Star Wars: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Naboo N-1 Starfighter Ships

Getting up to speed on the Mandalorian's new ride.

The Book of Boba Fett Mandalorian Naboo N-1 Starfighter

The Book of Boba Fett recently thrilled Star Wars fans when the fifth episode, Return of the Mandalorian, was packed full of subtle (and some not so subtle) nods to the prequel trilogy.

In an episode that ditched Boba Fett for what was practically a prelude to the upcoming third series of The Mandalorian, viewers saw Din Djarin come into possession of a retired Naboo N-1 Starfighter. Naboo Starfighter ships were first seen in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, before appearing in sequel Attack of the Clones, and even the original and sequel Star Wars movie trilogies; keep reading to find out about those.

Alongside other prequel trilogy ships like the Sith Infiltrator, the Droid Control Ship, Jedi Starfighters, the Venator-class Star Destroyer, the Naboo N-1 Starfighter instantly became one of the Star Wars saga’s most recognisable and iconic vehicles. Before Din Djarin got his hands on a custom-built and heavily modified Naboo N-1 Starfighter, the spacecraft already had a long legacy full of dramatic battles and prestigious royal ceremonies.

Think you’re a real Star Wars expert? Have a read of these ten Naboo Starfighter facts and see which trivia titbits you already know and prove you’re the real Chosen One.

10. They Weren't Intended To Be Used In Battle

The Book of Boba Fett Mandalorian Naboo N-1 Starfighter

Prior to the events of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, the fleet of Naboo N-1 Starfighter ships were mostly used for ceremonial purposes.

The citizens of Naboo are a peaceful people, so the Space Fighter Corps was maintained as much for tradition purposes as it was for military defence. The fleet and its pilots served primarily as an honour guard for Queen Amidala’s Royal Starship. Despite not being involved in conflict, the Royal Naboo Security Forces continued to train in their N-1s on a regular basis, prepared for the honour of serving their queen and citizens of the planet in combat if necessary.

When the Trade Federation invades the planet of Naboo, the pilots of the Space Fighter Corps are well trained and prepared for battle. They know that they must brace themselves and fight against all odds if they are to free their planet and its people.

Primarily created for defence, patrol and escorting, the Naboo N-1 Starfighter ships were used in celebratory processions following the fall of the Imperial Empire.

Hidden Portside ’s new superyacht is further proof that sustainability and luxury boating are not mutually exclusive.

The Barcelona-based design studio has penned an innovative 164-footer known as Naboo that pairs eco-friendly furnishings and zero-emissions propulsion with a design-savvy aesthetic.

The sleek, silver vessel sports a hull that was forged from recycled aluminum and is replete with sinuous circular lines. The studio says this “ring concept” helps to create a different sense of movement onboard rather than a typical linear flow.

The epic vertical garden connects all three decks.  Hidden Portside

As its name suggests, the superyacht was actually partially inspired by Star Wars . Naboo is a fictional planet in the beloved sci-fi franchise’s universe and is characterized by its verdant terrain. As such, the vessel’s futuristic interior boasts an abundance of greenery.

At the heart of Naboo is a sprawling inner patio that spans more than 1,000 square feet. Beyond its plush lounge and bar, this space houses an epic vertical garden that soars upward to connect all three decks. It also features folding platforms on both sides for easy access to the ocean.

The zen beach club sits one level above on the main deck and comes complete with a Jacuzzi and bar. Elsewhere on this deck, there is an open kitchen or “chef’s house” where seafarers score a prime view of meticulous meal prep, as well as four cabins that can accommodate eight guests.

The bridge deck, meanwhile, is home to the lavish master cabin that offers a 355-foot private terrace and another Jacuzzi. The captain’s cabin is also located on this deck right by the helm.

As for the lower deck, it’s fitted with a 26-foot garage and space to store a full arsenal of toys and tenders, along with a second galley where the eight crew can work away.

Despite Naboo’s generous proportions, she has next to no carbon footprint. The vessel is equipped with an electric propulsion system and solar panels on the roof in lieu of a sundeck. This allows her to run on clean energy and sail the seas sans emissions. To avoid excessive use of A/C, the studio has integrated a range of smart PCMs (Phase Change Materials) that work to absorb heat. The superstructure is also finished in ultra-reflective metallic paint that repels UV rays and keeps the inside air cool.

“Naboo represents another lifestyle, the ‘smart luxury,’ in which sustainability is a mindset, preserving the beauty and elegance of the past, but relying on the innovation of the future,” the studio said in a statement.

Smart, indeed.

To quote Din Djarin , “Playtime’s over.”

Since the moment we laid eyes on Grogu in Chapter 1, we’ve been wondering how he escaped Order 66, the purge of the Jedi Order that marked the fall of the Republic in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith . Under the direction of Carl Weathers, the youngling’s rescue from the Temple snaps into focus, revealing the epic return of Ahmed Best in Jedi robes amid a heartfelt story that explores the power of family, clan, and duty. It turns out Bo-Katan has big mom energy, Paz Vizsla is a doting father, and the Armorer is a pretty great teacher. Here are five highlights.

Inspired By Star Wars, Naboo Is Taking The Electric Watercraft Concept To The Next Level

Designed by Barcelona-based studio  Hidden Portside , Naboo is an electric superyacht that's inspired by Star Wars. In the Star Wars universe, Naboo is most notably known as the home planet of Padme Amidala and Palpatine - a green and unspoiled oasis. The superyacht's greenery is its sustainable characteristics.

"Naboo represents another lifestyle, in which sustainability is a mindset, preserving the beauty and elegance of the past while relying on the innovation of the future," Hidden Portside says in a statement to  Boat International .

naboo yacht star wars

The company published the concept in early 2020, and it went on to win several industry accolades, including second place in the Rossinavi Design Challenge. This year, the studio announced that the project was 'closer to becoming a reality' thanks to a partnership with Italian shipyard Rossinavi.

naboo yacht star wars

Naboo combines luxury with sustainability in beautiful harmony. For starters, Naboo is not only powered by electric propulsion but also boosts solar panels. The 164-foot-long superyacht has circular lines that enhance the essence of the yacht. With a 'ring concept' and open living spaces, the vessel has a non-linear flow that contrasts with the traditional designs. According to the studio, this central garden creates an atmosphere where the sea, sky, and guests thrive together.

naboo yacht star wars

At the first level, in the centre of the yacht, there sits a large inner patio that spans more than 1,000 square feet (92 square meters), featuring a lush green vertical garden that connects all three decks. The patio has folding platforms on the sides that offer easy access to the water. The absence of corridors in most places makes the ship more spacious while being one with nature.

The Hidden Portside design studio's founders state, 'Not only did we seek innovation on style and aesthetics, but also, and above all, in the way the boat is lived, in the way the boat is used, and in the experience, we want to offer,' in a press release statement.

naboo yacht star wars

The middle deck features a well-equipped open kitchen where guests can watch their meals being prepared. At the same time, a nature-intertwined beach club with a luxurious jacuzzi and bar will accommodate relaxation and recreation. The superyachts house four cabins that can accommodate eight guests, with a crew of eight housed in quarters below deck.

naboo yacht star wars

The owner's cabin has a private terrace, including a jacuzzi and plenty of lounge space, and is located aft on the bridge deck. The garage can hold a custom tender made to match the mothership and a variety of water toys. The beach club is situated towards the centre of the ship, which is another first, and it becomes usable once fold-down platforms are lowered to the sea and the entire space opens up. It also houses a secondary jacuzzi and a bar.

Naboo disrupts space is by overthrowing expectations by enclosing areas like the mid-ship lounge and beach club and exposed spaces like the rear deck. The upper deck that resembles a bridge is where the helm and the captain's cabin are located.

naboo yacht star wars

Despite its size and volume, Naboo runs solely on clean energy and sailing the seas without damaging the environment. In addition, the superyacht uses an electric propulsion system and solar panels for power. At the same time, the sleek yacht also has a hull made of recycled materials such as aluminium and synthetic teak – a testament to modern yachting. The stylish yacht is modified to avoid excessive use of air conditioning in what is possibly an environmentalist dream-like using intelligent materials such as PCM (Phase Change Materials) and metallic and ultra-reflective paint that can emit or absorb heat needed.

For the time being, Naboo is just a concept, but with a flagship shipyard like Rossinavi in the equation, we can expect the Star Wars-inspired superyacht to set sail soon.

This vessel, produced by Nubia Star Drives, is based of an exclusive commission for the royalty of Naboo. The yacht features the signature chromium finish which marked the livery of the Naboo monarchy. It has a strong deflector shield system and powerful engines that would allow it to escape most starfighters. It is on the lower range of luxury, as it is relatively smaller.

Kenainath said: To address one concern early, regarding lack of opportunity to advance Force capabilities: The palace has a few remaining Jedi Holocrons, mostly from the previous Jedi Lords. It also has a few Sith Holocrons dating back to the time of Darth Vitiate, trophies of war, in the vaults that were forgotten about when pulling out. These include Holocrons belonging to King Adas of the Sith, Sorzus Syn, Darth Marr, Darth Nox, and Darth Acina. If you find them, all of the Holocrons will require that prior to actually learning their secrets, you acquire a strong grounding in Sith culture , which includes various cultural mechanisms for (relatively) safely wielding the Dark Side without going too far into it. The Jedi Holocrons contain ancient secrets of the Jedi which the Order stopped using post-Reformation. Secrets that once gave rise to the saying 'Light is a merciless pyre.' If you get access to those secrets, you are going deep into the Light Side, into parts that are dangerous to more than just yourself. Click to expand... Click to shrink...

Since it's been confirmed that the name tradition dates to the time of the Jedi Lords I'd like to change my vote on the name. I got that it was the tradition, but I figured that there was a good chance it had been started by a self-agrandizing Warlord during the 1000 years. I was thinking like dforcrednax about the palpatine exposure. I'd prefer to avoid Palpy as much as possible, but 1st) lack of basic political knowledge will be fatal, & 2nd) having no contact with Palpy seems a little unbelievable.

See, I look on having Palpatine exposure on high as a literal case of a double-edged sword. It is useful in the short-term for obvious reasons. No one will want to really mess with the kid that can have the Supreme Chancellor on speed dial, ensuring just that little bit of extra safety in the Outer Rim. Similarly, Palpatine was an excellent political operator, if Anakin only received a fraction of that knowledge (pushed into locations that Papa P wanted admitedly) then that can only mean good things for diplomacy and the like. Long-term it pushes Anakin to seeing the Republic as a positive thing, but also understanding the shames and negatives of it. You can't be friend with a guy like Palpatine without also being exposed to the constant corruption and flaws of the Republic. Having this can help push Anakin towards a reformer mindset and possibly even seeing that the rest of the Outer Rim has similar negative experiences is similarly something I'm hoping for. Lastly, Palpatine in the prequels is a really cool character and I really want to see how Kenaith plays him.

Anakin Skywalker POV: I limp out of the palace that I've been told is now mine . I'm still trying to wrap my mind around exactly how everything happened. One day, Obi-wan and I were being called before the Jedi Council to be informed of an upcoming mission, and the next day, we were separating in order to begin our mission. We were tasked with hunting down a group selling stolen Jedi artifacts through the black market, and the two of us ended up splitting up. Obi-wan ended up chasing a false lead to an abandoned Temple on Dantooine. I, though, argued that the trail leading to Dantooine was false. Something about it felt wrong to me, though I couldn't quite figure out how. After he meditated for a while, Obi-wan gave me permission to check the other lead, saying that it felt like it was the will of the Force. He didn't have much confidence in the lead I'd found, but he said that it felt like I was meant to chase that lead down. I trailed one of the middlemen who had been trying to wring credits out of the Jedi for the Order's ancient treasures into the underlevels of Coruscant, finding one of the fences that had been moving those artifacts, and from there, I trailed the fence to the seller. I snuck aboard the seller's ship, smuggling myself on the ship. It was an old ship, the kind of heap of junk that you'd find moving through Tatooine, barely running, with half of its parts scavenged from junkyards like Watto's. It was easy to hide myself on the bulk hauler, concealing myself in a cargo container, with the few crew members barely bothering to check the hold. When we arrived, the people here didn't even bother to check the containers, they just started unloading everything. Obi-wan would have called them sloppy. They were the sort of person I was familiar with from my time on Tatooine. The Hutts employ a lot of people like them, thugs who can be relied on to shoot at whoever they're told to shoot at, but don't have the imagination or ambition to be more than thugs. I remembered old tricks from my time in the slave quarters of Mos Espa and the time when I was owned by Gardulla like I learned them yesterday, and slipped beneath their notice, making my way into the palace. The slaves tasked with keeping the palace clean saw my lightsaber and smuggled me into hidden corridors, and from them I learned what was going on. This star system was the source of the Jedi artifacts being sold on the black market. This world had once been the throne world of a dynasty of Jedi Lords who ruled this entire sector, and the most recent warlord to seize power here had decided to start selling off the relics of those Lords and their vassal Jedi in order to gather funding so he could try to make a bid for more power. From there, I tried to smuggle myself off-world, but got caught by the Trandoshan warlord, who saw my lightsaber. He decided to make a show of his strength to reinforce his power and convince some of his lieutenants to stop trying to scheme against him. He challenged me to a duel, single combat, winner takes all, for the glory of the Scorekeeper. I'm still not sure if it was just one last surge of desperate strength, the Force guiding my hand, dumb luck, or something else, but he lost. He had me down on the ground, and was about to bring his vibro-ax down to take my head, with me pinned by one of his feet. I managed to unbalance him as I tried to roll away, pushing him back and making him fall over, then I summoned my lightsaber to my hand. One swing of my lightsaber destroyed his vibro-ax as he tried to get back to his feet, and the second one beheaded him when he demanded that I kill him rather than force him to live with the dishonor of defeat. After that, I braced myself to fight his lieutenants, though I was still feeling the effects of the previous duel, but they turned on each other instead. All of them had long-standing feuds with each other that had been kept just barely under control by the previous warlord, and with him gone, they decided to settle old scores before finishing me off. Some of the slaves had acquired weapons stolen from the thugs, and others had positioned themselves to seize control of the palace's internal defenses. During the duel, they enacted their plans, and finished off those thugs who were in the palace. By the time anyone noticed, the slaves had seized control of the palace's ground-to-orbit turbolaser batteries and the orbital defenses around 'Skywalker Three' that the former warlords had installed, including some makeshift defense platforms armed with turbolasers and a few concussion missile launchers with limited ammunition. The remnants of the warband decided to retreat in the face of that firepower, and whatever was still keeping me on my feet finally gave up. A few days later, I woke up in a bacta tank, and was informed that I've been named the 'Jedi Lord' of the newly renamed 'Skywalker system.' Any protests from me about the name were duly ignored, with people just telling me it was 'tradition' to rename the planet whenever a new dynasty took over. After I managed to get access to the local datanet, I found out why it was tradition. The original Republic surveyor who found this star system decided to name it after one of his aliases. An alias utilized by him in a hologame that he played to pass the time during long, boring searches for habitable star systems, and the original name…well, Siriothrax the Destroyer of Eternity, Dread Lord of All He Surveys system is a name I can entirely agree with changing. Which everyone else agreed with, apparently. The Sith who took over this system during the Great Hyperspace War renamed it in the same 'model' as the original surveyor. After that Sith Lord was defeated, an early Jedi Lord established a stronghold here to deal with any lingering taint from the Sith, and renamed the system as well rather than revert to the original designation, deciding to respect local tradition on the matter. Mostly because some Republic bureaucrat said he could either respect the tradition or revert to the original designation of the star system. After that, the tradition was firmly in place that the star system is called by the name of the current ruler or dynasty of rulers. There's also a note from the Republic that breaking from tradition will lead to them officially reverting to the original designation, on the grounds of it making the paperwork simpler. Given some of the stuff the Supreme Chancellor has shown me during his occasional tours of the Senate, I'm pretty sure it's just because they're all hide-bound bastards who hate change and want to do as little paperwork as possible. Given how boring the stuff is, though, I kind of get where they're coming from. Every time I have to sit down and write a report for the Senate or the Jedi Council after a mission, I try to keep the reports as short as possible. Usually, that means Obi-wan says 'write the report again, Anakin, properly this time.' Most of the time, I have to write reports at least three times to be up to his standards, and it's enough to make me want to scream. Then I shrink back in shame and go back to writing the report, to try and be good enough this time. Obi-wan's been doing his best to teach me, and I want to make him proud, to be a good Jedi and prove the Council wrong. It's just… hard , sometimes. It feels like I'm out of place in the Temple. The only time I stop feeling like an outsider is when I'm on missions, with my lightsaber in my hands. At least I can do something right. The rest of the time, Obi-wan is always chastising me about my 'rashness' or about some lesson I'm not getting. He's patient about trying to correct me…but it always feels like I'm letting him down. Like I'm letting Master Qui-gon down. Like I'm letting Mom down. "My lord, the ship from Naboo approaches," one of the men who's taken over staffing the landing pad informs me as the rising sun glints off of the ship's silver hull. I fidget as I look around, glancing back towards the 'palace.' The palace is built into one of the planet's massive mountains, the great peak rising high above the clouds. A large wall built with stone quarried from the mountain circles the peak, providing protection for the various outbuildings, including the homes of the palace's workers. There are also extensive gardens filling empty spaces, mostly practical gardens meant to produce food for the palace's inhabitants. Many of the gardens bustle with workers and agricultural droids at the moment, tending the plants, or beginning the work of restoring some of the old ornamental gardens. When I asked why they were bothering to restore the old ornamental gardens, which had mostly been left to run wild, instead of pulling the plants out and turning them into more practical gardens, the scandalized looks I got made me shut up. The feeling I got through the Force told me that the people here aren't going to budge on some things, and the ornamental gardens are one of them. As they put it, it was prophesied a thousand years ago that one day, a Jedi would return and free them all from the warlords. On that day, the first of the Jedi Lords would return and lead the system back to prosperity, restoring the ancient golden age. When the Jedi Lords returned, those gardens would bloom once more, restored to their ancient grandeur. I look up from the gardens, seeing the slopes of the mountain bristling with the planet's ground-based defenses. Massive geothermal generators buried deep underground and the immense quantities of Tibanna easily harvested from the local gas giants keep the ground-to-orbit turbolasers and heavy turbolasers supplied with plenty of power and ammunition to ward off most attacks. Those guns are one thing that a high priority was put on maintaining, as were the planetary shield generators housed within the mountain. There's two banks of those absurdly powerful shield generators, one bank to provide a planetary shield and another to provide a shield for the palace itself, both of them fueled by the planet's geothermal energy production network. The ship from Naboo lands, a familiar diplomatic yacht just like the one that took me from Tatooine to Coruscant all those years ago. My heart leaps at the thought that maybe Padmé is on that ship - all Naboo said is that they were sending a delegation after they got word of what had happened. Being informed that I was going to be receiving a diplomatic delegation from Naboo, from Padmé , right after I got pulled out of the bacta tank woke me up more than anything else did. Being told that the delegation would be arriving a few days after I was removed from the tank left me pacing my quarters shortly afterwards. I've been occupying my hands fixing up some of the defensive batteries and a few of the ships around here, but it hasn't kept me from remembering the days when Padmé came and changed everything for me. She brought Master Jinn, who freed me and gave me the chance to be a Jedi. She took me away from slavery. I take one last look at my blue and white robes, which were hastily sewn from bolts of plundered cyrene silk that belonged to the previous warlord, taken from a cargo ship he'd captured. The sheer softness of the fabric is unfamiliar, but they make me feel a bit less like I'm someone impersonating this 'Lord Skywalker' everyone tells me I am now. I remember seeing silks like these on a lot of Senators when being shown around the Senate by the Chancellor. When the ramp opens and a single woman wearing ornate crimson and black robes, her face painted in the same way I remember Padmé's face being painted, walks down it, I instantly know that it isn't Padmé. She feels different in the Force. "Your Majesty," the woman, one of Padmé's handmaidens, from what I remember, curtsies deeply as she stops several steps from me. "This one is Sabé of Naboo, once a loyal handmaiden of Her Majesty, Queen Padmé Amidala of Naboo. By the will of my former Queen, I bear the greetings and gratitude of Naboo, and the well-wishes of its people for your reign." Her tone is formal, but I'm focusing on the words former Queen . What happened? "By the will of Her Majesty, Queen Padmé Amidala, this one has been released from her oaths to the Queen of the Naboo, and left without a hearth to call home or a Lord to serve. This Sabé presents to you her oath: by the fires of the hearth and the waters of the river, thus does she swear to you, Jedi Lord Anakin Skywalker, her hand to carry out your commands, her breath to bear your word, and her heart to uphold your ideals. She begs of you to accept her oath." Vaguely, I recall the Chancellor teaching me a bit about Naboo's culture and their oaths, and I fumble for what I think is the proper reply. "I, Jedi Lord Anakin Skywalker, do hear your oath, Sabé of Naboo. In gratitude for your offer of service, I offer you my hearth to call your home, and accept your offer of your hand to carry out my commands, your breath to bear my word, and your heart to uphold my ideals. I thank you for honoring me by deeming me worthy of your service, and swear that you shall not regret your choice." Given that none of the people who walked down the ramp after Sabé appear to be scandalized, I'm pretty sure I got it right. "With that done," the air of formality seems to instantly vanish from Sabé, a smile coming to her lips as she rises from her curtsy, "we can get started. I've been screening some of the offers coming your way ever since Naboo made contact with your staff after their announcement went out on the HoloNet, and I have a few offers picked out that I think will be a good path forward, my lord." "Right now?" I ask almost plaintively. I want to ask how Padmé has been doing. "No time like the present," Sabé replies. "Firstly, the Ithorian Herdship Daughter of Ithor has sent an offer to shift course for this system. They are bound for the Outer Rim at the moment, and wish to use this star system as a base of operations. In exchange, they have offered to help terraform several of the moons in this star system. There are more than a dozen potentially habitable moons around this world alone, and the Ithorians are confident that they could complete the terraforming of at least three of them. They would request, however, to terraform at least one of those moons in the image of Ithor." I nod slowly as I remember a mission about a year ago. It was supposed to be a standard outreach from the AgriCorps to discuss a cooperative project with Obi-wan and I going along just to get me some mission experience. The Herdship got ambushed by a bunch of pirates seeking to raid the Herdship for Ithorian bio-engineering secrets and Ithorian slaves, and we ended up repelling the pirate attack. I also ended up patching up the damage to the Herdship caused by pirate turbolasers before its reactor went critical, though it was close and they were already sounding the order for evacuation when I got the reactor back under control. "I know Daughter of Ithor ," I nod slowly as I look towards the fifteen moons in the sky, whose gravity long ago formed the planet's arrangement of three planetary rings that fill the sky day and night with great rainbow arches, called the 'Three Jewels.' Each of the moons is supposed to be habitable, and it's said that they were once inhabited, but their ecosystems were destroyed during the last thousand years, leaving them as lifeless rocks littered with ruins. "I would recommend agreeing with the suggestion, though you should think about it first," Sabé says, and I nod. "The agreement would involve an agreement to succor any Herdships that seek to move through your domain and utilize it as a base to conduct the usual Ithorian activities of trading or bringing relief to suffering worlds. We would be responsible for helping resupply them, within the limits of our capabilities, and providing them with a safe base for what maintenance and repair we can provide." "I'll think about it and give you my answer tomorrow," I agree as I move to walk back towards the palace, Sabé falling in at my right hand, a datapad in her hand. She's already entering something into it, an intent look on her face as she "Will your ship…" "No," Sabé shakes her head. "They will unload my things, along with the two attendants I've brought with me, and then they'll be returning to Naboo. Queen Amidala is scheduled for another trip to Coruscant soon for a hearing regarding the Trade Federation, and she'll need her yacht for that. Now, there is one other offer that requires your immediate attention, and then we can turn our focus to starting to get the palace in order. That will be the first step to setting the system in order, after all." "What's the other offer?" I ask, and Sabé hesitates. "Eirtaé would have been better for this particular task," she hedges. "Each of Queen Amidala's handmaidens had different responsibilities. I was her primary advisor on domestic issues for Naboo, and would often sit in on meetings in her place when those meetings related to Naboo's internal issues. Eirtaé, however, was her herald. When the Queen needed to send someone to another world or court to handle a problem, she sent Eirtaé." Suddenly, I'm a bit nervous about what exactly she's about to say. It's sounding like a problem that I can't address with my lightsaber, and which sounds a lot like the politics that the Chancellor keeps on trying to teach me. Sure, I've learned a lot from him…but I suddenly feel that I could have stood to learn a lot more. "It's a cluster of three offers, each one seeking access to one of this system's major resources that it currently extracts from the asteroid belts," Sabé begins. "Filling the demand associated with any of those offers will demand a large portion of the current extraction capability, enough to make each offer exclusive, and I doubt that they will be repeated if rejected now." Now I'm really getting nervous. "All three parties are interested in purchasing certain minerals used in the production of armor-grade durasteel for capital ships. The purity and quantity of those minerals available here is sufficient to economically produce armor-grade plating sufficient for star dreadnoughts," Sabé says slowly. "As such, there are three major parties expressing an interest." "Who?" I ask. Dreadnoughts are big news. Sure, the Ruusan Reformation bans any ships of that size from possessing a hyperdrive…but there are tugs that can pull them through hyperspace to other worlds, and not needing space for a hyperdrive lets them turn that freed up space into more armor, more weapons, more ammunition storage, and everything else that a starship needs, making them incredibly powerful for system defense…or system denial. A single dreadnought, dropped into a star system by those tugs, can dominate it unless there's either a peer to meet it in battle, or a lot of fixed and mobile defenses are there to meet it. Starfighter swarms and carriers are the primary means of combat these days, after Ruusan banned larger ships from having hyperdrives, which is why the Trade Federation uses them so much, according to my history teachers. They're cheap, especially droid starfighters. That threat, though, is one that dreadnoughts honor and overcome. Every design of dreadnought out there bristles with point defense batteries, and besides that…starfighters are going to have a hard time against dreadnoughts anyway. Starfighters generally can't carry ordnance powerful enough to punch through their shields, and if they get past the shields, punching through the armor is still usually beyond a starfighter's limited firepower. Even starfighter-grade proton torpedoes generally aren't up to the task…and compared to capital ship weaponry, starfighter weapons are short-ranged. In order to make an attack run on a dreadnought, starfighters first need to make it past the light turbolaser batteries and light concussion missile launchers, which provide long-range defense. Then they need to get through the laser cannon and blaster cannon that join in at mid-range. Finally, the mass drivers and electromagnetic accelerators of the flak turrets join in…and most starfighters don't bother with particle shielding, making them vulnerable to kinetic weapons like that. In order to make their attack run, starfighters need to get inside the effective range of the flak turrets and stay there. Most starships these days rely on their own starfighters to keep enemy starfighters away, since they prefer to carry a hyperdrive instead of the power cells or ammunition for a heavy point defense setup. Dreadnoughts, however, can't carry a hyperdrive anyway. Nothing above a thousand meters in length is permitted a hyperdrive under the terms of the Reformation, according to history class at the Temple. As such, dreadnoughts pile on point defense batteries to ward off starfighters, preferring to leave nothing to chance. Even if starfighters have to get supremely lucky to harm them, why take the chance when they have the space and power budget available for those extra guns? The problem is, though, that producing a dreadnought requires high-grade materials in order to actually produce the powerful weapons, shields, and armor plating, along with all the other components necessary for an asset that powerful. Materials that aren't exactly common , and which are expensive when they can be sourced at all. "The first offer is from the Trade Federation," Sabé's lip curls in distaste. "They are willing to purchase the materials at slightly above market cost for the Outer Rim." My own lip immediately curls in distaste. Out here in the Rim, raw materials are cheap . Then they get sold at horrendous markups in the Core, far beyond the costs of transportation, because those raw materials aren't as abundant in the Core. The Core, though, has industry . Industry that is always hungry for raw materials, and the Core Worlds use that industry to produce vast quantities of finished goods that they then turn around and sell at even higher prices. The Chancellor often lamented the greed of the corporations throughout the Core, and spoke of how he wished he could curtail their depredations of the Rim Worlds that they exploit for resources to feed their bottomless hunger for more consumable goods. "In return for your agreement to their…generous offer, they have offered to station three squadrons of Munificent -class frigates in this system, under Trade Federation control, along with a single Lucrehulk -class cargo freighter modified for droid control…and planetary garrisons consisting of their battle droids," Sabé frowns sharply. "I advise against agreeing." "What are the other two offers?" I ask slowly, and Sabé takes a moment to consider. "One is from Corellia, or more specifically, a family of Corellian industrialists. They are willing to buy those materials at ten percent below cost of production, and in return, they will grant you control of two squadrons of Corellian-built frigates and three squadrons of Corellian-built corvettes, forces roughly equivalent to those of any one of the five major warlords occupying portions of this sector," Sabé begins. "Those ships would have hyperdrives, and could be maintained by the local shipyards, however, any losses would not be replaced, and you would be responsible for delivering the materials yourself for the next three years. Including providing escort ships for the cargo convoys. While it would give you hyper-capable warships that could project your power if you wish to reclaim the entirety of the sector, you would be outnumbered by an alliance of those warlords. While I am sure that you could overcome that disadvantage, defending the entire sector with just those few ships would be difficult. However, your obligations to Corellia as a whole would be non-existent, it would be just a single family of industrialists you are beholden to, and it would be a relatively short-term contract," Sabé finishes. "The last offer is the best one, isn't it?" I ask, and she nods. "It is also the one with the most obligation on your part," Sabé replies. "The option that Eirtaé would be better to manage. House Kuat of Kuat has offered to send one of its heiresses out here to personally act as a liaison. They will take on the responsibility of escorting the trade convoys, and will even provide the freighters, for a five-year contract with the option to renew should both parties be happy with the deal. They will pay slightly below market value…for the Core ," her words make my eyes go wide, and I remember a meeting the Chancellor had me sit in on a couple of years ago. It was between Kuat's Senator and someone looking to settle a business deal with Kuat Drive Yards for a major contract. The Chancellor suggested I get some practice in with sensing people's intentions and feelings, just like Obi-wan had been showing me how to do, and had me 'play' at being the aide to Kuat's Senator, telling him what I felt. The Senator seemed rather pleased with the deal when they rose from the table, and said that he would 'remember the favor I did for him.' This is probably them repaying that favor by making the offer. Core market value for those minerals is far greater than market value for the Outer Rim. "They will also provide a guard force for the lady. Two companies of Echani mercenaries, along with a squadron of the new Venator -class heavy cruisers…all to escort a Mandator -class dreadnought which will be transferred to our ownership and tasked with system defense. While we would be unable to maintain or repair those ships, Kuat has offered to provide that service for us," Sabé replies. "We would, however, have to keep Kuat happy with the deal…which means keeping the heiress safe and making the association clear. It will be likely that they expect for her to be given a place at court as one of your advisors. They will also expect to be able to expand on the deal as our extraction capabilities increase, or if other valuable ores and minerals are discovered in the asteroid belts, which is entirely possible. Historical records indicate that it is highly possible, even." I swallow. Hard. A dreadnought would practically guarantee security against all the other warlords in the sector combined, major and minor alike. But it also means that I'm connecting myself to Kuat for at least the next five years. I'm jolted from my contemplation of the idea by my comm-link chiming in the signal that means Obi-wan is trying to reach me. I half-fumble pulling my comm-link from my belt, activating it after pressing the wrong button a couple of times. "Sorry, Master," I say reflexively, preparing myself for the inevitable lecture. "Lord Anakin," Obi-wan's voice sounds amused, and harried. "When the Force told me to send you after that lead, I didn't expect you to end up a Jedi Lord. This has created a bigger fuss in the Temple than anything Master Qui-gon or myself ever managed. I'm oddly proud of you for that. It has everyone up in arms and taking sides, some in support of you, and some against you. Master Shaak Ti is actually one of the ones supporting you at the moment, and she's being supported by Jocasta Nu. Madame Nu is up in arms about the pirates 'desecrating such an important historical site.' That warlord is lucky you got to him first. Master Yoda and Master Windu aren't taking a side at the moment…pretty much the only ones who aren't." "Are…am I…" I try to ask the question that's burning in my mind. "The Council has agreed that with your ascension to the status of Jedi Lord, you are technically now a Jedi Knight in your own right," Obi-wan agrees. "They are using that as a shield against the Senate's claims that your ascension is in violation of the Reformation. The Supreme Chancellor is supporting us, so we expect it to blow over soon in the Senate. However, the High Council wants me back here smoothing over ruffled feathers in the Senate for a while. I have spoken with a few old friends, however, and some of them have said that they'd be willing to head out there and perhaps lend you a hand with some of your academics and Force training, in a way that you can't manage through occasional conversations with me over the HoloNet. It's lucky enough that you have a relay in that system, my lord." "Thank you, Master!" I announce, bowing, and I hear Obi-wan laugh. "You don't need to call me that any more, Anakin. You're a Knight now, even if only on a technicality…and you've done well. I'm proud of you, Lord Skywalker. Oh, and get that Padawan braid out of your hair. Cut it yourself if you have to, but you shouldn't be wearing that anymore in public. It undermines the Council's argument that you're actually a Knight now. Also…do try to have the dignity expected of a Jedi Lord. My grandmaster might have left the Order, but he called to complain about your lacking education in lightsaber dueling after the recording of your duel hit the HoloNet." "Yes, Master," I begin, but before I can finish saying 'Master,' he cuts the connection. Sabé laughs lightly, and takes my arm to pull me into the palace. Suddenly, I have a feeling that she's just been handed blackmail , and plans to use it to tease me to no end. Still…just having someone around who's willing to tease me would be a blessing right now. Everyone else expects me to be the 'Jedi Lord of prophecy,' and right now…I'm really grateful to have a friend here. ================================== Votes will be by plan. There will be a one hour moratorium on voting for discussion. Your previous vote managed to give you a bit of balance, with the Ithorian offer coming from a Jedi mission, while the Kuat offer is due to your political exposure. Going full Jedi would have gotten an AgriCorps mission sent out to work on more terraforming for your holdings with Ithorian, while full politics would have gotten you greater industrial support. As it is, Obi-wan has convinced the Order to allow him to send out another Jedi to your assistance, in recognition of your youth, due to your Jedi connections. ========== == Ithorian offer: [ ] Yes. (You are committing to supporting Ithorian operations in this area of the Outer Rim for an undefined period of time. While they will be responsible for their defense outside of your holdings, you will be expected to help supply them and repair any damage their Herdships take should they come to your system. Four moons will be rendered habitable over the next few years, and you will be able to choose how three of them will be designed by the Ithorians, while the fourth will be rendered in the image of Ithor and you will have limited access to that world due to Ithorian religious prohibitions on the exploitation of Ithor's ecosystem, which will be extended to that moon.) [ ] No. (You refuse the offer. It will not be repeated, as this was a personal offer from a Herdship captain in repayment of a debt, and the captain feels that by making the offer available, the debt has been repaid.) [ ] Write-in (If you feel that you can negotiate different terms for the deal, you may write-in a different plan. ============= Offer regarding purchase of raw materials. Note that if refused, none of these offers will be repeated: [ ] Trade Federation (You decide to trust the Trade Federation. They provide you with system security in the form of a few squadrons of Federation-controlled warships and a single heavy cargo hauler that might have been converted into a heavy warship. You also have to accept droid garrisons on all of your planets as part of the terms. You get paid slightly below Outer Rim market value. The Trade Federation is very happy with this deal.) [ ] Corellia (You decide to take the offer of an industrialist family from Corellia. You get paid slightly below cost of production for those raw materials, and you have to transport them yourself, as well as guarantee their safety. In return, you get power projection capability roughly equal to the fleets of the other warlords in the region, and the ships are under your sole control. Corellia does not care about this deal. You are not obliged to negotiate any deals with Corellia for further valuable raw materials that you might discover. Losses to your new vessels will not be automatically replaced.) [ ] Kuat (Kuat's Senator is repaying a favor that you did them at the Chancellor's behest a while back by arranging for this offer. An heiress of one of Kuat's Ten Families, ancient nobility of the Core, will dwell at your court as a liaison. To ensure her safety, she will have two companies of Echani mercenaries attending her. She will also have a squadron of brand-new Venator -class heavy cruisers, a new design from Kuat Drive Yards, as a hyper-capable defense force, to protect her wherever she goes, and a Mandator class Star Dreadnought will be sent as a system defense ship. You will be dependent on Kuat to maintain and repair these ships, but they will replace any that are lost. The dreadnought will be owned by you, but will be crewed by Kuat's hired crew until such time as you can train a new crew of your own. The Venator- class heavy cruisers continue to be owned by Kuat. Kuat Drive Yards may be willing to help you expand your shipyards, depending on how your relations go in the next few years. If any further raw materials of high value in shipbuilding are found, Kuat will expect to be your first option as a buyer. They will expect their scion to become your technical advisor, and will pay slightly below Core market value of the raw materials if you accept this deal. It is, however, a binding contract for at least the next five years, enforced by the power of Kuat. She will be expected, as your technical advisor, to be consistently in your presence. You cannot divide the squadron of Venators tasked with escorting her, and taking her knowingly into danger will be looked upon poorly by Kuat.) [ ] None (You refuse all of the offers, offend all three parties, and decide to figure out a different deal for yourself somehow.) ================= Jedi that Obi-wan managed to arrange to send out to help you. You may choose one: [ ] Bant Eerin (A female Mon Calamari Jedi Knight and a trained Jedi Healer. Highly skilled in medical matters, she will be entirely at home on the ocean world of Skywalker Five. It will be expected that she swear to you as a vassal Jedi Knight and receive a landhold on Skywalker Five in return, becoming one of your subordinates. She will serve as a medical advisor and tutor in the Force.) [ ] Garen Muln (A male Human Jedi Knight and a highly trained Jedi Pilot. He will serve you as a technical advisor and lead starfighters into battle in defense of the system or your other holdings at need. He will also serve as a tutor in the Force. He is more unorthodox in his philosophy than many Jedi, and is highly amused by your ascension to the rank of Lord. He will swear to you as a vassal, but will not require a landhold, as much of his role will require that he remain in close proximity to you, making it impossible for him to practically manage one.) [ ] Reeft (A male Dresselian Jedi Knight, and a skilled lightsaber duelist. He has spent some time as a guard for the Temple on Coruscant, and will serve you as a personal guard and tutor in the ways of the Jedi. He is heavily orthodox as a Jedi, and is uncomfortable with your ascension to Jedi Lord, feeling that the time of the Lords is past. He will push for you to seek membership in the Republic and comply with the Reformation. He will serve as a legal advisor in addition to his other duties, and will not accept a landhold if offered. He will not swear fealty to you.) [ ] Quinlan Vos (A male Kiffar Jedi Knight and the Master of Aayla Secura. He will bring his Padawan with him, and she is approaching Knighthood. He will serve as an intelligence advisor and tutor in the ways of the Jedi. He is highly unorthodox, and very supportive of your ascension. He will not request a landhold for himself, but will request a landhold for his Padawan once she is Knighted. Both of them will swear fealty to you.) Special: You may choose one of these, or none of them. If you choose none, the offers may be repeated in the future, or not, depending: [ ] Jocasta Nu (The head of the Archives, she will expect full access to the palace to catalogue its history. She is neutral on the subject of your ascension to the rank of Jedi Lord, but very supportive of your actions personally. She is a formidable wielder of the Force, and will tutor you for a time on the subject, but she will have to return to her Archives sooner rather than later, making her a short-term teacher.) [ ] Count Dooku (Your great-grandmaster, a former Jedi Master turned nobleman and planetary ruler, skilled in politics. He is a very skilled lightsaber duelist, and appalled by the skills, or lack thereof, you showed when fighting the system's former ruler. He is determined to 'correct this travesty,' if it kills you, and is willing to do so no matter how much you get hurt in the process. He may also include some political and diplomatic tutoring, and may offer trade connections with Serenno. His tutelage will last until he deems you adequately competent as a duelist.) [ ] Shaak Ti (A skilled and somewhat unorthodox Jedi Master who weighed in on your side in Temple politics, she has decided to retreat from Temple politics after they got a bit too heated for her tastes. She approves of your actions and your ascension to the rank of Jedi Lord. Her retreat from Temple politics may be permanent, but it is still too early to tell. Depending on your choices, she may choose to swear fealty and accept a landhold on Skywalker Four, a world where she feels quite at home. In the meantime, she will provide tutelage in both Force skills and lightsaber skills, along with skills in wilderness survival. She will primarily provide tutelage in the last area by dumping you in the wilderness.)

[X] accept all and stay neutral -[X] Yes. (You are committing to supporting Ithorian operations in this area of the Outer Rim for an undefined period of time. While they will be responsible for their defense outside of your holdings, you will be expected to help supply them and repair any damage their Herdships take should they come to your system. Four moons will be rendered habitable over the next few years, and you will be able to choose how three of them will be designed by the Ithorians, while the fourth will be rendered in the image of Ithor and you will have limited access to that world due to Ithorian religious prohibitions on the exploitation of Ithor's ecosystem, which will be extended to that moon.) I see no reason to refuse this, we get three additional habitable worlds and help with charity -[X] Kuat (Kuat's Senator is repaying a favor that you did them at the Chancellor's behest a while back by arranging for this offer. This is the best possible deal our world will get , it gives the world a decent revenue stream, security from raiders and pirates, gives us powerful connections with the core which we can leverage with our profits to increase the system's development level and move beyond an extraction economy -[X] Quinlan Vos (A male Kiffar Jedi Knight and the Master of Aayla Secura. Both of them will swear fealty to you.) Vos is a cool guy and a jedi shadow who can teach Skywalker a lot of useful practical skills and he comes with a padawan who will become our vassal who's pretty skilled herself, this also lets us maintain ties to the temple -[X] Count Dooku (Your great-grandmaster, a former Jedi Master turned nobleman and planetary ruler, skilled in politics. His tutelage will last until he deems you adequately competent as a duelist.) Dooku can show Skywalker how to fight real good , he cut off Anakin's arm at the start of the clone wars through the conflict he took on both him and Obiwon two on one multiple times and styled on them often, plus between ties to jedi , core worlds ties through Kuat and with ties to the CIS through Dooku Anakin would be set to make a diplomatic bid for either neutrality or at least put off the conflict

[X] Plan Paladin -[X] Ithorian Offer: --[X] Yes -[X] Kuat -[X] Quinlan Voss -[X] Count Dooku This plan works for me for the time being, I feel that we should try to be neutral before the clone wars simply by making connections with the core and outer rim factions, and simply build up our foundations before going to war with the Hutt Cartel. And Dooku won't have an easy time mentoring Anakin Skywalker to the Darkside cause Quinlan Voss is going to be nearby in the shadows as a Jedi shadow, and if he noticed some Darkside influence he would be able to balance it out and react quickly so the possibility of Darth Sidious's plans for Dooku to influence our MC on some aspects of the Darkside would not be possible or not that easy as long as we have Quinlan Voss in our service. Though I am interested in having our main character being apart of the CIS as I am more interested in the Confederacy of Independent systems cause, but I am willing to follow the majority as long as this quest is interesting, either by having Anakin's faction be a third faction in the clone wars or be apart of the CIS and throwing some sort of wrench in Sidious's plan in having the CIS be seen as an evil faction for his public persona as Palpatine gain more power. Edit: voted for the plan down below

I mean storywise if we are to be different I think realistically Anakin Skywalker would try to be neutral or a third faction, as he would most likely focus on his battles against the Hutt cartel. Unless they are going to rein in their criminals they will come out of their territory just to test Anakin. And we all know that he won't back down from a challenge in the original timeline.

Star Wars Movies In Order: How To Watch Release Order, Chronologically & With The TV Shows

New star wars movies: every upcoming movie & release date, lucasfilm is officially working on its next star wars animated tv show.

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars #50 In the final issue of Marvel Comics' Star Wars series set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi , one surprising Rebel hero nearly killed Emperor Palpatine before the Battle of Endor. However, the cost of doing so would have been extremely high with massive amounts of collateral damage. That said, this particular Rebels' justification was more than understandable.

In Star Wars #50 by Charles Soule, Madibek Musabekov, and Rachelle Rosenberg, Luke Skywalker discovers a dark means to kill Emperor Palpatine. Known as the Grim Rose, this ancient box fueled by a mysterious darkness is the perfect assassination weapon, allowing one's enemy to be eliminated from worlds away, and all that's needed is the intended target's DNA. After collecting the box and a sample of the Emperor's blood hidden on Naboo, the Rebels start discussing the ethics of whether they should actually use the box, only for Chewbacca to catch everyone by surprise and activate the device himself:

While initially a major shock, Chewbacca's justification and reasoning for activating the box make perfect sense . However, the truth about the Grim Rose nearly turned the iconic Wookiee into an inadvertent mass murderer thanks to his bold actions in the Star Wars timeline .

Chewbacca Has Zero Qualms About Killing Palpatine

He'd lost too much in the star wars timeline.

Just like many other Rebel heroes, Chewbacca lost and suffered far too much at the hands of the Empire to sit back and debate when the means of ending the Emperor was right in front of them. It's no secret that Kaskyyyk faced some of the worst levels of oppression since the dawn of Palpatine's Empire . This issue also serves as a tragic reminder that Chewbacca hasn't seen his family in years , a combination of his initial imprisonment by the Empire, his life-debt with Han Solo who helped free him, and his commitment to freeing the galaxy from Palpatine's tyranny before he can return home.

What's the best way to watch Star Wars? Here's everything you need to know to watch in release or timeline order, and how to include the TV shows.

As a result, the chance to kill the Emperor right then and there wasn't even a question for the Wookiee warrior who's always been far more than a mere sidekick to Han Solo . That said, it's admittedly easy to slip and think of him as such. However, this issue serves as very strong and compelling proof to the contrary, reminding fans of all that Chewbacca has endured (and all that he's capable of as a result).

200 years old by the time of the Star Wars original trilogy, the mighty Chewbacca is best known for swearing a life debt to Han Solo. Chewie accompanied Han through countless adventures, choosing to battle against the Empire for the freedom of his homeworld Kashyyyk. He remained with Han and the Solo family even after the Empire's fall, becoming a crucial ally of the Resistance to the First Order. The sequels seemed to end with Chewie remaining co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon - but now to Rey.

The Grim Rose Would Have Killed Thousands (Not Just Palpatine)

Chewbacca's kill-count would have been tragically high.

After the Grim Rose was activated, it was revealed that it attunes itself to its target by identifying those in the galaxy who've been directly influenced and impacted by them one-on-one, starting at the beginning of their life and moving forward until they're found and killed. However, it's also confirmed that every being identified would be killed alongside the target. In Palpatine's case, this would be hundreds if not thousands of beings, a cost that was far too high for the Rebels to accept.

Here's every upcoming Star Wars movie in development - including Rey's New Jedi Order, the Dawn of the Jedi, and The Mandalorian & Grogu!

Thankfully, Luke finds the means of deactivating the Grim Rose before it can finish its dark work which would have turned Chewbacca into a mass murderer rather than the one who finally ended Palpatine alone. However, one can't help but respect the Wookiee for his boldness. Chewbacca was willing to do the hard thing and end the Emperor's life when the opportunity presented itself in the Star Wars canon , though he naturally agreed that shutting off the box was the right thing once the true cost was revealed.
