two of their climate activists were the paint sprayers on their Twitter account .

The two activists were arrested after the act, according to Daily Mail . The Futuro Vegetal Twitter account later tweeted that they expect the two activists to be released on Monday at noon.

This wasn’t the first pricey mode of transportation that Futuro Vegetal painted with fire extinguishers. The group sprayed yellow paint on a private jet at the Ibiza airport just days prior to doing the same to M/Y Kaos .

Kaos vandalised again

Protestors have once again covered the vessel in paint, this time whilst it was docked in barcelona….

Climate activists have vandalised Kaos for the second time earlier today, this time whilst it was docked in the port of Barcelona. Two members of Extinction Rebellion and Scientific Rebellion breached marina security and sprayed the 110m Oceanco vessel in red paint, then stood alongside the yacht holding signs that read ‘Billionaires should not exist’.

🛳Según han explicado a El Salto, con esta protesta los activistas quieren visibilizar y denunciar la responsabilidad que los multimillonarios tienen sobre la crisis climática. Vídeo y texto @MarSala___ https://t.co/v6zTF5EDeM pic.twitter.com/UeV0Sau4Yz — El Salto (@ElSaltoDiario) September 8, 2023

The protestors told Spanish publication El Salto, that they wanted to visibly denounce the “responsibility that billionaires have for the climate crisis”. The yacht is owned by Walmart heiress Nancy Walton Laurie, one of the wealthiest women in the world, with Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index putting her net worth at $7.77bn.

“This year we have experienced the highest temperatures in the history of humanity and instead of reducing emissions, we continue to emit billions of tons of CO2,” says one of the activists. “We must decrease and reduce emissions drastically and we are not going to ask it of the people who have the least. We have to take away the social license of that 1% of the population to pollute whatever they want simply because they have money and power.”

Kaos (formerly known as Jubilee), was previously defaced in red and black paint by two climate activists using fire extinguishers in Ibiza. At the time, the Futuro Vegetal protestors were seen holding up a sign reading ‘You Consume Others Suffer’ as crew on board attempted to wash the paint off with water.

The colorful and noisy ‘Kaos’ within us all

The colorful and noisy ‘Kaos’ within us all

“A line appears, the order wanes, the Family falls and Kaos reigns.” This prophecy runs through all eight episodes of Netflix’s “Kaos,” a British dark comedy that has been topping viewers’ preferences for the past three weeks and prompting to end of commentary.

At the heart of the story lies a smorgasbord of Olympian gods and tales from Greek mythology; the era could easily be contemporary or even some time in the future.

Zeus (Jeff Goldblum’s portrayal of the top god has received rave reviews) resides on Olympus in an opulent mansion – with the personal style to match – alongside his spiteful yet elegant wife Hera (Janet McTeer). Hera is the stepmother of Dionysus (Nabhaan Rizwan), having turned his mother, Zeus’ lover, into a bee. Dionysus is a wealthy fashionista with a heart of gold and a genuine concern for humanity.

Poseidon (Cliff Curtis) lives on a yacht and is having an affair with Hera behind Zeus’ back. Prometheus (Stephen Dillane), having killed his lover to appease the gods, is punished in the traditional manner, eternally suffering from his ravaged liver, while Zeus continuously calls him for advice. Meanwhile, in Iraklio, Crete (in fact, filming took place in Spain), there is another kingdom ruled by the dictator Minos (Stanley Townsend), whose daughter Ari (Ariadne, played by Leila Farzad) is deeply troubled by the accidental killing of her twin brother, Glaucus, during childbirth.

The Furies are portrayed as bikers, the Fates are trans and Hades and Persephone, rulers of the Underworld are a well-bred middle-class couple in. successful marriage.

The series features superhero antics with clever modern adaptations but also cliched jokes and a lot of cynicism, sometimes resembling a finely tuned farce and at others a mere barrage of stereotypes. Created and also written by non-binary screenwriter Charlie Covell, the series explores the Olympians as a dysfunctional family leading to chaos, mirroring or subverting the prophecy.

We won’t take sides or declare a preference. Sometimes the rapid fire of overlapping storylines and characters diminishes the initial impact.

Instead of discussing likes and dislikes, let us, instead, ponder what remains after around eight hours, whether one enjoys, admires, or criticizes the show? Is there a trace of something memorable that endures through mental, emotional or other processes?

Series, seasons and episodes feed the platforms, but do they also enrich our lives or merely quiet them? Do they alleviate anxiety, provide temporary solutions and guide us to the next “discovery”? Does the triumph of platforms during the Covid-19 lockdowns (and their largely therapeutic role) remain a habit born of necessity or inertia? Is answering this question important? Perhaps only minimally. Because colorful and noisy “kaos” is everywhere, and we are its fragments – whether observing it from the safety of the couch or actively participating in it.
