Marmaris was once just a cute little fishing port, like many others in Turkey , but more recently it has grown considerably over the last 20 years. It is now a popular and thriving coastal town which attracts many luxury Marmaris yacht charter vacations. On shore, the quay is graced with several worthwhile rustic local restaurants and bars which create an ambience for relaxing during the warm Mediterranean evenings. For those charter guests who are interested, there are also the bustling bazaars in the old quarter of town to visit. Yacht charter enthusiasts and tourists who are looking to inject excitement and thrill in their holiday jaunt will invariably have to spend a few days in Marmaris. This is one Turkish holiday resort that is pulsating with action and excitement. Marmaris has this enviable distinction of having the biggest yacht charter marina in all of Turkey. Although many of these charter boats are bareboats, Marmaris is also known to larger crewed luxury superyachts as one of the places to visit on a Turkish yacht charter holiday.

The city of Marmaris lies in Turkey’s south-western section. Part of this bustling yacht charter holiday resort hugs the coast of Turkey. It is set on a location that is ideal for sailing activities and offers a lot of holiday opportunities for tourists who are exploring popular attractions within the region on board charter yachts.

Your Yacht Charter Holiday in Marmaris

Marmaris started out as a quaint and rustic settlement of local fishermen and it inexorably metamorphosed into a bustling tourist hub after a few years of heightened development. Today, Marmaris is one of the more popular luxury yacht charter destinations not only in Turkey but of the entire Mediterranean as well.

This snazzy holiday enclave features the same attractions and activities that you would normally find in an upscale Mediterranean holiday resort. But what sets it apart from the other resorts is its swift transition from being a sleepy Turkish village into a bustling tourist centre with distinctive cosmopolitan character.

Marmaris is your ideal choice if you want to spend your Mediterranean holiday in a resort that is pulsating with excitement during the day and night. While it distinctively evokes a western atmosphere especially along the sections that is near the waterfront, Marmaris is able to retain its old charm as can be gleaned from the old structures and archaeological landmarks that line the narrow streets of the old quarter of the town. This is the first place that you should check out if you want to experience the traditional Turkish character that pervades in this idyllic holiday destination.

Popular Places Associated with Marmaris

Being an “old” Turkish town, the highlight of your Mediterranean holiday in Marmaris will include visits to sites that feature popular relics and important archaeological structures. Your exploration and discovery of the rich history of Marmaris should commence with a visit to its famed Castle, which has been renovated and transformed into a museum.

An important part of your itinerary is a trip to the town’s Thursday market. This where you can find a wide range of items and merchandises ranging from leather bags, jewellery and even ducks and chickens. If you are planning some serious shopping, then you should also check out the items that are on sale in the array of local shops and bazaars that line the main street of Marmaris.

Most yacht charter aficionados and tourists gather along the battlements of the 15th century Ottoman castle to get a panoramic view of the local landscape as well as the town’s harbour. Another favourite activity of tourists and seasoned sailors is a leisurely walk along the “pedestrianised” promenade that runs the entire stretch from the marina all the way to Icmeler.

Yacht & Catamaran Charter in Marmaris, Turkey

We can help you find the perfect yacht or catamaran to sail from Marmaris!

Marmaris yacht and catamaran charter

Sailing from Marmaris

Marmaris has all the right ingredients to be a stunning place to sail: sunshine, reliable winds, crystal clear seas, and plenty of interesting places to sail to: either heading west to find secluded bays and stronger winds out in the Med, or heading east past ‘Paradise island’ and finding small restaurants dotted in the hundreds of idyllic bays along the coast. There’s also revered mud-baths, ancient civilisations, blue lagoons, sea-turtles and other wildlife galore, and superb cuisine. What a place to sail!

Marmaris itself is a bit of a tourist resort for land-lubbers, so it is well connected to Europe, particularly during the summer months, when hundreds of flights a day arrive at the local Dalaman airport. Sailing is possible even as late as November, when there’s still good temperatures, and when the waters and winds are quieter than the main season. We can help you find and book your ideal yacht or catamaran, with one of our trusted Charter Partners - just get in touch or search in the pink box with live prices and availability !

Must See if you're Sailing from Marmaris

SAILING RATING:  Beginner / Intermediate - You can find sailing to suit all levels of sailing in Turkey, with a mixture of quiet bay areas and more exposed coastline. You’ll find even remote bays have places to moor up – like a restaurant-jetty or a mooring buoy, but it's useful to be comfortable using the anchor. Peak season is July to September, but sailing is pleasant here from March to October, and increasingly, November.

MUST-SEE:  Check out our full suggested itinerary below, but from Marmaris we'd highly recommend taking in the ancient temples of Kaunos , the castle ruins and stunning views at Bozukkale , and the welcoming beaches of Ciftlik .

WHAT WE CAN OFFER:  We have a great range of yachts and catamarans available for charter from our trusted Charter Partners, all available bareboat or Skippered. We can also arrange a Hostess, Personal Chef and other crew.

GETTING THERE:  The Marina is 1h25 drive from Dalaman airport and or 1h45 drive from Bodrum airport. We can organise transfers for you - a 3-person taxi is c. €55 from Dalaman to Marmaris. You could also land at nearby Rhodes or Kos in Greece and get a ferry across.

WHY BOOK WITH US?  We only work with the very best professional charter operators , who we have met, know, and trust to give you the same outstanding customer service as you'll get from PlainSailing.com.

WHAT NEXT?  Use the pink box to search for yachts or catamarans with LIVE pricing & availability - if you have any other questions or requests, get in touch via Live Chat, the Contact Form , or by phone.

Why book with PlainSailing.com?

Suggested sailing itinerary, wind & weather conditions, marina details, more: sample prices   -   marmaris sailing itinerary  -   wind & weather  -   marina details, sample prices in, 6-day sailing itinerary from marmaris.

Marmaris is a fantastic place for a sailing holiday, and the absence of giant marinas means that it offers something different from Croatia and Greece – but something just as exciting. From Marmaris you can head west to the Dodecanese and the surrounding rugged coastline, or head east along the Turkish coast to find beaches, ancient settlements and mud-baths.

Marmaris - 6 day Sailing itinerary

It’s only a six-day itinerary because you can normally only get on the boat in the late afternoon on the first Saturday and you’ll spend the first day getting provisions in and getting familiar with the boat before setting off on Sunday morning. At the end of the week, you’ll need to get the boat back to Marmaris on Friday evening, before spending a final night on-board and then checking-out on Saturday morning.

Ciftlik

At the far end of Marmaris, look out for the Dolphinarium (the last place in Europe where you can visit captive dolphins – they are widely banned as people think Dolphins are too intelligent to be caged. This Dophinarium is run by a wilflife charity which offers the chance to swim with them to support their work.

We’re heading south then west, getting away from the hordes of tourists to the quiet bay of Ciftlik, where, nestled at the bottom of the steep mountains, you’ll find a fine sandy beach, four restaurants (complete with their own moorings, including water and electricity connections – a couple also offer wifi). It’s a place you can only really reach by boat, and it’s a great place to spend the night!

Bozzukale

We’re continuing on to Bozzukale to spend the night. It’s a secluded and beautiful bay with a selection of restaurants, mooring buoys (with free taxi services to dry land) and a public jetty. Aside from the nature (sea turtles are regular visitors to the bay, amongst others), you can hike to the ruins of an ancient castle, which is situated on the hillside above the bay and offers a good look-out to check if people in Rhodes are plotting anything nasty (as well as superlative views out to sea). In fact, Bozzukale means ‘ruined castle’ in Turkish.

Kumlubuk

In Kumlubuk, you’ll find delightfully warm crystal clear seas, sandy beaches, and plenty of places to relax and enjoy life. There’s also the largely ruined ancient settlement of Amos to visit if you fancy a hike, and if you’re bored of Turkish fayre (how could you be?), then you might be pleased to know that you can find one the best Chinese restaurants in Turkey here, complete with two chefs from Szechuan.

Ekincik

We’re spending the night in Ekincik, a well-protected bay which offers the usual lush semi-mountainous pine-tree forests and turquoise sea surroundings, peace and quiet, and a handful of restaurants and bars. It’s nice enough, but the main reason we’re here is to give you time to get yourselves set up for tomorrow...

From here, you can join a small locally organised tour boat which will take you through the reeds to the ruins of the ancient and prestigious city of Kaunos (highly recommended), the mud-baths of Dalyan (the mud here is alleged to take years off your age) or Iztzu beach (‘turtle beach’ where you’ll find hundreds of turtles during the breeding season). It’s possible to do all three in a morning or afternoon. (NB: You are not allowed to sail up to Dalyan yourselves).

Asi Koyu

There is a beach-bar in the bay, but this romantic setting is perfect for sampling the local wines, which are underrated - Turkey can actually stake two claims to be the birthplace of wine: grapes grow wild here and wine-making equipment found in present-day Armenia dates back to 4,100 BC (but they estimate that vines and wine have been cultivated since about 12,000 BC!)

The second claim is that in Genesis in the bible, Noah, after 40 days of floods on his ark, ‘planted a vineyard’ – the ark is reported to have landed near Mount Ararat, in Turkey. Many people have tried to find the ark (a bit like the Loch Ness monster) and some believe it is buried under the permanent snow-cap on Mount Ararat itself. Discuss.

Marmaris

But don’t worry – we still have a day of epic sailing in the sunshine to do first. Today is the longest leg, though at 24 nM, it hopefully shouldn’t feel like too much of a slog. You’ll likely be tacking up the prevailing wind with Paradise Island and, behind it, Marmaris, on the nose of the boat for the duration.

Maybe now is the time to get team-photo to remember this trip by: you can choose from the sea or a coastal backdrop, or you could even try and get one as you sail past Marmaris beach or castle. If you haven’t yet ventured into Marmaris itself, then it is worth a walk around: it has a long history and there are the modern day souks to haggle in, well-manicured beaches, and a lively bar atmosphere, particularly after sunset.

And then the holiday is over. Hopefully you’ve enjoyed exploring the orient, everyone got on well, and you’re leaving with even better friends than you arrived with. When you’re ready to start planning your next sailing adventure, head to PlainSailing.com! Safe travels, and hopefully see you soon :)

Sailing Conditions

Turkey Sailing - Wind Conditions

This makes it a little bit easier for last-minute changes of plan, when you see a cute littel bay, or hear something good about the taverna nearby, as here are plenty of spots to moor up without feeling too exposed.

In spring and autumn, other weather systems can also play a part for a few days at a time, so you might find winds arriving from the South. At the height of winter, winds can seemingly arrive from any direction.

Wind strengths and speeds also vary during the year, but tend to be between force 3 to 5 during summer – which is ideal sailing conditions – or stronger if you head out to the Dodecanese island. Winds are slightly stronger in winter.

Marmaris - Average Temperature

Netsel Marina, Marmaris

Marmaris Netsel marina is one of the biggest marinas in the Med, with space for over 830 boats. It's located within handy walking distance of the old town and the beaches, but it boasts so many facilities (tennis courts, swimming pool, a 40 store shopping-centre, a supermarket and multiple bars and restaurants) that you could get away without ever leaving the marina. And if you do want to explore the local area, there's also a car hire desk on-site. In short, it has everything you need for a pleasant start or end to the holiday, and it's busy in a nice way.

If your flights don't land or depart on a Saturday, and you need somewhere to spend a night or two before or after your charter, then we recommend staying at the Sunset Marmaris boutique hotel (the closest hotel to the marina), or the Blue Yacht Marina Aparthotel (which also offer 4 person apartments at great prices).

Netsel Marina, Marmaris

Marmaris Yacht Marina

Marmaris Yacht Marina is based in Adakoy, across the bay from Marmaris itself, and is beautifully located on a small spit of land connecting what would be an island to the mainland.  There isn't all that much in Adakoy, beside a few luxury resorts, but Marmaris centre is only 3km away, so a very short taxi ride.

How much does it cost to charter a yacht in Marmaris?

€4,790/ week in the high season and €3,260/ week in the low season for 8 people.

€1,500/ day in the high season and €857/ day in the low season for 10 people.

€1,690/ day for 12 people.

€2,843/ week in the high season and €2,500/ week in the low season for 8 people.

What is the best time of year for a boat charter in Marmaris?

The moderate climate means that sailing in Marmaris is possible all year round, so whether you’re looking for a sunny weekend escape or a leisurely summer break, it’s always a great time to visit. The best time to visit would be between April and November when the weather is at its warmest and there is little to no precipitation. The highest average temperatures are in the summer at 32°C however, this is the high tourist season in Turkey. If you don't mind slightly cooler weather, we recommend visiting in May or September, when it is less crowded. Plus, you'll get better deals on boats!

What can I see and do with my yacht rental in Marmaris?

There’s so much to see and do in Marmaris, and there’s no better way to do it than with a private boat charter. Here are some of our recommendations to add to your travel itinerary.

  • Go windsurfing: If you're looking for a place to enjoy some truly incredible windsurfing, Marmaris is the perfect destination. With its sheltered bay and reliable winds, it's one of the best places in the world to learn how to windsurf.
  • Practise water sports: In addition to being great for windsurfing, Marmaris also offers a wide range of other water sports such as jet-skiing, kayaking, surfing, wakeboarding and parasailing.
  • Go to the beach: If you’re a fan of swimming and snorkelling, it doesn’t get better than Icmeler Beach. This beautiful beach is well known for its clear turquoise waters, and there's also a wide range of sun loungers and parasols available for rent, so you can easily spend a whole day lounging on the sand. For diving, head to Cleopatra Island, a small island located just off the coast of Marmaris. For a relaxing beach day, you can go to the secluded Turunc Beach. It's famous for its unspoiled natural beauty and pristine water.
  • Experience the culture: Visit the ancient Greek city of Ephesus, one of the most important archaeological sites in Turkey and home to some of the best-preserved ruins in the world. From here, you can explore the ruins of the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian and the Great Theatre before making your way to nearby Selcuk for lunch.
  • See wildlife: For nature lovers, boat trips to Turtle Beach are a must. Located on the Turtle Island archipelago off the coast of Marmaris, this beach is home to loggerhead turtles who come ashore every year to lay their eggs. For more natural wonder, go to the Dalyan River Delta Nature Reserve. While there, you’ll see more loggerhead turtles and pink flamingos.

Should I have a skipper on board my private yacht charter in Marmaris?

At Scansail we have a large fleet of boat charters in Marmaris, both with and without a skipper. Even if you have a sailing licence, we always recommend choosing a skippered vessel for a more relaxing sailing trip. Skippers are nautical professionals who will handle everything like docking, anchoring and sailing the boat, so you can enjoy your holiday, worry-free. The best part about having a skipper on board is the fact that they are typically locals of the area, and can take you to see the best sights. For smooth sailing and a personalised boat trip, choose a vessel with a skipper.

What type of boat should I choose for my yacht rental in Marmaris?

The type of boat you choose for your sailing holiday in Marmaris will depend on the duration of your holiday and the amenities you’ll need to make your stay comfortable. When planning a sailing trip you might naturally inclined to choose a sailboat however, they are unstable vessels and not recommended for novice sailors, as they can be challenging to navigate. If you are a new sailor and you aren’t prone to seasickness, you can still rent a sailboat with a skipper.

For shorter holidays, we’d recommend a daily charter such as a RIB or a motorboat. If you are travelling for a week or more, you’ll need a more spacious vessel with amenities on board such as a kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. In that case, we’d recommend a catamaran or a yacht. No matter which sort of vessel you’re looking for, you’re sure to find the perfect one for your yacht charter in Marmaris with Scansail.

Marmaris is a vibrant tourist town that contrasts strikingly with the surprisingly undeveloped Carian coast to which it provides access. Leave behind the hustle and bustle of the bars, beaches and markets of Marmaris, setting sail on the idyllic Carian coast. Here you will find quiet places for swimming, authentic restaurants on the promenade, a wonderful sailing breeze and, as always, many attractions.

Marmaris Sailing at a glance

The vibrant tourist town of Marmaris contrasts sharply with the rest of the serene and beautiful Carian coast with its empty bays and traditional villages.

The summer season is the longest of all our sailing areas , with good weather and warm temperatures from late April to early November.

You will find small villages, restaurants on the waterfront, idyllic bays, serene bathing spots, and many listed historical and cultural sites to explore.

Our Marmaris Sailing Routes

From Marmaris, you will direct a rented yacht along the Bozburun Peninsula, pass between the mainland and the Greek island of Symi, going out into the beautiful bays of Esilova and Hisrona. These bays have a much more serene and peaceful location , mainly due to the long distance from the airport. There are numerous anchorage and small villages, complemented by a pair of slightly larger settlements in Datca and Selimiye. Visit tranquil bathing spots, authentic seafront restaurants, wonderful sailing breezes and, as always, many historical sights.

Additional Recommended Places

Be sure to visit Sersa Limani, Bozuk Buku, Paradise sailors, Selimiye, Datca and some of the beautiful anchorage (many without names) on the Datca Peninsula.

As a special pleasure, the Greek Symi island is divine and worth a visit . We recommend visiting Panormitis on the southwest coast.

Weather in Marmaris

The summer season is long, hot and dry. During May and October, the average temperature is expected to be 20 ° C, while in August the average temperature is 30 ° C. Since the temperature can reach a maximum of about 40 ° C (!), We often advise that children should not be taken to Turkey during the peak season.

The prevailing South Carian coast winds mostly come from northwest to west . However, the Turkish coastline will significantly affect the strength and direction of the wind. In the mornings, expect the winds to be weaker on land, but as the day progresses, the winds will become sea breezes, slowly gaining strength from noon to early evening.

However, the prevailing winds from noon and further in the Rhodes Strait will be from west to south-west and can cause reasonable waves from 0.5 to 1.12 m, while with the Meltimi wind you can expect waves of up to 2 meters. For Hisaronu Corfesi (bay), the breezes in the middle of the day and at the beginning of the evening tend to blow from the southwest right up the bay from Datca, again, they can cause a slight increase from 0.5 up to 1 m, and sometimes a little higher. The sea area between Symi Island and Yeshilova Korfesi can be light and variable for most of the time.

Summer Season

Shoulder Seasons

What are the best off-season times to visit Marmaris in Turkey? You can find pleasant temperatures in April, May, October, and November. The average temperatures during these months tend to be between 68°F and 79°F.

Places to see

  • Take a tour of Marmaris Castle, dating back to 1044 BC. Partially destroyed in WWI, it’s since been rebuilt and opened as a museum in 1991.
  • Visi the Marmaris Amphitheater , where you can catch concerts, international culture, and arts festivals today.
  • Explore the nearby ancient ruins of Kaunos and Knidos.
  • Stroll the lively Bar Street for live music, local culture, and places to indulge in the party atmosphere.

Things to do

  • Hike or take a nature walk in the Marmaris National Park and view the marina. Rent an ATV, or go horseback riding to visit settlements, 12-thousand-year-old caves, and more.
  • Go Kite or Windsurfing. As with most destinations along the Turkish Riviera, conditions are excellent for water sports and scuba diving.
  • Hit the beaches of Turunç and Içmeler. Marmaris has numerous beach resorts and clubs for those looking for nightlife, perfect for sunbathing and swimming.
  • Sail along the coast and stop in Greece . You can easily visit Rhodes in the Dodecanese Islands .
  • Head up the coast to Göcek, another top yacht charter destination full of lively streets and beautiful views.

Across the numerous street food vendors in Marmaris, there’s plenty of variety in delectable dishes. Known all over the world, Turkish cuisine is a must-try. The unfamiliar-sounding treat called kokorec is made of spiced offal (belly, intestines, or other edible meat found inside the animal’s cavity) wrapped in a lamb’s intestine to disguise the taste. It might sound hard to stomach, but if you’re curious, you should try it!

Gevrek is a quick, cheap breakfast snack often eaten before drinking coffee. Street vendors make this Turkish specialty at all times of the day, proving to be a convenient snack. Gevrek is similar to bread, known as simit, and is even shaped similarly. You can get one with strong Turkish coffee or Turkish tea. In addition, pancakes in Marmaris are called gozleme and can be bought on the street; the dough is freshly cooked with endless delicious fillings. Of course, Turkish kebabs made with a variety of meats and spices are prevalent throughout the city.

It's up to you and only you!

What to see and do in Marmaris?

Holidays on the beach

The first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of Marmaris is the magnificent beaches offered by its beautiful nature. In fact, many tourists come to Turkey just for the beach vacation. Marmaris is one of the most popular Turkish beach resorts. Icmeler, is one of the cleanest beaches in the area with crystal clear waters. Perfect for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts who have come to see octopuses and corals in their natural habitat.

Sightseeing spots

Start your way in the old city, stroll through the narrow streets and admire the historic buildings, built in the 16th century, when the rule of the Ottoman Empire was greater than ever. Today these buildings are restored and are used as stores, bars and restaurants. However, you can wander the streets and imagine how people lived and thought a few centuries ago, and feel what the atmosphere of this era was like.

Marmaris Castle

Dated from the 3rd century BC and created by Herodotus, the castle has been well preserved over the years. Yes, it has been rebuilt several times and the look of the castle, which was once admired by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent himself, has come to the present day in one piece. Now it is an open-air museum, which attracts many tourists from all over the world for its unique beauty and energy.

Fountain of Dance

This fountain is something impressive! It is a real light and music show in the heart of the city. It is a dome filled with crystal clear water that becomes a real mirror of water in which tourists can see the projection of the city's landmarks, the national flag and the portrait of Ataturk.

Amphitheater

The ancient amphitheater, built in the 5th or 6th century BC, stands incredibly well preserved to this day. Certainly not without outside help, i.e. from UNESCO. But don't rush to call the amphitheater a ruin: several music concerts are still held there.

Discovering Marmaris

The city of Marmaris offers us a large bazaar, a beautiful marina and an old castle. The most popular area is central Marmaris, especially the Siteler and Armutalan areas. Here you will find many options for leisure, entertainment, and waterfront restaurants. During your stay be sure to try some traditional Turkish dishes, such as meze, kebab, baklava and kunefeh, which can be found in most local restaurants.

Of course, after a tour of the main attractions of the Turkish Riviera, don't forget to get out to sea and see the city from a different perspective. Chartering a yacht in Marmaris or renting a catamaran is a great way to see the sights and hear the sounds of the Turkish Riviera.

7 Day Turkey Charter Itinerary - Marmaris to Marmaris

Ideal for Summer Season

Turkey is a stunning country visit, whether it is your first or fifth time visiting. Exploring stunning backdrops of natural beauty mixed in with historical significance and tourist havens, there is something for everyone when touring on a luxury charter yacht here. Starting off in Marmaris, there are many highlights on this itinerary including endangered species of sea turtle, beautiful national parks and Lycian tombs embedded in cliff faces.

Marmaris

Meet the crew and then head off and explore

Nestled between stunning elevations of foliage covered mountains, Marmaris is an idyllic setting for the beginning of an incredible journey through Turkey. As one of the more popular destinations of the Turkish coast, Marmaris has everything you need to ensure that your week long trip on a luxury charter yacht has the best possible start.

Meet up with your crew, settle your belongings into your cabin then return to the shore to see some of Marmaris before raising anchor. One of the best sights to see while in this tourism-driven location is Marmaris Castle. Being one of the only castles in Turkey which also houses a museum, you can learn a lot from this medieval castle in just one trip. Estimated to be around 5,000 years old, from the first piece of construction work, this castle is a beautiful sight to start your cultural learning journey into the Turkish way of life.

Another stop before heading back to the marina are the stores. Being tourist-orientated, you will find a good number of familiar brands in the area so you can indulge yourself with some great new purchases. Take them back to your chosen vessel and enjoy your first supper on the deck with a private view of the spectacular Turkish sunset.

Marmaris

Ancient tombs abound

Your first port of call after leaving Marmaris is Dalyan. Surrounded by highly fertile land, the lush green setting of Dalyan shows you just how impressive mother nature can be. The Dalyan river offers some stunning sights of Dalyan and also provides access to some amazing historical monuments.

Gazing up above the riverbanks of the river Dalyan, you can see the first historical site of the location, the Lycian tombs. Many of the tombs are unreachable, due to the nature of where they are located, but just seeing them is staggering enough. Looking very much like temples embedded in the cliffs these historical monuments will leave you gaping in awe.

More history worth seeing in a close proximity to the village of Dalyan are the ruins of Kaunos. Once an ancient trading city, Kaunos leaves a few remnants of the past for visitors including the remains of an outdoor theatre. Not much is left fully intact but there is enough to be able to make out the shape of the theatre and there are ample indications as to the structure and size of the monument.

One last visit before returning to your luxury charter yacht for dinner is to the beach. Perfect for catching some sunrays and relaxing, the beaches at Dalyan have another reason why they are a major tourist hotspot. The beaches of Dalyan are in fact breeding grounds for the endangered Loggerhead sea turtle. You may be lucky enough to see some of the turtles but keep in mind that the nesting sites are well guarded and you are not allowed within a certain distance of them.

Dalyan

Discover the beauty of Turkey's gem

Day 3 of your luxury charter yacht tour of Turkey takes you to the busy marina of Göcek. Extremely popular for cruise liners and luxury yachts, this beautiful bay is very busy and provides high quality facilities and amenities.

A day spent in Göcek will introduce you to some incredible local cuisine, which you can enjoy at one of the many restaurants along the promenade, and the warm hospitality provided by those who live in the area. To make the most of your trip to Göcek take a stroll through the streets to visit some of the small family run businesses and buy some of the locally grown pomegranates as a healthy extra for your evening meal.

The waters in the bay around Göcek are particularly good for snorkelling, so now is a great chance to take your first trip out in the water. Watch the beautiful marine life underneath you as you cool off from the warm Mediterranean heat. If you prefer a quieter and more laidback atmosphere, there are some small islands a few miles off the coast which boast lovely sandy beaches and a more peaceful ambience.

Explore the beautiful town of Fethiye

The popular hotspot of Fethiye gives you the best of both worlds when it comes to the modern holiday environment and an enviable glimpse into the past.

Anchoring down in the harbor you are immediately absorbed into the exciting Turkish holiday experience. Restaurants and bars decorate the promenade offering traditional cuisine and freshly prepared delicacies which will leave you wanting more. Heading further into the town there are plenty of stores and shopping experiences waiting for you, including street markets and some of your favorite global brands.

Adventuring further into Fethiye you arrive at the old quarter which takes you back in time to pre-earthquake streets, which survived the substantial  damage that resulted in the rebuilding of the modern sector of the town. The enchanting cobbled streets give a completely different atmosphere as you visit the white washed mosques and friendly family run businesses at each bend in the street. Indulge in a quiet drink or two before heading back towards your luxury charter yacht to prepare for dinner.

Your evening festivities in Fethiye can take many turns depending on your personal preference but one of the favorites is to dine in the fish market. Locally caught and cooked, there are various dishes you can try to excite your taste buds and then follow up with some colorful cocktails at one of the welcoming cocktail bars along the seafront. For a quieter evening, adjourn to your yacht for a spa treatment and a quiet dinner watching the stars.

Gemiler Island

Gemiler Island

A quiet day of relaxation, exploring and ‘you’ time awaits

The quiet location of Gemiler Island, situated just off the coast from Fethiye, offers sublime views of lush green forestry and a tranquil ambience that you will wish you could take everywhere with you.

On arrival you can make the most of the cooler morning temperature by relaxing on the nearly isolated beaches. Soak up the sun or spend some time beachcombing before taking some time to snorkel around the bays and investigate some small coves along the shore.

After a light, refreshing lunch Gemiler Island has more for you to look forward to as you explore the nature trails to see some historical points of interest. Religious ruins dating back to the 4th and 6th century AD are dotted around the island offering a range of impressive views and glimpses into the Turkish past. The ruins of the churches are in a range of different states of decay but they all provide a satisfactory visit which also provide great areas for picnics and holiday photo sessions.

To finish off the day you can return to your luxury charter yacht to see some of the larger coves around the coast and spend the night inside one, with a candlelit evening meal.

Gemiler Island

Spend your last full day in blissful surrounds

Cruising back to the southwest coast of the Turkish mainland, Sarigerme has a laid back vibe which will be a welcome treat for your final full day with your luxury charter yacht. Being only a small village there are few amenities here but the stunning national park location more than makes up for it.

The luscious 7 km stretch of sandy beach is a great viewpoint to watch kite boarding take place on the waves, but keep in mind that since the beach is within the protective boundaries of the national park, there is a small fee in order to use the beach and its provided facilities. However, there is nothing to stop you from breaking out your water toys from your chosen vessel.

Once you've had enough of playing with the jet skis and other water sports equipment there are some worthy sites on the land to pay attention to. One of which are some Roman ruins located just next door to the beach. The location of Sarigerme used to be an ancient city known as Pisilis. Much of the original city is now buried beneath the sandy beach but there are still some remains of the city walls which give some indication to the architectural nature of the Roman settlement.

Not really a site but something unusual to see is the Sarigerme Kite Festival. Taking place every year between April and May, the festival brings crowds of people to the small village and puts on an impressive display of vibrant color to the skies. Join the locals on the beach or have a luxurious picnic on board your luxury charter yacht over something bubbly while watching the sky come to life with hundreds of kites.

Sarigerme

Grab some souvenirs and say your final farewells

After a magical trip around the Turkish coast, you return to where you started a whole week ago. If you're ready for another shopping trip before returning home, make the most of the great selection of stores you visited the first time round and pick up some unique souvenirs to take home for your friends and family.

If you still have energy to burn, the waters around Marmaris offer ideal opportunities to try out some water sports. Take the jet skis for a spin before disembarking your luxury charter yacht. Or if you prefer an experience which is altogether much calmer and more memorable than a water sports session, visit the Marmaris Dolphinarium to get up close to some of these incredible marine favorites.
