We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved so far and, as we are now into our 49th year in business, we are happy to say that Pinmar is going from strength to strength.
Pinmar was founded in Mallorca, Spain in 1975 as a specialist yacht painting company focused on the new breed of superyachts over 40m. In 2012, Pinmar merged with its main local competitor Rolling Stock to form the Global Yachting Group, since renamed to GYG Ltd, which has grown to become one of the largest and most comprehensive service groups in the superyacht industry.
As part of GYG, Pinmar group companies include Pinmar Yacht Supply , our yacht chandlery and supply network, along with Technocraft , our in-house yacht scaffolding, containment and hardware removal business.
We’re also very proud to have developed the Pinmar Paint Standard , our industry's first comprehensive statement of how a client's expected paint finish should be measured and agreed. We continue to refine this Standard with the introduction of new products and application technologies.
We’ve refinished 100s of the world’s finest yachts and increasingly we’re involved in finishing some of the largest and most prestigious New Builds in many of the leading superyacht building yards.
During its 48-year history, Pinmar has expanded its operations across Europe including offices in Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona and La Ciotat, and established US operations with bases at Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Savannah, Georgia, as well as establishing partnerships with the largest New Build shipyards.
As the size and complexity of new superyachts continues to increase, Pinmar has also increased its capabilities, with the average yacht size for projects increasing from 55 metres to nearly 80 metres since 2012.
Today, Pinmar is recognised as the market leading brand in superyacht painting with a proven record of premium quality. This does not mean we rest on our laurels; we are totally committed to improving both quality and efficiency through continual innovation to meet the challenges of our evolving industry.
Research & Development
Pinmar has played a key role in recent years in driving the adoption of the latest technologies and application methods within the industry. Our equipment is developed to accommodate advancing technology whilst always being conscious of the environment.
Our pioneering adoption of electrostatic paint application in the European superyacht industry, recently introduced into the US superyacht Refit market as well , and a collaborative research project trialling the application methodology for a new spray filler product are good case points.
We are invested in sharing technologies across all our locations that yield a positive impact for the shipyards, the clients, the environment and better overall long-term performance for the yacht owners.
KEY PERSONNEL
Remy millott - chief executive officer.
Remy has over 40 years of yachting industry experience having commenced his offshore career in 1982, becoming one of the industry’s youngest yacht Captains at the time. He joined Pinmar in 1996 and became Managing Director in 2003, growing the company extensively. He has led several acquisitions and mergers at Pinmar since then, including the formation of GYG in 2012. As Group CEO he successfully listed GYG plc on the London AIM Stock Market in 2017 and continues in this role since taking the company private as GYG Ltd in 2022.
Rupert Savage - CCO/Director
Rupert was a highly respected yacht captain for over 16 years and is still a keen racing yachtsman. He moved ashore and joined Rolling Stock in 2006 where he became Managing Director and was instrumental in the development and growth of the business into a leading player in the yacht painting and service sector. Rupert has been responsible for the integration of the various Group companies, running the business on a day to day basis. He is now focused on the Group's commercial development and continues to be influential in the strategic growth of the business.
Ada Cañellas - Corporate Legal & HR Director
Ada has a Degree in Law from the University of Navarra, MBA from IESE and a Masters in human resources management. She began her career as a recruitment consultant and for the last 15 years she has directed Human Resources and Legal departments in technology, service, and food-based companies. A multi-disciplinary professional with knowledge of all areas of Human Resources with special attention to personal development and personnel administration, including her extensive experience in Spanish and European labour law.
Peter Brown - Director
Peter has been involved in the Superyacht industry for over 40 years, having had a successful career at sea, including as a yacht captain, for over 16 years. He joined Pinmar in 1998 to develop the Barcelona facility and later became the General Manager of Pinmar. Peter headed up the expansion of Pinmar into the New Build sector in Germany in 2005, after which he took over Pinmar's USA operations as Managing Director. As Peter continues to run the US business and its expansion, he also supports the Group and the CEO on special projects using his deep experience of the yachting industry.
Alexander Swain - President, North America
Alex brings more than 30 years of global business development and production management experience to Pinmar and is most recognised in the marine industry for his previous roles at MB92 Barcelona and more recently at Jotun’s global yachting division. During his 12 years in senior management at MB92, Alex was instrumental in delivering rapid, sustainable business growth while achieving customer quality expectations, and was part of the original team who formed the ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group. His specialist role at Jotun focused on the development of their global yachting division, including roll-out strategies in emerging markets such as the US and Asia. Alex will be responsible for Pinmar’s business operations in the USA and will provide greater synergy between our US and European operations. Alex will be sharing his time between Pinmar’s main USA bases at Rybovich West Palm Beach, Derecktors Fort Lauderdale and Savannah Yacht Centre as he looks to expand the company’s turnkey services with its existing partners and across the American superyacht market.
Manu Ayme - Sales Director
Manu Ayme joined Rolling Stock in 2006 in a logistical support role during the construction of two new builds in the South of Spain. After that he followed the business around Europe with extensive spells in Pendennis, Cartagena and Viareggio to eventually join up with the team at the Palma de Mallorca headquarters in the summer of 2008. During his time in Palma he held a number of management positions within the company, and after the merger with Pinmar in 2012 to create GYG he was co-heading the Groups’ global production division. His vast 'hands on' technical experience and management skills led to his latest role of Sales Director, where he applies his knowledge to perfectly understand our clients’ needs and can fulfil their expectations.
James Millott - Production Director
James began his career with Pinmar in 2006 in northern Germany. Starting out in logistics and quality control, he worked his way up to project manager and quickly showed a high level of technical understanding. Based in Germany for 9 years, James became the senior project manager for the company’s Northern European business, successfully completing many of the industry’s largest and most iconic new builds. In 2015, James became the joint head of production of GYG which is the parent company of Pinmar; he now splits his time between the company’s headquarters in Mallorca and overseas projects including the USA. Still heavily involved in every aspect of the Group’s production and quality control, James is working on the Group’s technical development in order to improve quality and efficiency. Built up over many years, James has vast technical and practical knowledge of the coatings business as well as working with very large teams on multiple projects in different locations which has been key in the Group’s international growth.

The Superyacht Chandler Based in Spain, Pinmar Yacht Supply provides a complete selection of marine supplies to both trade professionals and to yacht owners and their crew direct.
We have three chandlery shops based around the key marinas in Palma and Barcelona, a network of official retail partners across Europe, and a Superyacht Supply Team that manages our clients’ needs whilst they are based in other locations around the world or cruising on charter.
As distributors of many of the marine industry’s biggest brands, Pinmar Yacht Supply sells a wide range of products and has the product knowledge and know-how to really assist its clients in buying and applying the right products for the job. We also have a team of experts that can source spare parts or special requirements such as safety equipment or water sport toys, with a database of over 4000 suppliers and a shore support service team who know the local landscape and where items can be located quickly.
Retail Stores If you are in Palma you can find our shops in two locations; inside STP Shipyard at the Global Building and at Cami Escollera 5, and in Barcelona within the MB92 shipyard. Our staff understand the products we sell and are happy to provide you with expert advice and information or even organise product training to get the best results. We have a fleet of mobile vans that make regular stops around all the key locations and can bring your order right to the dockside.

A Small Island in the Med Happens to be an Aladdin’s Cave of Marine Parts!

Given the relatively small size of Mallorca and the fact that everything must come by air or sea, I have always been amazed at the enormous supply of all things yachting that are available here. I have spent a lot of time in many marinas across the planet where parts are almost impossible to come by. My time in Montenegro for example was spent flying backwards and forwards to the UK with a large duffel bag full of smuggled marine contraband! I was greatly relieved the first time we made landfall in Mallorca to be greeted by its plethora of well stocked marine outlets; one even had free beer!
‘Yacht Centre Palma’ was one of the first chandleries that I chanced across when arriving on the island. Not only was I astonished by their stock but also by the level of expertise of their staff, and their willingness to source obscure parts for a twenty yard Swan 68 was unreal.
Of course, a lot of this derives from the high level of competition that exists on the island. If one shop cannot help, you know the next one is all but a stone’s through away. When I started Berthon Spain (formerly Sentinel) I used a road bike to wiz between the stores, as having formerly been a captain here I knew all the best places to find things.
‘Mercanautic’ in Palma and Port Adriano in our opinion is one of the best. Their staff all have marine backgrounds, so when you come in holding a gromit from a yacht that was built in the 1900’s, by a shipyard that went bust after 2 years they can probably still find it for you.
Berthon also regularly use ‘Marine Point’ which is located inland on Can Valero and is a complete tardis of a building. It could only be described as a marine superstore with an army of multilingual staff falling over themselves to help you. What they don’t have they seem to be able to source in a matter of days from the mainland or often Italy.
Palma has around six marine supply stores, each with their own specialities, and Berthon Spain work regularly with all of them. Whilst we have our own in-house team who procure parts, the local stores are still very valuable to us, especially when time is tight!

FLEXIMA MATTRESSES
Yacht Center Palma offers you the best boat Matresses Brand: FLEXIMA.
Yacht mattresses are generally installed with a 6 mm thick air mesh on the bottom side of the fabric cover. Where the mattress rests with its open cavities against the ship’s side, this mesh is continued upwards to the zipper for better ventilation! Since the slatted frame is already integrated in the cold foam through the spring elements made of plastic, the Flexima can be placed directly on a closed surface (wood, fibreglass). Nevertheless, you can enjoy great spring comfort, and humidity (heat) will be pumped out of the side of the mattress with each movement. Even if a Flexima has become truly wet due to high humidity, it will dry quickly thanks to the perfect ventilation system.

SPW PROPELLERS

When the engine is turned off, the waterflow rotates the blades automatically into the feathered position.
Benefits: Drag is almost eliminated and speed increases 15% to 20%, depending on wind conditions. Propeller turbulence vanishes and a substantially enhanced rudder effect is achieved.
When shifting into reverse, less than one shaft rotation turns the leading edge of the blades 180 degrees.
Benefits: Efficiency (thrust) in reverse is equal to forward, 30% – 40% more than all fixed propellers. You get improved stopping power; however, this also increases “Prop Walk” (paddle wheel effect). In case of varying step-down gears (i.e. Yanmar Shafts) the pitches in foward and reverse are optimal set by factory.

Benefits: Custom fine tuning (in micrometer-small increments) of reverse thrust vs. prop-walk. (For most owners, eliminating prop walk is more important than maximizing reverse thrust.)
