The Yacht Club Offers Waterfront Dining in Edgewater

yacht club entrance

A new seafood restaurant and bar is open in Edgewater, offering casual dining in a relaxing atmosphere. It’s hard to miss The Yacht Club along the Edgewater Commons Shopping Center pier, with its white lighthouse-shaped façade. In terms of location, locals will recall the space previously housing Joe’s Crab Shack.

However, the 13,000-square foot interior is now totally different. It seats 120 in the main dining room; which boasts olive green walls, Greece-imported gold accented furniture, and floor-to-ceiling windows. In addition, the dining room overlooks a deck with water views from all sides. Meanwhile, the private upstairs dining room at The Yacht Club seats 150. Finally, their marble bar can seat another 20, while their lounge with a view seats yet another 30.

The Yacht Club is All About Dinner With a View

But we haven’t even gotten to the outdoor deck yet; this section seats 60 – rain or shine — and offers views of both the Hudson River and Manhattan. “The outdoor setting was designed to resemble a waterfront bar in Europe, from the island-chic light fixtures to the sliding floor to ceiling doors which easily open and close weather permitting,” says The Yacht Club Owner Eliana Stefanitsis; her family also runs the Hudson River Group, which owns Molos in Weehawken .

Like many other businesses, COVID-19 caused a delay in operation. Eliana’s original plan was to open The Yacht Club in April, but wound up waiting until August instead. “We aren’t taking reservations because we want to encourage people to come eat, enjoy the space, and not have to plan in advance,” she says. Likewise, their plan is to accommodate both “people who want to hang out at the bar and enjoy a craft cocktail or families who want to go out to eat.”

Seafood by the Sea

The Yacht Club serves American seafood dishes, courtesy of Executive Chef Gregory Zapantis. (Fans of the Hudson River Group will recognize that name from Molos.) To further diversify the menu, the restaurant also employs Sushi Chef Steve Song (previously from Masa in New York City).

As for their signature dishes, The Yacht Club specializes in lobster. With this in mind, it’s no surprise that lobster rolls and the lobster BLT sandwich are big hits. Of course, you can also find salads, tacos, and burgers on the menu. Meanwhile, the full bar menu includes frozen drinks. Their signature cocktail is the Grapefruit Botanical Spritz, with Ketel One grapefruit juice, Aperol liqueur, and club soda.

They also offer gluten-free items such as wild salmon and skirt steak. Eliana points out that vegetarian items are limited for the moment, but they plan to expand on this soon. For now, they can accommodate vegetarian meals by request.

You can visit The Yacht Club at 541 River Rd in Edgewater. For hours, their full menu, and other details, search for The Yacht Club online.

For appetizers, patrons can start with a classic Cesar, frisée calamari {frisée, cremini & shiitake mushrooms}, lobster bisque soup, New England clam chowder, popcorn shrimp, or crab cake.

For something light that still packs a punch, opt for the tacos, either the shrimp taco, snapper taco, or shredded chicken taco.

For something more filling, the restaurant offers a crab cake burger, fried filet of sole sandwich, lobster claw BLT, and a beef burger. The tender “Famous Lobster Roll” is a must-try on the menu {beer-battered cod with fries and coleslaw}. Pasta lovers, fret not, linguine with clams is available and the clams are cooked just right.

What would a seafood restaurant be without delicious seafood dishes? Grilled branzino, grilled salmon, sea bream, sea scallops, and fried shrimp are just some of the options. For meat lovers, a skirt steak is on hand.

Any of the sides would pair well with one of the entrees, including the creamy lobster mac and cheese, corn on the cob, sea salt fries, sweet potato fries, and homemade coleslaw.

For the last course, what is savory without a little sweet? Chocolate cake, New York strawberry cheesecake {of course}, creme brulee, assorted ice creams, and sorbets are all options to end your meal on a gratifying note.

The Yacht Club, casual seafood restaurant with stunning skyline views, to open in Edgewater

Portrait of Rebecca King

At the new Yacht Club in Edgewater, you could almost imagine you’re at a picturesque lighthouse in Maine or Nantucket, if it weren’t for the sweeping view of Manhattan just across the water.

The relaxed seafood restaurant — the façade is a stout, white lighthouse — is set to open in the former Joe’s Crab Shack location on Aug. 26. It’s owned by Eliana Stefanitsis, whose family runs the Hudson River Restaurant Group that owns Molos in Weehawken.

“The Yacht Club has more casual, American seafood, as opposed to Molos which serves Mediterranean fine dining,” said Stefanitsis.

On the menu are Maine and Connecticut lobster rolls (the kind with mayo and the kind with butter, respectively), Maryland crab cakes, popcorn shrimp, lobster claw BLTs, oysters and sushi.

For drinks, the outside bar serves up wine by the glass and bottle, beer, cider, mocktails and smoothies.

Executive Chef Gregory Zapantis – a Greek chef who also worked at Molos – will oversee the kitchen. He was inducted into the Hellenic Chef’s Club for Greek chefs in 2011 and was the club’s first culinary ambassador to Greece in North America.

Dining: These 8 restaurants have North Jersey's most stunning outdoor dining areas

The Yacht Club also brought on Steve Song as the sushi chef. A graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education, he has worked at Masa, ABC Kitchen, DOMODOMO (all in NYC) and Sheli’s in the Square in Monsey.

“It’s an American place, but we’re trying to cultivate all different areas of seafood, which is why we specifically wanted a sushi chef” said Stefanitsis.

The 13,000-square-foot space seats 120 in the main dining room, 150 in the private upstairs dining room, 20 people at the bar, 30 people in the lounge, and 60 on the outdoor deck.

Right now, because of the ban on indoor dining, only the latter is open. But even if indoor dining were allowed, you’d probably want to sit on the deck, which opens up to the Hudson and to views of Manhattan.

Indoors, the design indoors features a wide marble bar, floor-to-ceiling windows in the main dining room, olive green walls and gold accented furniture imported from Greece.

Stefanitsis hopes to make guests feel like they are at a breezy, modern resort when dining at The Yacht Club.

The Yacht Club is located at 541 River Road, Edgewater.

There’s A New Waterfront Seafood Restaurant That Just Opened In New Jersey And You’ll Want To Check It Out

The Yacht Club in Edgewater offers a luxurious dining experience with waterfront views and a diverse menu.

Written by

Are you a member of a private club? New Jersey has golf clubs, tennis clubs, racquetball clubs, country clubs, dining clubs, and boat clubs, but many are fairly exclusive. Some are open to all with a hefty (or reasonable) membership fee. Of course, there are a few that anyone can enjoy! One example is The Yacht Club in Edgewater. It's a restaurant, not technically a club, but it sure FEELS fancy. With delicious food and waterfront views, it doesn't disappoint.

Address: 541 River Road, Edgewater, New Jersey, 07020

The charming restaurant and oyster bar has a lighthouse-inspired exterior...

alt

An elegant, modern interior with a marble bar, furniture imported from Greece, and walls of floor to ceiling windows for prime views from any seat...

alt

AND a picturesque patio. The relaxed outdoor dining area can accommodate 60 guests, rain or shine.

alt

Here's what you need to know! The 13,000-square-foot space gives off some serious vacation vibes. Located on the pier of the Edgewater Commons Shopping Center, this eatery is brought to you by The Hudson River Hospitality Group, owners of Molos in Weehawken. Executive chef Gregory Zapantis is a culinary ambassador for Greek cuisine and has been a member of the prestigious Hellenic Chef's Club since 2011.

Sushi Chef Steve Song apprenticed under Chef Masa Takayama at Masa in NYC. Masa is one of New York's most expensive, and most exquisite, sushi restaurants. It is a 3-star Michelin eatery with exceptional cuisine. These talented chefs come together to create a menu of popular American seafood dishes including Maine and Connecticut Lobster Rolls, Maryland Crab Cakes, a Lobster Claw BLT, Popcorn Shrimp, and hand-rolled sushi made to order.  There will also be a dedicated oyster shucking area at the bar.

Though I have not been able to dine here yet (it just opened this week), delectable menu items that appeal to me include shrimp tacos, linguine with clam sauce, lobster mac n' cheese, skirt steak with sweet potato fries, and the grass-fed beef burger with aged cheddar. At the bar, you'll find sangria and specialty cocktails, flavored martinis, cider, draft beer, and wine. Everything is surprisingly affordable! Learn more and find their menu here . Step Into A Seaside Paradise At This Cozy And Enchanting Cafe In New Jersey

Easily the most unique Jersey Shore restaurant, Elaine's in Cape May is a place to do much more than just grab a bite.

Cape May is one of my favorite towns along the Jersey Shore - even if you have to go all the way south to reach it! There's just something magical about this little slice of heaven on the tail-end of New Jersey. It doesn't feel like a big, over-the-top boardwalk town, instead celebrating the beautiful nature all around us and the small businesses that make it what it is - and one of those small businesses might just be the most unique Jersey Shore restaurant. Elaine's Cape May is a longtime town institution, formerly known as the quirkiest dinner theater in the Garden State. While the dinner theater is no more, what's sprung up in its place is no less fascinating and unique. Come with us to discover the restaurant and getaway all of Cape May is talking about!

alt

The visage of Elaine's in Cape May is a famous sight, but it's doing something very different these days. The old-school dinner theater is now an acclaimed small hotel, shopping boutique, and on-site restaurant and patio bar. There's a little something for everyone here.

alt

The dining is at the heart of the place now, with an indoor pub and restaurant as well as a sprawling outdoor patio with a bar. When the weather is still nice, as it is in early fall, you can have an absolutely perfect night out here. The patio is also where events like live music and paint-and-sip parties take place.

alt

The most popular meal of the week is brunch, when Elaine's goes all out to elevate diner breakfast classics with a flair worthy of an iconic spot like this one.

alt

For lunch and dinner, the menu becomes much more varied - if one member of the party wants classics like burgers and soft pretzels, and another wants elevated poke towers or fresh seafood, you're all covered!

alt

And of course, it wouldn't be beachside bliss if the drinks weren't just as worthy of attention as the food. Elaine's has one of the best Bloody Marys in the state, and the mixologists here are always coming up with exciting specials.

alt

Yes, there certainly is a lot to do at this unique restaurant turned beach-town resort - maybe too much for one evening. The good news is, you don't have to leave! You can book a stay in the elegant rooms offered here and wake up to have breakfast and begin a day of shopping.

Have you visited Elaine's in Cape May before? What do you think of the new lease on life for this unique Jersey Shore restaurant? Let us know in the comments section! You can find out more about all the offerings here on the Elaine's Cape May website, and the Elaine's Cape May Facebook page is a great place to keep tabs on all upcoming events. If you're planning a visit to Cape May, go ahead and check out my previous coverage on why Cape May is an amazing destination for solo travelers . And if you're looking for a place to stay...well, you don't have to go far! Go ahead and book a night at Elaine's and check out the other side of the business!

The Hidden Gem Seafood Spot In New Jersey, Keyport Fishery, Has Out-Of-This-World Food

Keyport Fishery in Keyport, New Jersey, is a renowned fish market and takeout spot known for its exceptional fried seafood.

The Jersey Shore is known as a haven for great fish and seafood restaurants - how could it not be? Only feet from the ocean, the area is full of fishermen who make their living dragging in the latest catch. However, to find the best fried seafood in New Jersey, you'll want to go where the fishermen go. Keyport Fishery, an old-school fish market in Keyport that has been serving the community for decades, is a surprising gem dishing out what might be the best fried seafood in New Jersey. This is a working fish market, selling the catch of the day, but a simple menu on the wall lets you know that you can have that catch crispy-fried and served to you ready to eat. This takeout-only gem is the perfect meal before a day of fun on the water, and it's no surprise that it's maintained a big fanbase for all these years. Let's take a closer look at the Keyport Fishery in Keyport, New Jersey.

The Keyport Fishery usually has lines outside, and there's a reason this humble fish shack still packs them in after all these years.

alt

Located only feet away from the pier, this takeout-only restaurant is popular with local workers and seafood superfans from around the state.

alt

Why can't you sit down and eat inside like most seafood shacks? Because this isn't a seafood shack at all - it's a working fish market, running a brisk business in fresh fish.

alt

You can find fillets and whole fish of all the popular seasonal catch, making it an amazing place to go shopping for a family fish dinner.

alt

Or you can have some seafood dishes fresh from the ocean, adorned only with the condiments you need for a delicious meal.

alt

But most visitors come here for the fried seafood, offered daily for market prices. The fried fish fillets come perfectly fried with a crispy coating. The Keyport Fishery menu has so much to offer.

alt

The fried shrimp will make you forget all about Red Lobster, as every plump shrimp tastes of the sea.

alt

The whole-belly clams are another signature item, so make sure to try them when they're on offer.

alt

Most of the fried seafood can be ordered as a sandwich - making it much easier to enjoy while sitting on a bench with a stunning view of the water.

alt

The Keyport Fishery is a popular local gem, so it's no surprise that it's gained the attention of several food and travel bloggers! This video by Eat Travel Roll took us inside the humble fish market for a delicious meal back in 2021.

Have you been to the Keyport Fishery in Keyport, New Jersey? Let us know what you think about this fish market/takeout restaurant combo, and let us know your picks for the best fried seafood in New Jersey in the comments section. Where do I begin!... YCSH hosted a wedding that was better than what we imagined. The venue made all the difference on our ... special day. Taylor was an absolute DREAM to work with. Excellent food, great service, and very prompt also. Great drinks and very scenic, with a covered deck, right in the water. ... Attended a relative's wedding there Not cheap, but highly recommended. Remember you usually get what you pay for. In this Covidpandemic, I think, we as consumers, will need to evaluate the price of quality that we're getting for service or product toreally effectively evaluate and determine if it's worth the price. But sometimes we're stuck, with our back's against the wall, and we may not tend to try to drive forward to possibly negotiate for a bargain, if possible. It really comes down to whether ornot you have the cash to afford that purchase, and whether or not you feel, it real is a value for the money you are dishingout. Good luck in determining your bargain prices!???? Read more

36 New Jersey Waterfront Restaurants (2023 Guide)

new jersey waterfront restaurants

From the Hudson River to the Atlantic Ocean, nothing beats a New Jersey restaurant with waterfront views. And it’s no secret these spectacular sights are best taken in with a standout meal. Or at the very least, a drink in hand. From Mediterranean to modern American cuisine, these establishments provide one-of-a-kind access to our state’s best skylines, beaches, bridges and more. If you’re looking for a scenic experience, no matter the occasion, here’s our guide to waterfront restaurants in New Jersey.

North Jersey Waterfront Restaurants

Andre’s lakeside – sparta, nj.

Set on Seneca Lake in Sussex County, the location of Andre’s is what makes it especially magical. This longstanding restaurant in Sparta has been effortlessly melding lakeside eats with a seasonal, farm-to-table menu for over two decades. The space blends ease and elegance while boasting incredible waterfront views no matter what time of year you visit.

Battello – Jersey City, NJ

Located within Jersey City’s Newport community, Battello is beautiful for weekend brunch but you get the best payoff if you dine during sunset. This elevated restaurant boasts excellent vistas of the Hudson waterfront, in addition to a contemporary menu that merges Italian flavors with seafood. If you can’t score seats on the patio, retractable glass walls in the dining room make you feel like you’re still eating al fresco.

Blue Eyes – Hoboken, NJ

Also overlooking the Hudson, this Italian spot sets the stage for a relaxing waterfront meal. Blue Eyes is best known for its brick-oven dishes and Napoletana pizza. The restaurant’s name takes after Hoboken’s Frank Sinatra—as if it wasn’t obvious. During the spring and summer months, Blue Eyes’ outdoor dining setup on Sinatra Dr. is not one to miss. Seating is first-come, first-served.

yacht club restaurant new jersey

A pop-up that combines food and fun, and — most refreshingly — doesn’t take itself too seriously, has found a permanent place to land in an unincorporated desert community about an hour’s drive from downtown San Diego in southeastern San Diego County.

Founded by San Diego-born artist Max Daily, Oslo Sardine Bar was inspired by Daily’s grandmother, who once worked in a tuna cannery. Bringing together people, performance art, and tinned seafood sourced from all over the globe, the pop-up was first launched at Bread & Salt in Logan Heights.

As its popularity increased, Daily — who studied puppeteering and whose day job is doing set decorating and props for the Walt Disney Company — toured around the country with Oslo Sardine Bar, eventually establishing a weekly residency in Seaport Village before shifting to deliver pre-ordered boxes of tinned fish during the pandemic.

More recently, Oslo Sardine Bar has been popping up at Mabel’s Gone Fishing and Bread & Salt, sometimes with longtime collaborators, the sea shanty-singing Barnacle Boys , or his customized claw machine which dispenses artist print sardine boxes.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Oslo Sardine Bar By Max Daily (@oslosardinebar)

A trained butcher who waited tables for 15 years at South Park stalwart Big Kitchen Cafe, Daily has been invited by the new proprietors of the Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel to set up shop in one of their other buildings in town. The former library will now be called the Jacumba Yacht Club, which Daily says he’s envisioning as a slice of Americana that harkens back to the roadside attractions of yesteryear.

Building it himself with furnishings that include old tables from Golden Horseshoe Restaurant in Disneyland’s Frontierland, the space will have a sardine bar serving tins and possibly wine and beer and an adjacent theater area filled with art and animatronics that will host performances of Daily’s sea monkey circus. Daily tells Eater that he hopes to have some version of Jacumba Yacht Club up and running in the next few months, and says that he plans to continue his pop-ups in central San Diego.
